Cyber Wars Ch. 12: "Tribulations Part 2"
 

OOC: New Chapter, but I think we should begin another chapter once we have to address a large passage of time.

BIC: Wolf nodded. "I don't know about me doing a better job at commanding than you...but I do know this: without you, our easiest and best chance at stopping Mastermind is gone. You are, without question, one of the greatest hackers that ever lived. Never mind the fact that you gained your skills through illegal practices...I'm not here to judge that. With you in jail, Mastermind will have an easier time making attacks through the Cyber World. I mean, in 5 years he made unsurpassed gains in controlling most of both worlds; Now he's being pushed back...but again we'll still be weak on the Cyber Front without a skilled hacker such as yourself. I know I can hold him...but two years is a long time. I can't promise anything, but I can promise this: I will keep the Cyber Force active and together until you return. I also promise that you aren't staying in prison for two years. You've already served far too much time in prison...and you don't deserve more. I have some political connections through Michael Knight, so I can try to get you out legally by declaring a mistrial...but if that doesn't work...I'll find a more...unconventional way to get you back." he grinned mischievously at Jade.

"Why do I get a bad feeling whne you smile like that? Anyways, I have full confidence in your abilities, or else I wouldn't have appointed you. Just do your best and I know you won't let me down. Well, I won't keep you, but I'd like to say goodbye to the others, do you know where they are?"

Wolf pointed down the hall. "They're in Angel's quarters, celebrating my slight victory in proving the general mentally unfit to command. Of course...they're also mourning over you being sent to prison and Monk leaving...which makes for a somewhat odd party."

He turned to enter the briefing room, and paused again. "One piece of advice for when you're in prision...use the nano-augmentations you have. Once you kick and inmate through a wall, things will be easier on that end. As for the guards...well...you'll have to tough that out.

Wolf entered the briefing room and sat down at the desk, looking over the kid and his hovering holographic AI.

"So...what brings you here?" he asked the kid.

Angel literally wolfed down an entire piece of pizza, in ONE bite, then belched.

"I am hereby the lord of stupid people tricks. And possibly the shoopuffs. I haven't entirely decided yet."

He flopped down on his bed, then sat up.

"Wait a minute. Bad time to bring this up, but have we given Kaitlin nano-augmentations?...and on that matter, we haven't given them to me either. I mean, they aren't exactly needed by me in the Cyber-World, but still, the moral here remains around the same."

"I don't believe so," answers Wraith as he sits down with a drink in hand. "But then, I haven't gotten 'em, either."

The mage spun, then held his staff high, the happy anime eyes showing once again. "We're here to help!"

OOC: That is... if this plan goes off the ground, I still need to talk to Batgirl about this... (Shudders) I STILL don't wanna die.

OOC: Apparently the natives are getting restless so I'm hoping to finish up this little bit by tomorrow (soon to be today) and I'll make our little jump in time Sunday night. So finish up with all the convos and whatnot pweese.

BIC: It was almost time for Jade to be dragged back to her cell, but she wanted to pay one last visit to the rest of the team. She knocked on the door, but it opened automatically. Wrait, Angel and Kaitlin were all sitting around or on Angel's bed eating pizza and drinking beer. "Hi everyone, I just wanted to come by and say goodbye before I go. I wanted to thank you all for being there for me when I needed you most, I expect nothing less of you in Wolf's case as well. I guess I was a little forthcoming Kaitlin in assuming that you wanted to be part of the team, but I figured that you could leave anytime, but the opportunity is always there. Anyways, I don't have much time, but I wanted you all to know that we're not gonna let this beat us. I'll be out in two years, or less depending on how crazy Wolf gets, and we'll finish Mastermind off for good, I promise."

"Damn right we will," Wraith says, slamming his drink down and standing. He stares at her for some time, then raises his hand to his forehead, saluting. "Colonel, it was an honor serving with you."

He then lowers his hand and relaxes. "Take care."

Angel got to his feet and neatly saluted.

"Been hell of a ride. Don't worry, we'll keep Mastermind with his tail between his legs while you're gone."

Then, in something completely unexpected, he walked over and gave Jade a hug.

"Don't stress about us. Just be on good behavior and apply for parole and stuff. We'll handle the war. You trained us to deal with Mastermind, whether you meant to or not, and I'd say we're damn good."

Jade was a little taken aback by the show of affection, but the mood was ruined by a pair of hands cuffing her. "Time's up! Back to your cell." The guard dragged her away and threw her inside. "Tomorrow you get taken to hell, better get some rest."

OOC: New chapter tomorrow, finish up the conversations.
