Remember Broken Age
I dont know when this happened, but its been updated with act 2 tacked on. This was the first I heard of it and figured I'd mention it. I thought they'd have made a sequel game, but looks like its an add on. If you beat the game just make sure its up to date and hit continue.

Playing it now. While the art style is wonderful and the storytelling remains charming and funny, I've run into a number of bugs that really take away from the experience. I think the game just glitched an important item out of my inventory. And since it auto-saves the game, I dunno how I'm gonna get it back or progress in the story. Several graphical elements failed to behave as intended as well (Shay remarked about how a giant seashell seems to have disappeared from the beach, while I was staring directly at said seashell. Vella noted that a teleporter accident temporarily changed her voice and made her head get bigger, but she looks and sounds the exact same.)
I know I can't really complain since I'm not a game dev and I have no idea what went on during development, but since this single installment in the two-part series took so much longer than advertised to complete, I'm kind of disappointed it's not working correctly. Most of the levels in Part 2, at least on Shay's side of the game, are backtracking through Vella's levels from the first part, so it's not like they had to completely redesign the world or the game engine. I hope I won't have to restart the whole darn game in order to progress, whether or not they patch out the issues. Granted, Part 1 is only like 3 hours, tops, but still. |
He didn't even comment on the big sea shell for me. This one seems to have more odd logic puzzles, so far all from Shay
like getting the tree to vomit sap on the sand mold or using a tree tap on an egg |
Yeah, some of the puzzles are a bit out there. I can't decide if I'm missing a clue to rewire the darn hexa-buddy or hexa-pal, whatever it's called or if it's just supposed to be trial and error. I tried using the burned wire remnants as a guide to see which plug had wire, I tried using the burn patterns to decide where the wires go, I tried relying on the direction each hook was facing as a guide for wire placement, and then I just sorta connected all the plugs in a last-ditch rage-effort, but no hexogonal dice. It's probably something super obvious but I already hate this hexapal.
On the plus side, the item I thought I lost was actually supposed to disappear-- the game just didn't do a good job of letting me know that. |
I'll give you a hint on that one, and you wont be happy about it. The clue is in Vella's story. Also in case you didn't do this, shove the little guy in the diamond shaped hole in Alex's ship.

I had some issue with the transporter partly because there was no real visual or audio cue that her head was bigger so I thought it bugged, and cause its easier than it looks just go through the troph room transporter than the other transporter and that should do it. Assuming it wasn't bugged for me of course.
Fair warning there is another part to the puzzle and I actually think its one of the better examples of puzzle solving in the game. Ok the end is, I honestly just got lucky and guessed my way through the start. |
It would not let me go through the transporters twice in a row until today's minor update. Up until that point, it would ONLY allow me to go through once and then travel back through the correct transporter to fix Vella's head. That's where I was stuck. Now today I did the exact same thing I had been trying to do all day yesterday, and now it works just fine.

I think I ran into my own bug, supposed to summon cereal so you can then spill it, but it immediately goes away when I try to bring it out

Finally finished it. While I enjoyed it, I feel they should have added some new game + epilogue or something considering how much money was dumped into this
