Legend of Legaia
Hey I just was curious to see if anyone had ever heard of this game for the PlayStation. If you haven't you can find something about it here... I think. If not oh well. Just post what you thought of it if you've heard of it/played it.
|
This was actually one of my FIRST Playstation games I ever purchased (or rather that my mom purchased for me). I played the demo and loved it so much that I had to buy the full game. Two days into play, my PS1 fell off the dresser in just the perfect way that the CD tray flew open and the game was shattered into many pieces. So was my heart, needless to say.
You're actually making me bitter thinking about all of this. Dammit. |
That game was one of the first RPGs I played all the way through. Liked the combo system in it.
Funny Story, when I reached Astral Tower (first City 3rd Continent) and examined the elevator and got the response "The power is out", we had a black out at my house. I was pissed cause I didn't get to save. |
lol, wow. The power went out at the same time you read it in the game? Now that's amazing.
Have either of you gone back up to Mt. Dhini and encountered that wierd 'bird'? I've encountered it after I've just got to destroy Cort at Rim Elm before the end of the game. I just wandered around and decided to go back up to Mt. Dhini's summit. Then when I arrived I was encountered by the 'bird' thing. My MP is reduced to 0/0 so that I cannot cast any spells and then it just obliterates my characters one by one. Even though my characters have all their final Uber armor from Rim Elm on and they can easily beat Cort I just can't seem to win against this foe. Oh and the point card is a complete life saver in any boss fight. Just save it until the end and you can literaly beat Cort in something like six rounds. EDIT: Oh, and isn't it "Sol Tower" instead of "Astral Tower" or maybe I'm thinking of something else... |
Yeah the point card is awesome
Sol tower your right The bird is a secret boss if you beat it you get some amulet that causes your character to go beserk when worn, you have no contol over the person I can they do anything form 2 hits to a 50 something Arts combo. No hyper arts/Secret arts/ Miracle Arts/ items/Seru though. I equiped it on Vahn and tested my luck in the tournament, sometimes I would get pissed when he would the enemy once, but other times he did 50 art combos and slaughtered the competition. At least I think that's what you get from him, I'm 70% sure, I use to know about all the secrets there's 10 or so Ra-Seru amulets including Juggernaut, but I forgot how to get them. Edit: I use to have the stratgy guide, and the bird keeps your MP drained don't bother trying to restore it. |
Really? You get that an amulet from the bird boss? Cool. I'm gonna train up my guys to beat the living daylights outa him.
You also metioned Ra-seru amulets. I'm not sure I found those. Where do you get them or are they not placed in a common type of location in the world. Speaking of secrets did you find the Platinum Card that allows you to buy secret items at certain locations? It was in the room where Vahn rests in Drake Castle.in one of the black 'windows' or whatever they were supposed to be. |
Yeah, Legend of Legia was also one of the first games I brought a strategy guide to, I'll try to find the location of the RA-Seru amulets. On another note go back to the Genesis tree in Sol Tower, The Mountain where you first get the Noah (I think that was her name, and both trees in the Voz forests where you got Gala.
Edit Found the locations for all Ra-seru here you go To get the character's Ra-Seru spell, go to the Genesis Tree in which the character first got their Ra-Seru; but you must do it after Songi is defeated in the Seru-kai or it will not work. Here is where each character must go Vahn: Sol Tower's Basement Genesis Tree (Since Rim Elm is destroyed) Noa: Mt. Rikumoa Gala: East Voz Forest To get the Juggernaut Spell, go to Ratayu after defeating Songi in the Seru-kai. Then, go to Van Saryu, get the Evil Seru Key, and use it to get into the basement of Ratayu, (where Van Saryu was fought). At the end of the corridor is a chest that contains the Evil Talisman. Equip it to get the Juggernaut spell. The Talisman also gives Encounter Rate Decrease. The Evil Ra-Seru Jedo spell: This spell comes from the Dark Talisman that you can get along the way. After you defeat Songi in the Seru-kai, go to the West Voz Forest. Go back to the dead Genesis Tree. Near the stump there will be a chest containing the Dark Stone. Take the stone to Zalan the Jewler of Jeremi. He will make it into the Dark Talisman. It allows the character to cast the deadly Jedo spell. It also increases Dark Power protection. The Earth Egg and Earth Talisman: The Earth Egg can be found at the Muscle Dome in Sol. To get the Earth Egg, you must earn 100,000 coins. When you have this amount, you can exchange them for the Egg. It will not be listed in the Prize window until you have enough coins. Once you get the Egg, take it to Zalan of Jeremi. He will make it into the Earth Talisman. When you equip it on a character, he or she will be able to cast the Palma Spell, which uses 200 MP. The Water Egg Water Talisman: When you go fishing and earn points there is a rare Ra-Seru egg that you can get called the Water Egg. If you gain up to 20,000 points you can access it. Take it to Zalen in Jermi and he will turn it into the Water Talisman. When you equip it, you will have better defense against water attacks. You will also be able to use the Mule spell, which costs 200 MP and is called Deep Avalanche. Thought there were more but there aren't Also a tip on beating the Hidden boss, get your SP up to 100 before the fight, and if you followed my advice you should know your miracle arts (You learn them when you get each person's RA-Seru) and unload them on it. Then once you get the amulet equip Vahn with the Beserker amulet, a charm that prevents all status effects, and the amulet that restores health every round (since you will have no control to heal him.) I beat the hardest level of the tournament several times like this, and got the Earth Talisman alot faster than normal. |
Legend of Legaia rocks, and not just because its initials are "LOL". I loved this game, with its martal-arts blend with a RPG. The various combos. And the music and plot just grasped in a way Final Fantasy didn't. Granted it sucked that everyone started at Level 1(I mean Gala, a Biron Monk who's been training his whole life, only Level 1!?). I also liked the magic system, of absorbing Seru and leveling them up to make them stronger.
Damn, what other good threads did I miss while I was gone? |
h4x.m4g3 I've already gotten started on solving some of those secrets and to my great pleasure beat the hell out of the secret boss. He had always irritated me that he could so easilly decimate my lvl 49 characters. However I'm having to use my second game I had been working on recently because I had defeated Songi ages ago so I couldn't get the secret seru spells you mentioned.
Wow. Otaku Son. I had never even thought of its initials. LOL lol. yeah the lvl 1 stuff is a bit odd but I don't mind it much because he seems to lvl faster than the other two anyway. Oh and Gala's armor that he gets from inside the Bio Fortress (aka.Rim Elm after Juggernaut takes over), that has to be the best looking armor he has the WHOLE game. I hated the little 'drumstick' of a "club" he has when you first recruit him to your party. Oh and did you guys notice the way their seru would grow to encompass the characters' arms the greater their Ra-Seru lvl? And I'm going to ramble onto another sumbject now just because I can so... Did it bother anyone else that in Buma the Ra-seru didn't each gain 3 levels? 3 Genesis trees so 3 lvls right? Okay... irritation built up over years subsiding... uh-oh... found another thing. Is it odd that the little time-you've-played counter only goes up to 99:59:59? Anyway feedback? |
Yeah I noticed the RA-seru growing as well. Eventually the people rip off their sleeves when they get so big.
You get the Ra-Seru''s after you beat Songi not before, so you don't need to start a new game. I think you only gain Ra-Seru levels as they cause a genesis tree to grow, since each of them only activated one they each grew one level. 99 (hours):59 (minutes): 59 (seconds) if it went up one more second 60 secs means 1 minute would make 60 minutes which would make 100 hours and reset the in game time. So instead it maxes out then. Edit:Ward of warning, the sequel is nothing like the first game (except the combat system). You get spells by levels, no RA-Serus, or serus, completely new story, arts raise SP, Super arts, and hyper arts drain it, and the addition of tag team Arts combos (those are awesome). |
