Steam Summer Sale: Because Valve Knows it's Easier to Sell Games Than Make Them

Sooooo. Steam Summer Sale is upon us yet again.

I've seen my Friends Activity page. I know you folks are buyin' games, even if only one or two. I KNOW WHAT YOU BOUGHT THIS SUMMER

Anyway. What did you buy this summer?

I actually didn't buy much this time, which is rare for me.I ended up with Stories: The Path of Destinies (which looks good but has seriously the lamest, most generic name for a game ever), Banner Saga 2 (because sometime between December and now I apparently forgot how annoyed I got at the first one and decided I needed to give it another chance), and Ghost 1.0 (a metroidvania which I bought purely on a whim. It's decent so far, but I'm only about an hour and a half into it).

I was tempted by several other titles, but the file sizes of those games were just CRAZY huge so there's no point in even trying to buy them. Considering my rural interwebs can MAAAAYBE download 2 GB a day (if I let the computer run continuously for 24 hours and the wireless doesn't crap out at any time during that period), there's no way in hell I'll be able to download Arkham Knight's 45 GB. (As it is, I still have Metal Gear Rising: Revengance in my Download folder, unfinished and unplayed. I bought it in 2013. )

So. What've you guys picked up so far? Anything unexpected? Anything you've particularly been waiting for?

Haven't bought anything, as I have 11 dollars in my account until the 1st. But I got my eyes on a couple.

Steamworld Heist, a 2D turn-based strategy shooter, basically 2d XCOM but with steambots in space, and way more forgiving (mainly no permadeath and no hard fail state), and with manual aiming on every shot and bullets can ricochet like crazy so you can pull of some neat trick shots.

Volume, a top down stealth game that was way more simplistic than I was expecting so I ended up refunding it.

Samura Warriors 4-II, dynasty warriors but with samurai in japan. Was getting angry at Overwatch's matchmaking so bought this to just murder things mindlessly. Loving it so far.

Dying Light season pass because I convinced a friend to buy the base game to play co-op, and apparently the base version (or, well, the only version of the core game on steam) comes with the season pass included now.

Momodora III with steam wallet funds from selling cards because it was like a dollar, and I loved Reverie Under the Moonlight (i.e. Momodora 4), so figured why not.

Move or Die 4 pack, a friendship ruining game. The 3 friends I gave copies to are going to pay me back, and because of exchange rate shenanigans my own copy will only end up costing me $4 instead of $7.whatever canadian (since my friends will be paying me in american, and it would've cost $6 US per copy)

Roguelands, a 2D roguelite rpg platformer, for co-op with the same 3 other people I got the Move or Die pack with.

And that's all I'm buying this sale.

It was free it so it doesn't count but I've been playing/just beat Princess Rememdy in a World of Hurt and it was cute/fun/simple which is really all I wanted out of it. Recommend it to anyone who needs to kill an hour or two!

Haven't actually bought anything otherwise. Games I'm looking at though are:
  • Stories: The Path of Destinies
  • Momodora: Reverie under Moonlight
  • Civ V + Expansions
  • The Fall

My backlog is long so I really doubt I'll get anything more than one or two of those games.

I actually bought this when it came out, but Banner Saga II is on sale, and it's well worth your scratch. It's kind of like if Oregon Trail was about an incredibly bleak viking-style End of Days.

I hoped Undertale would officially release the Linux version for this sale. This hope was born in January. There is no Linux version.

Haven't bought yet because I'm still selling cards and others itens but I'll most likely grab:

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc - A mystery game, in the likes of Phoenix Wright but much more anime.

Toren - A cute indie brazilian adventure game about a girl that has to climb a tower for her freedom.

and Dex - A 2D sidescroller cyberpunk rpg about the Singularity.

Outside of Steam, I'll most likely grab Mad Max from Nuuvem since it's scheduled to be cheaper than the Steam sale.

And that's pretty much it because ever since Steam abandoned the dailies I've been finding the prices to be very disappointing. Of course, the problem could also be that I already own all the cheap games ::V:

I can't wait to never play these!

This is the first time I've had a job while there was a sale on, and it happened to start the day before payday, so:

Powered by cute girls, nostalgia, and in a surprising turn of events, hot boys.

Still trying to decide on which game on my wishlist to get, so far all I got was Hiragana Battle cause I thought it might help me brush up on my Japanese

I only bought Hotline Miami 2 and Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath because I am very, very cheap.
