Vinyl
I recently bought a turntable and started a record collection. Does anyone else collect vinyl? What are some of your thoughs on analog recording? Is it better than digital? Worse? Discuss!
I'll tell you one thing; of all the forms of music storage, vinyl records have the longest life-span (if you take care of them.) CDs and casset tapes are tied for the shortest life-span (!). |
If your into that kind of stuff I'd suggest you look up Fingathing. Kickass duo, a turntablist and a stand-up bass bassist.
amazing shtuff. |
I don't mean for DJ purposes, if that's what you mean. I mean collecting vinyl just for the hell of it. Audiophile stuff. Anyone here have a vinyl collection?

My dad as just about every Beatles album in vinyl form. As well as some rare stuff be that singing Nun and about an actual ton of other records. He also as quite a bit of Reel to Reel and Casset tapes as well as an equally impressive cd collection. Me I have little to no interest in music for some reason.

Anybody who claims digital is better is a sacreligious America-hater and probably kicks puppies.

DIGITAL IS BETTER!

Digital isn't better yet. It's getting pretty close though. In a few years digital may very well be better. Of course a lot of how a medium sounds has to do with the speakers you use. Like that Bose thing makes digital sound very good.

We never go rid of my parents old record collection, if that counts.
Then again...we also have an 8-track player. It doesn't work...but we still have it. My mom is a bit of a pack-rat. |
My mom has a heap of records gathering dust in her mum's house. We can't listen to them, because we don't have any needles to use with the grammaphone (record player).
I think digital is better. |
