The last really really good game...
Of all the games I've played in the past few years (and I've played quite a few, mostly FPS with RPGs a close second and several scattered platformers i.e. Blinx, Vexx) I've found that the last game I've truly enjoyed to the full extent and had the most fun playing of any other game was Half-Life. And that came out a long time ago. Since then there have been some great games, no doubt, but I've seen many that have put so much of their emphasis on graphics that they forget about the story or gameplay, some that are given a title simply to attract people to it only to find it has no substance, and some that are just plain terrible.
So my question to everyone is, what is the last game that you really liked, to the point where you have felt no others matched up? |
Metroid Prime.

Metroid Prime, but Zone of the enders 2 gets honorable mention simply because I couldn't put it down.

Metroid Prime is so damn good.

The last one I've played that I've felt NO OTHER COULD SURPASS it? In that case, with such a high bar, I also have to go with Half-Life. That was, I believe, the game that made me realize I was going to be a gamer for the rest of my life and there was no longer a reason to fight it.

I dunno... There are just too many games out there than to pick one that I think cannot be surpassed. Plus, there are many that I think are the best game ever, but for different reasons.

1. Too short in story 2. "CLOSE" in VS mode |
EpYoN, what do you mean by "CLOSE"? Doesn't seem to be anything more than a way of telling people that you're close enough for CQC.
As for me... Well, the last game I thoroughly enjoyed was Planescape:Torment Both of them was funny, involving, entertaining and it had a lot of juicy backstory and interaction. I spent twelve hours a day on that game, and I enjoyed every minute of it. |
