why does FFX suck so much?

seriously! i mean, the whole game was really nothing more than running down a fucking tunnel, occasionally fighting exceptionally weak bosses (if they can even be called that), and talking to boring people to push along a crappy story-line filled with stupid characters and mediocre voice acting. the whole thing was dressed up nice and pretty, but there was no substance to back it. its a discrace to the Final Fantasy series. FFXII had better not be anything like this, 'cuz if it is . . .

But I liked FFX...

Must be because I never expect much from the story and didn't mind its linear nature.

I mainly liked it for the unique battle and leveling system and it had fun mini games.

Now I probably despised IX for pretty much the same way you hate X. Well sans story because that was the only thing that was good about it.

But we all have our opinions.

...You actually expect a good story of Final Fantasy? Did you play VII and VIII??? You must have hated em' cuz their stories pretty much sucked....

Melfice 06-21-2004 05:58 AM

Yeah, I liked FFX too. The story ain't that bad... You should try FFX-2, that was worse than X (I've heard...).

VII has a lot less story than X as Hamster said.

My 2 cents, yes.

By the way, don't let this go into a flame war.

I don't think the lack of a story would have been as much of a problem if the characters were actually interesting. IMO, the only character with an exciting story was Auron, everyone else seemed flat. That, and the linearness was extremely boring from the beginning.

Xivilized 06-21-2004 09:01 AM

Blargh! Don't judge the game by it's voice acting! Those were filthy american dubbers you heard, not the actual voice actors that Square-Enix selected!

Anyway, I didn't like the characters much, but the story was awesome. It was just poorly executed in the game. And, it was somewhat boring.

Blasphemy! FFVIII had a great storyline. I for one liked it. It had interesting characters and the only mistake I noticed was the fact, that Quistis had a crush on Squall in the begining, but there were no notes on that after the second CD. That was crappy, but I liked the bosses and it was quite fun.

Woah...this has to be like the tenth thread that jumped on the 'Lats hate FFX cuz it $uXXoR$ LOLLERS'

Opinion =/= Truth

Just felt like pointing that out. I (so far) have enjoyed every FF game I have played with the exception of FF Tactics. (The battles were to long for my tastes). I thought 7 was good, but not the best, and I thought 8 was really great (though so easy to cheat). 10 was a decent game, a standard RPG no doubt. I do hate Square's rise to commercializm though, the teaming up with Disney and making a FF sequal.

KefkaTaran 06-21-2004 11:12 AM

I wouldn't ever argue that Square has risen to commericialism in a big way, but I dunno if making an FF sequel has anything to do with that, though.

Anyone that said that 7 had a sucky story line never played the game. Period. Or played it with their eyes closed, whichever.

I didn't like X for a number of reasons. Auron, Lulu and Kimari(sp) were all cold basterds with the same personalitys that never said anything. Tidus' and Yuna's flirting made me puke. Seymore was a joke. The puzzles were stupid.

But in itself, it's still a decent game, even if it's one of the worst final fantasy's.
