GBA SP repair advice? HELP! URGENT!
Through a long story that I might explain later, I managed to completely submerge my GBA SP in water for a short period of time. Mostly meaning I was trying to push a go-kart out of a creek and forgot the thing was in my pocket.... Anyway, it's not working. Any tips at all on how to dry er' out and get it going again?
|
First thing, DON'T TURN IT ON!!! Hopefully that's fairly obvious, but if you do you'll probably fry all the circuits. If you can get it open without breaking anything (that part is important, duh) that would help, but you just have to let it dry itself out. If you get it open you might want to gently, very gently, brush a soft cloth across any wet spots to dry them faster. But I repeat: DO NOT TURN IT ON UNTIL YOU'RE SURE IT IS DRY. I can't really think of anything else.

aw freaking shitting crapping ass hell. The FIRST FREAKING THING I DID when it got wet was try to turn it on.
!$^(#)(%&%*#)$)%*&%&@($_(@*%(_!(%*%)!@$%(*!!!!!! EDIT Whups... *bashful grin* I just turned it back on after putting it in front of a fan for a few hours. Works good. I think. EDIT Nope, it still seems screwy. At least it'll turn on now. |
Fuck. It might not be messed up, but I can't stress the might part enough. Either way, your problem is way outta my league now. Maybe some more technicly inclined member can give you something you can do, but I'm not sure.
EDIT: It didn't spark or anything when you turned it on did it? Did any plastic melt or anything? Or did it just not come on? |
Nothing at all happened, it just did literally nothing.
At least I'm reasonably sure nothing but close-enough-to-clean water got into-no sand or crap. It was in my pocket. |
Did you get your name from the game of the same name?
Awesome strategy game, that is. |
First off, don't double post. Its okay right now, b/c your new, but it is against the rules. Use the edit button.
No, my name came from the complete randomness of my mind. It was either this name or MagicHateBall. I originally went with the Hate Ball, but couldn't get the account to work. Kind of glad actually. On Topic: When you say it acted all screwy, what did you mean? B/c you might not have anything to worry about. It is fairly water tight, and it was in your pocket. I still reccomend leaving it under the fan for a long while before turning it on agian. |
turn it on, screen is lit but kinda flashy (the screen, not the light)
sometimes sound plays with no visual sound is a bit tinny-sounding, but that's only to be expected |
Hmmm. Can't really say if its gonna pull through or not. Assuming its night where you are, leave it under the fan all night, maybe a little bit of the day tommorrow too, just to be sure. Then try agian. I say this tenitively though, if you still see moisture tommorow, then leave it there until you can't find any.

hmm..... i tried it with a game, didn't work at all, so im gonna just do like you say and leave it there. If that doesn't work, it's under warranty and I'll see if I can dodge around the question of how it got that way. "Oh, I'm sorry, it just up and stopped working for some reason."
