Well, I've been thinking once more...
During my temporary exile from the computer, I was reading books and watching movies and TV shows that have given me new ideas for RPGs. I haven't worked them out 100% yet, but I have been working on them, and getting ideas on how I'm going to do them. However I have a couple of ideas I'm working on, and some of them are getting to be tricky, so I decided it would be easier to work on if I focused on one, and it would be easier to focus on one if I knew what would be a popular idea back on the ole' RP forum. Note that most of these are still in the planning stages, and those that aren't are still purely in the "Random Idea" stage...
1. My favorite idea so far: A Bounty Hunter RP. Basically, the RPers take on the roles of bounty hunters, living in a futuaristic world with space travel and exploration. The idea in my head is something along the lines of Cowboy Bebop, but with different rules applied to it. Also, it would be Free-Form, not in the sense that the characters decide the story, but in the sense that everyone starts off as an individual bounty hunter, and can both decide who they work for, who they don't like, and who they will split the bounties with at the end of the day. I would implement a Stat system, along with a monetary system so you could buy and improve the weapons, armor, ships, and robots you may buy during the coarse of the RP. To give it an eventual point, a plot might be added in some form, or it could just play out as "RP until only one bounty hunter or team is left standing" style. 2. A survival RP. There is a horrible event/accident, and you are trying to survive the mess. Weather it is alien invasion, hideous mutations, natural disasters, or what have you, you would be surviving as regular joes in an environment that is trying to kill you. It might have stats, but it could easily play out with only a generic system of my creation that would track the health of people, with the possibilty that characters could die due to poor health or being killed. 3. An idea that I've been working on, but haven't entirely worked out how it will work. You are the Chosen Ones. But not of any certain time or place. You are the Destined Heroes of Time itself. You would establish the basic personality of your character, and maybe an appearance that could carry over, and those owuld be all that last in the RP. Basically it plays out as a bunch of scenarios, with each one placing the RPers in the body of someone meant to change the destiny of what is to come. This could range from knights stopping a mad wizard, to futuaristic warriors stopping an alien invasion, to anything else. Plot ideas usually involved a bunch of above-average heros, trying to take on and stop an ultimate villain somehow. Not sure if it will be stat based, probably won't, but you will be able to be killed. However keep in mind that even if you end up getting killed in one battle, your soul will survive to battle in the next "Battle Against Fate"... So, if any of these ideas sound good or interesting, or if anyone else has any ideas for a good RP that they may not want to host themselves but think might be good, throw them out here to be evaluated and/or fixed. Any and all criticism accepted. |
1. Yes
2. No 3. No 4. That Legend of Magi RP you had planned a long time ago. 5. Something with werewolves. 6. Shadowrun. |
I've done some preliminary attempts at crafting a system for the Bounty Hunter RP. My next question would be: 'What type of world do you want it to take place in?' Personally I've been leaning towards either Fading Suns (It's a futuraistic one in space; Lots of things to take into account, but also lots of options in it. Full details possible if interested), but a Shadowrun one might work better since all the rules are already well suited for that kind of RP. My last thought is one using the BESM system to try and replicate a Cowboy Bebop like universe and use that one.
What was it called, Legend of Mana. Based on that PS game. I'll need to rework that, but I could give that another shot... As for something with werewolves... I dunno. Maybe something using the WoD system? I'm not sure if I would want to host it though... Just not my forte... EDIT: Ironic, the Bounty Hunter one could kill two birds with one stone... |
Bounty Hunter one in space. I forgot Shadowrun was about Bounty Hunters (Or whatever they are, it's similiar). Shadowrun bad, use space with ships and flying and space and multiple planets and no magic. Cowboy Bebop, or Star Wars (No jedi), or what ever the other one you were talking about.

Fading Suns. It's like Shadowrun, but it's in space, and while everyone is seeking technology, the Church says technology is evil, and has an arm to back them up. Cybernetics are normally of a poorer grade then in Shadowrun, uness you find some cybernetics from the Second Republic that collapsed over a thousand years ago... As well as being against each other, and against NPC bounty hunters, you'll also have governments, corperations, religions, mages, and aliens against you at times, although if you are intelligent and/or crafty, you can also convince them to work for you...
Also, Fading Suns has Magic, but it's use has lots of nasty consequences along with it, and I intend for it to be hard to get, so you would need to practically go on your own quest to find the means to become one... It is quickly becoming one of my favorite RPG worlds next to Shadowrun. The only flaw is that the only version I can find of it runs on the D20 rules, and I HATE D20... |
I don't like mixing Magic and Space, and we already have a space and magic mix RP (krylo's).
Which ever you do, have stats. Stats are good. |
*Gasp* Even IHMN has finally been converted to the way of the Stat...
|
Maybe you could kill another bird with the Bounty Hunter stone by adding werewolves to the list of races...maybe there is a planet ruled by them and they have cool spaceships. But I like the Bounty Hunter one as well.
|
If I DID include werewolves, I would most likely make it a disease. However, there is a race in Fading Suns that is somewhat wolf like, and I don't plan on adding werewolves to the RP, so that's the best you'll get...

I wouldn't play a werewolf, I'd play an exceptionally tall, blond-haired man, with spikey hair and a red trench-coat with an extreme hatred of the act of taking someone's life.
