Legend Taskforce Chapter 1

It was a silent day at Fort Knox. One of the guards stood by entrance to the treasury, doing what he does everyday: stand and wait for something... anything to happen. Sure he guarded one of the greatest treasuries in the world, but with such security, nobody hardly tried to break in, making this guard's job a boring one. However, as boring as his job was, he rarely slacked off during work. this particular day, he hadn't gotten enough sleep the night before and he let his eyes rest for what seemed like a second, but when he opened them a group of unhappy eyes were staring at him. Startled, he jumped to his feet, noticing that the people were probably superior officers by their badges. One flipped out a wad of paperwork and gave it to the man, "We're here to do inventory." They said seriously. the guard nodded, then after checking them out, he led them into the treasury. <Funny. I didn't know we were supposed to do inventory today...>

"Look at all of this money!" A Fay shouted quietly, shortly after they had been left in there. The Fay had led themselves into the vault by glamouring themselves to appear as officers.

"Indeed!" Another shouted in extacy. The Fays went on for awhile like this, accedentally dropping their guard until they heard a noise... the door to the vault behind them... Turning around the Fays saw the wide eyed looks of a handful of guards standing in the doorway.

"Oh my......"

(OOC: now Jad must post)

A man wearing a generals uniform walked into a briefing room.

"Good afternoon, I suppose you are wondering why we've called you away from your training. Something has come up, we need to activate you early."

The screen behind the genral came on.

"One hour ago. A group of faeries broke into Fort Knox in an attempt to steal the gold. They were caught in the act and have now taken hostages and locked down the facility."

The screen showed some Hobgoblin, and pixie type faeries and a group of hogtied servicemen.

"We need you to go in and end the situation. We have also authorizing the use of our new power armor prototype. I'm sorry we haven't had time to give you proper training in it's use, to aid you we're using our trainging version the spartan."

The screen changed to show an armored suit that looked some what like a cross between a knight, and a soldier from d-day. The suit was equiped with a rebreather and air filter. On it's shoulder was what looked like a packet of cameras. In it's hands was a rather large assault rifle. The rifle was equiped with a single fire rocket propelled grenade.

"Any questions?"

"Yea, I got a few," Leon asked smoothly, "what the hell are those things anyway? And how do we stop them?" Leon knew he wasn't going to like the answer, no matter what the answer was. Anything that could break into Fort Knox HAD to be dangerous.

"Also, how exactly do you put that armor stufff on?" Leon was hoping his was black.

Torque kept silent. It was all straight-forward. Go in, kill the wierd goblin things, and get out.

Simple.

The fact they were getting new guns and stuff to do it was just a bonus.

"Would either of our myth experts like to field the first one." The general said.

"Those are faeries." Captain Sullivan said. "While very powerful with magic, they have a severe allergy to Iron and iron alloys. Also high ammounts of iron tends to throw off their magic."

"I believe that answers your question. We have loaded your guns with bullets designed to harm faeries. The power armors are totally modular, making them easy to repair and easy to upgrade and customize. Next question."

"What kind of information am I going to get about the building?" Rick asked. "And is there something that would be more useful once I get inside the building?"

Terry pondered for a moment. "Well, as long as you know what you're doing, this should go smoothly, if you don't...well, we're in tough shit, huh?" She laughed a little.

Squishy Cheeks 07-01-2004 11:33 PM

"Right now our main objective is to get this situation to end with as little blood shed as possible. While you are in transport we'll be sending you building layouts into your suits for you to anylize while in flight."

Heiseki 07-02-2004 05:02 PM

"Excellent," Terry remarked. "Let's just get this moving, okay?" Sitting too long in one spot, or being cooped up in a confined space made Terry feel nervous and vulnerable. She began to drum her fingers on the table in a fast rhythmic fashion. Noticing the others' raised eyebrows, she quickly stopped, not wanting to annoy anyone because of her discomfort.

Celine sat at the table, staying fairly quiet, listening to the conversation. This was much different from her regular job. Stopping... faeries? Usually she was hired to have visions about murders. And she wasn't extremely comfortable about using the armor, not only had she never used it before, but she didn't know how it would interfere with her visions, since she usually touched something before she was hit with a revelation. Shrugging it off, she looked up from where she was sitting on the table, "Alright. Then when's our time of departure?" She asked, not letting her doubts about her powers getting in the way.
