Keyboard + soda = new keyboard?

To make a long story short I poured half of a diet coke into my keyboard. It worked fine for several hours then died completly. Thruogh a variety of tests I became sure that the problem was from the soda ( Because it wasn't anything else). Fast forward a camping trip and a few days more. The keyboard works fine again. With a couple exceptions. The arrow keys will work under no circumstances. As well as the keypad buttons for 4, 5, 6, 1, 0, and +. All the others work fine. Even the others on the keypad. After several half assed attempts to fix it, it now seems like we may have to buy a new keyboard. Unless any of you soda guzzling, keyboard using, people know how to fix it. I orginally thought it was unfixable but the fact that it came back to life kinda makes me think there may be a way.

It isn't ever going to be the same. There are always going to be problems with that keyboard. I suggest you go get a wireless keyboard and mouse. I love the ones I just got.

Yeah, wireless is great for the people that don't like all the clutter of the wires. If you don't like the wires, go get something wireless to replace the one you have now. It fixes two problems in one that way.

Wireless eh? I may have to look into that. Although I don't quite see what the point of a wireless keyboard would be.

Me: look at me playing Halo from ACROSS THE ROOM! oh yeah.

Most wireless keyboards and the like don't reach much more than 2 or 3 ft away from the thing. But it clears up the cords and allows a lot of freedom of movement.

I had a wireless key board and wireless connected via usb....and I had a wireless usb thing so I could sit across the room and use the key board...

anyway to fix it just throw it at a wall. You need ot show the machine who's boss it works with everything. I even fixed a busted hard drive that way....and it worked BETTER than before, no joke.

No, it does not work with everything, especially if you punch your fist through your monitor. Violence leads to destruction in the end.

Now, for future reference(and this is for all of you), do not attempt to use a keyboard if you have spilt anything on it. Immediately rinse it with water, let it sit upside down, and air dry. You might think the water would ruin the keyboard. But, hey, if the soda didn't already ruin it the first time around, then why should water? Besides, I put my USB flashdrive in the washing machine by accident and it still worked. The only reason machines don't work after being put in the water is if they are connected to an electrical source, and it's the electricity that fries the machine, not the water.

Oh, yeah, I have a wireless mouse and keyboard, too. Even a wireless monitor. Called "laptop built-ins."

What clutter of wires do you reference, anyway? Someone who's organized their computer correctly won't have a "clutter" of wires; just wires running to their correct locations.

The wires still look horrible even when kept neat. Plus you can't beat the freedom of motion you get with a wireless keyboard. Which is why I also love my wirelss joystick.

I will never see the point of wireless for anything other than when one has a monitor/TV/projector large enough to sit far enough away from it.

Keyboards, mice, speakers, monitors, etc. all come with more than enough wires. And I could care less about having a few wires travel on parts of my desk. I get to avoid battery costs, signal loss, and other such problems.

As per the actual topic, never trust a device that has had liquid poured into it or been submerged, excluding devices specifically designed for submersion or water resistance.
