Really? You know some quantum physics? Do you know any site that would ease me into it? I've apparently taught myself some basic Quantum Physics and I want to know more.
The thing that keeps him from dissapating is that he probably is still somewhat physical keeping a small amount of energy that holds him together, but direct sunlight would probably provide way too much energy and he would die on contact with it because his body is mostly shadow. The teleporting thing is just absurd 3rd edition D&D crap. Albiet I like D&D, but I have my own set of rules that me and my friends have developed. |
This will help I believe but to really get into the whole quantum world thing you need to learn some pretty heady math. I'm at the point where I can identify some of the symbols for opperators they use in the more advanced equations and I've taken Calc 3. A lot of the bigger stuff is built on differential equations which are the work of the devil. Usually differential equations are solved to give probability graphs more than a solid answer. Anyways, if that site doesn't work, or you still want to know more there are two options:
1) Buy a book that will translate the math for you. 2) Think about majoring in physics when you go to college. Edit: Almost forgot, If you like this stuff you should look into string theory. Nothing like being surronded 6 extra dimensions that are curled into a insignificant specs. This should get you thinking at least a little as well. I used some of what I learned from this article for my orginal light feeling solid explination. |
I saw drop the teleporting. It doesn't really fit in with being a shadow (Shadow's don't teleport) and some people seem to not like that certain power.
|
My idea of that is he simply moves his mind to another shadow, thus he teleports. But if everyone still doesn't like it, then i'll drop it.

I have a possible solution to these problems.
One, Shade: If your character is comprised of nothing but shadows, then let your character exist only because he is bound by his will. In other words, sunlight won't kill him, it will just remove his "physical" appearance (which, really, is just a shadow, apparently), and he'll be like an apparition no one can see. Two: I think the "teleportation" is fine, so long as it's limited. Limited in that it works the way a Shadow Dancer's does from D&D 3.5. You need to be already IN shadow to be able to travel through shadow. In other words, you'd have to be in a darkened area to "teleport." Three: Make it so that some kind of physical actions can harm you, or your character should simply not be allowed to have any kind of direct interaction to the physical world. I think that sounds about right?... |
I think that Shade can keep the teleportation, as long as he restricts it to a short distance (say 30 yards, for example), and that the teleportation is also exhausting and only usable every once in a while. Secondly, Shade's character should be able to be affected by the physical world in any means, although it is scientifically impossible with no organs to be shot, bludgeoned, or stabbed, so that has to be fixed somehow. Plus, I think that rather than being killed or turned invisible by sunlight, I'd suggest that h's merely dazed, although my shadow character, Shadi, feels searing pain when in sunlight, forcing him to perform most of his actions at night.

One: Shade is made of slightly light resistant shadows. So only strong light can hurt him.
Two: I thought about that when making him. He can only teleport when in a shadow, and only to a shadow. Three: He can be harmed by physical actions when solid. |
...Urge to kill rising...ability to resist lessening... :bmage: Its stabbin' time!
Though at first I didn't really care, your character is now on my hit list. Your character is really starting to annoy me. |

Problem with your character Shade, you rely too much on your powers. I wonder how he will do if Nai stops his powers first.
