Andy 07-17-2004 09:45 AM

(ooc: i had no control over when i left, man. i got lockZord up. So what does this mean, i've got to start up a new character?)

p.s: Its good to be back.

Wolf99x 07-17-2004 01:48 PM

OOC: Andy, Welcome back. I sent you a PM regarding what I feel will be the best course of action for you to atake if you want back in.

I think that your team being dead has been accepted by BG, but since she's not here right now, I'm not entirely sure. In reality, I was the one who wrote in that you and your team were dead. Disappearance didn't really do it for me. Eventually it was used to basically show that the General shared Andy's animosity towards Jade and the rest of Cyber Force, almost as if Andy had been the General's protoge; Since Andy had died, the General was pissed off at us, and did things to attempt to get us all killed (like send a weary team to Coyote's mansion...fun!)

Darth SS 07-17-2004 01:52 PM

OOC: And on a side note, Coyote has become more mischevious than any of us thought possible. That, and the General can't pull any crap, or he'll face an inquiry. Or something. That, and Wolf has a license to kill.

Oh, and WELCOME BACK!

Wolf99x 07-17-2004 02:04 PM

OOC: SS pretty much got it right with the inquiry thing. I'll elaborate a bit though (mental note: Need to make discussion thread for this RP.). Coyote, being a former security AI, gathered a lot of damning evidence both proving the General was trying to set up Jade, and that Jade's way of fighting Mastermind far surpassed the last 12 commanders of Cyber Force (who all died in very gory ways mind you.). But at the end of it all, Jade was sent to a reformation prison for 2 years (Zeph guessed the year number wrong), and Monk, romantic interest of Jade (Don't ask me...they wrote it...yet it oddly fits), blamed himself in a nice display of angst. So despite our best attempts to get him to stay, he vanished into Siberia, to get away from everything and everyone. Wolf was also issued the command position of the team...basically Jade's last act as commander (well that, and letting Kaitlin join the team). Since Wolf was pissed that the General seemed to be getting away with conspiracy, he kicked down the door to the General's office, got the general deemed mentally unfit to command, and implied that if the General tried any more shit, he'd kill him because he has an honorary License to Kill (from a stint at MI6 back in the day). On a side note, Coyote still has all the blackmail infromation waiting like a ticking time bomb to go off. Of course, the general has been acting through his wormy XO to try and cause problems, but nothing has happened...so far. (evil smirk). I have plans for that though...

Darth SS 07-17-2004 02:13 PM

OOC: Woo. Go me. And on unrelated plot events...

Wraith is apparently a heroin user. Wolf found Kaitlin and revealed his past. Angel used to be Aegis, but after he died, he came back as a veritable Angel of death. That, and Kaitlin is his cousin. Squee.

"G'morning."
And you guessed wrong on the russian. He was just being held in Moscow. He was raised in Canada. But hey, no complaints if he lived in Russia.
IC: Angel woke up, groaned, and fell onto the floor. Wow. He'd been hammered. Briefly, he did a tiny bit of soul searching.

No epiphany. Damn. He forcibly got himself to stand, and checked how he felt. Pounding headache, mild nausea, probably a nice shiner on his right eye.

He checked to see if he'd managed to get out of his clothes and into pjamas. Nope. He'd slept in the nude. Thankfully, his door was locked.

He yawned, got boxers and a bathrobe on and stretched. Then headed for the showers (I'm assuming that since we all live within the one complex, there's showers and stuff attached to the quarters)

As he glumly started walking down the hall, briefly considering how much it would take to overdose on aspirin, he ran into Kaitlin.

Her eyes were basically shut as she tried to shunt out the light.

"G'morning."

"I do have knives with me. If you force me to open my eyes, I will kill you."

Angel nodded, and walked into the male shower room. And stubbed his toe. Wonderful day already.

Wolf99x 07-17-2004 03:03 PM

OOC: Actually, I was going to have it so that each person's quarters are kind of like a hotel suite. You have the amenities of a small apartment, including a shower. No expense was spared in giving the Cyber Force the best...something else that probably gives the General gray hairs.

Also, SS, I knew Angel was Canadian (hence the french cursing). Also, when you think about it...what would it be like to try and separate a Russo-Canadian from his alcohol? I forsee extremely bloody consequences...probably the same consequences that arrive from separating an Irish-Scottish person from his alcohol.

And a final, unrelated bit of info to finish bringing Andy back up to speed. The Kaitlin chick we all keep talking about? She's Wolf's girlfriend. Basically he spent 5 years searching for her after Mastermind took her over (I suggest that you read all the back chapters, Andy... althought sometime's it's kinda wacky stuff.). There...that should be it...now on with the show.

BIC: Wolf woke up, and took an aspirin for the still prevalent hangover. After setting an appointment with the JAG office, Wolf had gotten showered and changed into his formal dress uniform.

Although I hate to admit it...the JAGs like it when you look professional and follow protocal. he thought. He picked up his PDAP and contacted Beowulf.

"I need you to get information on Mastermind's cyber based attacks in the last 3 months. I think we all know who has that info."

Beowulf sighed. "Do I really have to go talk to J2? She's become such an introverted recluse it's scary."

"Maybe her disposition will improve once you tell her why I need that info." Wolf said.

"Very well, I'll see what I can do." Beowulf vanished from the screen.

***

Beowulf materialized in the "prison" that J2 had construted around herself. The walls, floor, and ceiling were all black, save for green alphanumeric characters and binary code scrolling all over them. There was also numerous computer screens running numerous searches, while 5 printers repeatedly coughed out information that the searches found.Although he wasn't sure, Beowulf thought he saw that one of the printers was just repeatedly printing off "All work and no Jade makes J2 a souless AI."

Wow...separation sucks. he thought as he cleared his throat to speak.

J2 looked at him with an almost zombified stare. "What are you doing here?" she asked.

"Wolf needs some information about Mastermind's attacks in the Cyber World, specifically the CF servers, in the past 3 months."

"Why should I give him that information? Why does he need it? For that matter, why come to me?"

Beowulf was finding it hard to carry on a conversation with J2, but he kept going. "He has decided that Jade needs to come back, and he needs the info to prove that her being in prison has caused Mastermind to do better on the Cyber Front."

Beowulf thought he saw a glimmer of hope in J2's eyes. She made a small smile. "In that case, I shall have the info for you right away."

She reached into a pile of papers and pulled out some graphs and text files. "This should be what he needs."

A smile played across Beowulf's muzzle. "Thanks. You keep on searching...we'll get her back eventually."

As he left, J2 turned back to the screens.

***

Beowulf returned to Wolf's PDAP. "She gave me the info you needed." he said holding up the papers.

Wolf grinned. "Good...have it ready."

Just then his PDAP rang with a call from the Medical office. Wolf answered it. "What is it, Dr. Oedupe?"

"Sorry to bother you Colonel, but there's a matter I feel that deserves your attention."

"What is it?" Wolf asked.

"During Wraith's last physical, we noticed something strange."

"What?"

"Needle marks on his left forearm."

Wolf paused. "And he's not a diabetic, is he?"

"Afraid not, sir...and he has no other possible medical conditions to explain it." Dr. Oedupe said with a sigh. "Should I call him in for a drug test?"

"No," Wolf said. "Let me talk to him. I don't think this warrants a big deal."

Besides which I don't know the variables anyway. Wolf thought

"Very well Colonel, I'll leave it to you." the doctor hung up.

Wolf typed an urgent text message to Wraith. "Meet me in my office ASAP. We need to have a talk."

Wolf then headed down the hall to his office and sat at his desk, waiting patiently for Wraith to show up.

I've got an hour until I have to go to court...might as well deal with this.

Cyber Force HQ - 0240 hours

Having been escorted back to his room in a drunken stupor, he spent the better part of the next hours... well, getting drunker. Raiding a stash of liquor he'd kept tucked away for a rainy day, he soon got so inebriated he couldn't stand up very well at all, and then got the idea that it was a good time to play.

Picking up a newer Gibson Les Paul and lighting a single cigarette, he started playing a few Guns n' Roses songs he knew well, and by the time he was done he'd passed an easy hour and smoked his whole cig down to the filter.

And he was getting bored.

He sets his guitar aside and tosses the burnt-out cigarette in a trashcan, then goes back into his bedroom and slumps down on the bed, suddenly feeling very tired. Damn, what a helluva day.

He reaches over on his dresser thoughtlessly and lights another cigarette, flipping and shutting his lighter with practiced ease. After taking a long drag, he starts thinking back to when he first picked up a cigarette, sometime around his teens when he was still in the orphanage. A smile graces his lips as he remembers that first coughing fit, but then turns down into a wry scowl when he realizes how long it's been since he did any heroin.

Three months. That's a long damn time... he muses. Cool.

In the back of his mind he wonders if anybody around here knows about him and his heroin, but then figures that if anyone knew, they'd have talked with him about it already, and so he relaxes. Well, I bet Coyote knows. He knows too much.

He chuckles to himself then, not too sure why exactly he finds that funny, but he laughs nonetheless. Standing up and removing the cig to blow out a large puff, he looks over his bed and straightens it, while at the same time thinking about all those times he'd smuggled a small stash into his room and hid it in his nightstand. After fluffing his pillow and sitting down on the edge of the bed, he opens the drawer and looks inside. Just magazines and cigarettes, as usual.

He gives himself some credit for dealing with things better this time around and lays back on his bed, but still wonders about what it feels like, having a needle up his arm. Finding comfort that he hasn't had any lying around for a long time, he begins to drift into a restful sleep.

Cyber Force HQ - 0950 hours

Stretching and yawning as he walks down the hallway, he spots Kaitlin coming the other way, eyes nearly shut. Before he can even open his mouth, however, she blurts, "Don't even start."

He raises an eyebrow and passes her silently. What was that all about?

After going a little further down the hallway, wet hair fallen down all over him and windbreakers rustling with each step, he reaches the elevators and presses the second floor button with one hand while scratching at his tank top with the other. With timing as perfect as a Samoan wrestler, his watch beeps, letting him that he's received a text message.

Sighing heavily, he uses the elevator's comm system to route the message to him, after typing in about seven aggravating passwords. After reading it, he frowns and mutters out loud, "Aw, maaaan, can't it wait until after breakfast?"

He reaches over and presses the stop button, however, and sighs again. Might as well get this over with, he thinks while pressing the fifth floor button, restarting the car.

Cyber Force HQ - Fifth floor

He stands before Wolf's office door and collects himself -- mainly by straightening his shirt as best he can, patting down his hair, and controlling his stomach growling. Satisfied that he's ready enough, he then opens the door and enters, shutting it again softly. "Yes, sir?"

His stomach then growled again.

Wolf99x 07-17-2004 05:25 PM

OOC: EDIT: Zephir and I are co-opting this post. I'll let you all know when we've finished out this dialog. EDIT2: I finally got everything into the post. You can all breathe easy now!

BIC: Wolf noticed Wraith seemed visibly uncomfortable. Oh great, I haven't even asked him a question and he's already on the defensive. he thought.

Wolf looked staright on at Wraith and kept his voice calm and level. "I called you here to adress a minor...inconsistency in your last physical report from the medical office. Apparently they found needle marks on your left forearm."

Wraith's gaze shifted from side to side.

Wolf continued. "I only have one question to ask you, all I'm asking is that you answer it truthfully. Bear in mind that the answer will not affect your rank or active duty status in any way."

He paused before asking.

"Have you been shooting heroin?"

***

Wraith stood still for a long moment, letting a silence fall between them. He teetered on the edge of whether he can trust him or not, then finally gave in when, in a single fleeting moment, he felt oddly unthreatened, and gave his answer. "Yes."

***
Wolf was glad Wraith had been honest about it. But he was still trying to figure out why exactly Wraith had turned to a heavy drug such as heroin.

Maybe it was to deal with stress...or some trauma he's suffered. Well...it's really not my business to ask, so I'll just steer clear of that line of inquiry. he thought.

Wolf did have another question for Wraith however. "All right, I appreciate the honesty, and as I said no action will be taken against you for it. I just want to know if this is a serious addiction, or more of a once-in-a-while thing. Because the doctors never picked it up on the tox reports." he said.

***

Wraith looked to the side slightly, weighing his answer carefully. He didn't want it to come out wrong, after all. "I only did it every once in a while, yeah. It hasn't been serious for a while, sir."

***

Wolf nodded. "That's good to hear. The last thing I need is my First Officer keeling over from an overdose."

He steepled his fingers, as if in thought. "We both know I have no clue why you were ever addicted to heroin, and I know it's not my place to ask, so I won't. However I will give you this piece of advice. I don't know if it applies to you or not, but consider it anyway."

He paused, then continued.

"I used to be an extreme drug abuser. During my early years on the run, depression often overcame me, and I tried using cigarettes and alcohol to numb the pain. That effort almost ended up killing me. Now I'm not saying your past addiction was mood-related, I'm just making an example. The point of this is that I would simply reccommend that you kick the heroin habit before it redevelops into an addiction. That's all."

***

Wraith nodded, but added, "Yes, sir... but I haven't done any in three months. It's not a problem, Colonel, I assure you."

***

Wolf grinned slightly. "Well, as long as you have it under control, then there's no worries. You can go now. And also, none of what was said here will leave this office."

God knows Angel would have a field day if he found out. he thought.

***

Wraith nodded to him and answered, "Yes, sir."

He then turned and headed out the door, shutting it quietly behind him. Once outside, he headed straight for the elevator and a nice, hot breakfast. God damnit.

OOC: There...done. I put those three asterik dividers in to show perspective changes...yeah...

Darth SS 07-17-2004 07:07 PM

OOC: DUN DUN DUUUUUN

IC: Angel finished his shower, and walked back to his quarters with a towel over his shoulders. He used it to towel his hair.

He was wearing pants of course. Black jeans.

This was a surprisingly juvenile attempt to impress some (at least one man!) girls.

He didn't even wonder why Wraith left his door open. He just closed it and continued.
