League of Extraordinary Gentlmen ...2?

The concept of the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is that they are a group of famous English literary characters and tossed them into a comic book setting where they dealt with problems threatning England often times these problem would emmanate from other books such as War of the Worlds.

OK if you were creating your own League... who would be in it? and from what Genre would you take them from?

Me just off the bat I would take Mordern america movie characters

League Members:

Carrie from the Movie Carrie
Allan Grant from Jurassic Park
Rambo
Jason From Friday the 13th
And Jules from Pulp Fiction

Rambo would be like the Ass kicker like Nemo from the 1st league
Carrie would be the spooky woman with powers, like Mina
Jason would be the Mr. Hyde character that was completely pure evil, and a danger to the team. So much so he would be locked up at all times unless absolutely needed
Jules would be the leader and another gun man, perhaps having the "power" to not die because of weird miracles that occur everytime he's in danger.
Allan would be the leader and "brain"

I would eventually have Jason just kill some one or two. NA dreplace them with the Female lead character from the Terminator or Ash from the Evil Deads....

Female lead from Terminator was Sarah Conners, FYI.

What's the party cap on this thing? If I remember correctly, the movie had seven characters, eight if you count the Jeykll/Hyde switch(The Hunter, The Apprentice, The Invisible Man, Dracula-like guy, that one chick, and Jekyll/Hyde; am I forgetting someone?).

You forgot Captain Nemo Otaku Son

TheZeroMan 07-11-2004 02:46 AM

The movie had some character just made up for the movie such as the aprentice who was added , and Dorian Gray who wasn't part of the original comic team the original comic had:

Hyde/Jekyll
Allan Quartermain (Hunter)
Mina(who didn't have vampire powers in the comic)
Invisible Man
Nemo

You could add the coach driver but I forget his name...

The movie had... only like 7 so I don't know who your adding... Dorian Gray, Sawyer, QuarterMan, Vampire lady, Hyde/Jekyll(its one guy), Invisible man, Nemo... but Gray was a double agent... and Sawyer was just made up for the movie to help american audiences relate to it or something lame like that.
But my question was who would be in the league if you created it and from what would you draw them from Books, movies, tv?

Party Cap would be 5-6.. maybe like add who's their like boss and/or whos there villian such as Moriaty was the villian in the movie..

h4x.m4g3 07-11-2004 03:07 AM

I'm not sure if the hunter was made up but the apprentice certainly wasn't. Haven't you ever heard of the adventures of Tom Sawyer? or his old best friend/sidekick Huckleberry Finn?

Edit: I know to origins of everybody but the Hunter and the Immortal.

Otaku Son 07-11-2004 03:11 AM

Yes, yes, I understodd where to draw them from. I just wanted to know the party cap, first.

And I would draw mine from American cartoons!

Head Honcho would be Optimus Prime.
Then throw in Eon from Ghostbusters to be our scientist dude.
From X-Men, I'd take Bishop since I think he's pretty bad-ass(and since Reboot is Canadian, I can't take Matrix, so I have to substitute).
Then I'd take Link from the Zelda cartoon; gotta have a quirky guy with an attitude.
And, give me a moment to think of another one or two...

[Edit]h4x, Tom Sawyer was a character made up by Mark Twain.[/Edit]

I know I was responding to TheZeroMMan saying the apprentice (Tom Sawyer) was made specifically for the movie.

Hmmm My team has to be based off anime/comics/video games.
Megaman X would replace the Hunter. (Replacing the Hunter with the Maverick Hunter)
Solid Snake would replace the invisible man.
The Hulk would be substitute to Dr.Jekyl/Mr.Hyde
MacGuyver would take Nemo's place. "Hey guys I made a sub from paperclips used bublegum and some oxygen cylinders"
Morgana (Darkstalkers/Marvel vs Capcom) would replace Mina.
And Axl wold take Tom Sawyer's (The Apprentice's) place.

Edit: And also use the best english possible.

See, I was debating about being a geek about this, but I realized there's already enough of those "Make your own team!" threads in Video Games. Come on, h4x, if I step down, you should, too. But, that's just how I feel about it.

Ghandi
Martin Luther King Jr.

Edit: I know to origins of everybody but the Hunter and the Immortal
The Immortal, Dorian Grey, was from Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Grey. It's a relatively good, and short, book.

The hunter, Alan Quartermain, was from the stories of H. Rider Haggard, such as The Lost City of Gold and King Solomon's Mines.

My team would consist of:

American Rock Star Legend Bruce Springsteen
American B-Movie Legend Bruce Campbell
British Pop Sensation Robbie Williams
Former Terror of the High Seas Blackbeard the Pirate (AKA "Edward Teach.")
Former Terror of the Mid-Afternoon TV Block, Actor Tony Danza
And Mother Brain.

See, with their powers combined, they'd be absolutely unstoppable. Would you want to face this formidable formation of fighters? I wouldn't.

Since most of the "League's" problems happen in Europe, idol Robbie Williams could move in and captivate everyone with his catchy singles, just as he's doing now!

If that doesn't put an end to evil, then Bruce Springsteen and Tony Danza would be like Jekyll and Hide; put them together, and you have a volatile mixture. As they're having a knockout, building-smashing duel over "Who's the REAL Boss," nothing would be left of the bad guys' hideouts except some ripped jeans and a vague, fading scent of machismo.

If that's *STILL* not enough, then Bruce Campbell, Blackbeard, and Mother Brain can form a Triad of Terror and do all the dirty work while Robbie is captivating and The Bosses are sparring. The sheer power behind such an unlikely combination is bound to bring an end to injustice everywhere.
