Collisions of Destiny: Ch 2; In the jungle, the mighty jungle...
The ship shook violently. Giant hole in the deck, a lot of damage, missing a main mast, and a giant dead weight on it all decided that it was the apporpriate time to say ‘HI!” There was one last violent shake, a sputter, then everyone grabbed what they could as they basically entered a free-fall.
Kari glanced over to see what they were entering. A lush jungle. A brief scan of her memory reminded her that this also containde a formerly state of the art lab/manufacturing facility. About five years ago, the genetic experiments had broken out, and left. This basically left very large, ugly, spined, muscled bipedal frogs. Not the ideal conditions. Debris whipped about. The Crow’s Nest snapped off, rushing across the deck, carrying a very startled Kal with it. This piece of wood missed all the crew-members, but somehow caught Sashimi and Asmodeus, tossing them off of the ship. Then the ship hit the treeline, and shook violently. When all was said and done, the entire crew was okay, as was Dezil. His mech was even there! But a few people were missing, scattered about in the jungle… ** Dezil looked around. It was his lucky day! They’d landed right next to some factory they could scrap for parts, (and that he could upgrade his mech with!) and the entire crew was there. Even the damage to the ship wasn’t that bad, and could be repaired easily enough, so they could get out of there. Hell, they were even in a clearing big enough for them to get a launch! Without wasting any time, he started directing the repairs. Apparently the only people missing were Cap’n, sword guy, metal arm guy, horny guy, scary guy, teleportin’ guy, spiky guy, raven guy, and crossbow guy. He looked around, hoped the experiments didn’t get them, and hoped they would have the common sense to traverse the jungle to the pillar of smoke. ** Kari slept. It was a disturbingly peaceful and relaxing sleep. Her eyes fluttered open, taking in the situation. Dark grey. Sunlight. Small tendrils of vines sneaking into the wall. A familiar looking raven hanging from one of said vines. A pair of pants on another of said vines. An…arm sprawled across her? She glanced at who was basically sleeping next to her and holding her…. She snapped fully awake with a start, and stood up, backing away. Derek was still sleeping contentedly. Ironically enough, out of the two of them, she was the only one with a sword. The Raven cawed slightly in his sleep. She ignored it, and noticed Derek wasn’t wearing any pants. Still. So, she grabbed the pants (that oddly enough matched his outfit) from the vine and threw them at him. Then she turned and cut the raven free, dropping it roughly onto the ground. They were in an almost perfect cylinder of stone. In total, it was probably around 15 feet high. She took stock of herself. Nothing seriously hurt. But the top few buttons were missing from her shirt. She glanced at Derek. She ran around three scenarios through her mind of what Derek would say when he woke up. Then she ran another two afterwards after he noticed her appearance. All of them ended with her sword in his face. What does the rest of the crew see in him? ** Kal sighed as he trudged along. Aside from some crazy frog thing attacking them, every second minute Asmodeus tried to kill either him, or Sashimi. All three of them were miraculously uninjured. Well, uninjured being relative. The splinters had cut them a bit, and their clothes were punched with a few holes. He crouched, looking at the signs on the ground. Not much. Something had gone through. He looked up at the giant pillar of smoke. They could still get there. Calmly, he rose, and said, “Let’s keep moving people.” At about that moment, Asmodeus yelled, “PLAY-TIME!!” Kal calmly turned, and blocked the sword strike with his metal arm. Quickly, he spun around behind Asmodeus, and slammed his elbow into the back of his head, simontaneously kicking a knee out. As Asmodeus fell to his knees, Kal turned again and rabbit-punched as hard as he could, this time with his metal arm. Asmodeus fell flat on his face, and groaned a bit. The man was amazingly resilient. A bored Sashimi had wittled a Bokken while waiting for Kal and Asmodeus to wake up, then promptly used it as his own method of Asmodeus control. Even after being beaten with a metal fist, and hit in various important parts with a Bokken, the crazy-guy still wouldn’t stay down. Kal had just accepted this neccesary delivery of pain as part of his current life. Sashimi walked up beside Kal. “So, what do you think? Around four hours?” Sashimi calmly asked. “Nah. I’d put my money on another five.” Kal replied. Asmodeus rose and tried for an overhand strike. With amazing grace, Sashimi pulled the Bokken and a katana. The katana blocked the strike before Sashimi twisted and threw Asmodeus past him. The Bokken then contacted solidly with Asmodeus’ temple, dropping Asmodeus like a sack of bricks. Kal sighed, and scratched at the back of his head. “You know, I’d really like it if he would stop trying to kill us…. ** David, Jude, and Will were all sprawled about. A waterfall was right next to them. They were all perfectly unharmed. Even better, they could actually see the ship when they woke up. Unfortunately…it was around 40 miles away. And they were on a mountain. None of them had woken up yet. In comparison to the others, they were in amazingly good shape. No crazy killer, or equally crazy pretty boy. |
Sashimi twirled the katana and bokken in his hands, and sheathed them.
"Hmm. He's so much like a child, it scares me. There's nothing more pure, and more cruel, than a child. Sure, I've killed quite a few in my day, but I don't get all my enjoyment from it." Asmodeus began to squirm again. Sashimi kicked him in the side. "I'll give him one thing. He doesn't go down easy." |
"Amazingly enough, I think I dented a knuckle."
Kal looked closer over his metal arm. "This arm has survived having the equivalent of two tons thrown at it, and survived. And I dented a knuckle on it, punching this guy. What are the odds?" Asmodeus started to say something. Kal kicked him again. "If you start another Haiku, I'll kill you." |
Will woke up rubbing his head. He had landed on it after teleporting back onto the ship. And unknown to him, he landed on it again after being thrown off the ship. When he opened his eyes and saw a waterfall, Will was confused. After taking a moment to think, he figured that the giant robot had destroyed the airship enough for it to crash, and he was sent flying off of the ship.
Deciding to take a moment to find out where he was, Will teleported to the top of the waterfall. In the distance he saw the airship, which he assumed was about 30 miles away. That might take a minute to get to... But what about those guys? Will thought to himself as he glanced from the airship to the two unconcious people at the bottom of the waterfall. If I go now, I can easily get there in a minute. But if I take them with me, I might accidently put one of their arms into a tree, and it would take me much longer to get there... Will sat down on a nearby rock and thought about what he should do. |
The raven changed into a dark dressed man. "Well this is interesting. You feeling ok?"
|
Without warning, an armored hand seized Kal's foot as the other got an iron grip on Sashimi's leg. Asmodeus pulled with the strength of a fallen angel, pulling the two to the ground, then crossing his arms and throwing them into the undergrowth. Pulling himself up, he planted his sword into the ground, waiting for them to get to their feet.
"...You two... no fun..." Then he turned to the direction they had been traveling in just now and began to hew a path through the jungle, dooming various rare species of flora with each swing. A tree got in his way. Asmodeus hacked it down in two strokes, and as the hulk fell on him, he punched it once, shattering it into matchsticks, mumbling insane paeans about moonlight and death as he did. |
"I should probably give you your buttons back. Sorry when I'm a raven, I'm a raven. They were so sparkly and beautiful." Meth pulled the shiny metal buttons out of his pocket.
|
Jude awoke with a start, spraying quills into the waterfall before he realized it wasn't the giant metal head. He steadied the world's rocking by placing his hand to his forehead, then worked out that he (and apparently Dave) had been flung from the ship...which was aways a way if the view he was looking at wasn't a forest-mirage.
He stood up to test his body, thought he heard a rustling and splatter but decided it was just the aftershock. Deciding against waking his friend up, he looked around, but never got around to looking up. |
Sashimi pulled himself from the undergrowth.
"Well, if anything, he makes a very nice trailblazer. That's a rather nice path he's making for us." Sashimi waved his arm over the destruction of Asmodeus' rampage. "Shall we follow?" |
Derek woke up groggily as the pants hit him directly in the face, and then sat up, rubbing his eyes a bit before grinning at Kari. "Good morning, sweetie. Sleep well?" he asked, still grinning at her as he pulled himself to his feet and started to step into his pants.
