Must you even ask? Hah! *breaks down laughing*

IHateMakingNames 08-11-2004 08:23 PM

Puh, Bombshell's is much better. It makes you think.

Royalspork 08-11-2004 08:39 PM

IHMN, stop insulting me. I have my weaknesses as do you, I can beat you at chess, and you can type better.

Dragonsbane 08-11-2004 08:44 PM

IHMN insults everyone, HoP, it's how he compensates.

lazy man 08-11-2004 08:51 PM

Eh, I'll join just so I can have another thing to do. Don't expect me to do much right now though, my normal computer's dead (I know I probably have some time, but just in case it starts up soon).

And is there gonna be a different name for the next one, because the current name kinda bothers me for some reason.

Dragonsbane 08-11-2004 09:00 PM

I have to admit, I had no idea what Ziff and Lance were doing for most of the RP.............and I wanted to compare them repeatedly to Gollum and Smeagol.

and yes, I got the "Ministry of Darkness" reference.........I was thinking that Shield of Lies would make a good title for the RP?

(SAAM gave me the name, I take no credit for it)

Royalspork 08-11-2004 09:32 PM

I sense another al-bannar rp

secretskull 08-12-2004 01:37 AM

slightly aboveaverage man 08-12-2004 09:47 AM

DB, I just PMed you some new idea's for the plot.

Lazy: Great to have you. And I totally agree with your Name statement. I still can't stand it, but I did send DB some 10 ideas for new names.

SS: shouldn't be too much of a problem; but if we start the Sign-up on Saturday, chances are that the RP will not start until Monday, so you should be safe even then.

Royalspork 08-12-2004 10:08 AM

also my school starts up on tuesday :(

slightly aboveaverage man 08-12-2004 10:15 AM

In August?

Wierd. It doesn't usually start around here until September. Anyway, that shouldn't be too much of a problem, after all, RP's don't usually progress too far in one day.

IHateMakingNames 08-12-2004 10:42 AM

How did the last RP go anyway?

slightly aboveaverage man 08-12-2004 11:30 AM

Okay, here is the basic outline of the last RP.

The world was different back then. A select few people of differing species had the power to control the elements. The power of these elements was focused within a great shrine known as the Fingers of God. Each pillar (or Finger in this case) contained the power of one element and served as the nexus of it's power: The Spirit of the Element.

One Spirit, the Element of Air had been taken long ago into the body of the King of the Avariel. It served him and his predicessors until the line was broken. This occured when Gwaethir, an Avariel with the elemental powers of Wind conspired with the kings daughter to overthrow him. The Tyrant had his own daughter killed for treason and forced Gwaethir to watch. Afterwards, Gwaethir lashed out and destroyed the monarchy, taking the kingdom, and the now corrupted spirit for himself.

Flash Forward a few centuries. The Spirit of Water is the first to come to full sentience, and eventually turns down the road of evil. It inhabits the body of a Barbarian warrior who is fully willing to accept it. It then uses the Warrior to create chaos within the world, until it is challanged by a Rogue traveler by the name of Jericho. Jericho too had the power of the wind on his side, and the two battled for days; both were critically wounded, but it appeared that the Spirit of Water would prevail, though the Barbarians body would not live for long afterwards. It was then that Judas, the elven Fiance of Jericho arrived and intervened. She forged a deal with the spirit: She would accept it into her own body in order to preserve the spirits life if the Spirit of Water promised not to kill Jericho. The spirit accepted and inhabited Judas' body, completely possessing her and begining another reign of terror.

Seven years later, Delmenon, a Barbarion with the powers of Earth and Fire left his home on a mission to destroy several other elementals that seemed to be wreaking havoc in the world. He came across several others who were on a similar quest, including Ziff the Pyromancer, Kerik of the Ice element, and Jericho the Windrider.

As the group traveled the lands looking for the Evil elementals, they came across a Drow by the name of Talos. They believed he was the Evil Elemental of Shadow and attacked him; but soon learned that he had fled the other elementals after his Brother Tanthalas of Lightning and his Ice Troll partner Ze took his own sister Tamona (a Drow priestess) hostage. The Group pledged to assist Talos in finding his Sister once more and setting her free.

Meanwhile, Judas lead Tanthalas, Gwaethir, Ze and Jack (a Geomancer) to the Fingers of God, attempting to convince them to take the spirits into their bodies to boost their powers exponentially. All but Jack and Gwaethir accepted. Gwaethir was already the host of the Air spirit, and Jack did not trust Judas. He fled and eventually joined the league of Heroes.

It was soon after that Ze and Tanthalas fought with the heroes for the Life of Tamona; but were forced to flee when Talos set her free. She used her powers of magnetism to assist her liberators. Meanwhile, Jericho fought in a battle of will against Gwaethir, eventually ending in a stalemate as they countered each others attacks, but the Windrider was forced to flee when Judas came to the Avariel King's assistance.

The Evils spread out and attacked various territories, while the heroes recovered from their battle. It was at this time that they decided that Talos, Jericho, Delmenon and Tamona would infiltrate the Avariel Kingdom and attempt to overthrow Gwaethir. After gaining entrance to the giant floating city, they learned of Gwaetir's past and were prepared to regroup when Talos went on a rampage within the Avariel Palace. Sensing the Chaos, Gwaethir traveled back to his citadel and fought with the heroes. It seemed that he was even more powerful than all them combined when he was in his city, an Jericho soon discovered why. A beast of pure air resided within the throne room, providing Gwaethir with near unlimited power, but the beast was not corrupted as Gwaethir was. Jericho convinced the Beast to reject its master, and then confronted Gwaethir with his own actions. Realizing the corruption that the Spirit of Air caused, the Avariel king forced his will upon the rebelling spirit. He became the benevolent ruler he wished to be and vowed to atone for his actions. It was then that Tanthalas and Ze showed up, terrorizing the Avariel and splitting the city in half. Talos sought out his brother and killed him, but there was a sacred link between them, and Talos too died. Ze, seeing his friend and ally killed, took his own life.

But The Drow were not gone forever. Their bodies were reforged by the mark of the Spider Slayer, granting them both new powers and life.

That night, Judas was confronted by an army of 100,000 troops of all races. She slaughtered them horribly. Sensing the great loss of life, Kerik sought out and attacked Judas, using powers he had not used before. It still was not enough to defeat her, as Tanthalas soon arrived and assisted Judas in hunting down the Ice user. Judas was about to strike down the now-unconsious Kerik, when Jericho swooped in and brought the young man to safety.

Judas, in her rage took Tanthalas to her host's homeland of Tigris, the Forest of the Elves. While Amos, her brother cheered her return, her father, the King Euphrades knew of her possession. Amos rode out to welcome her back, and to attack Tanthalas whome he thought was chasing Judas. But Judas had no intention of returning the welcome. She and Tanthalas raized the forest and killed all inhabitants, including King Euphrades. Her hosts soul inside her screamed in grief, but the Spirit of Water pressed on. She lead Tanthalas to the southern Ice Caps and began to melt every inch of ice, intending to flood the world.

The heroes, with Gwaethir at their side tracked Judas and Tanthalas' path, discovering the Forest of Elves destroyed and that the world was slowly flooding. They too followed the Elementals to the Ice Caps and fought a great battle for the fate of the world.

Jericho used a power granted to him by the beast within the Avariel throne room to remove his own spirit from his body. His soul spread into the body of Judas and forced the Spirit of Water from her form. Without a host, the spirit of water was sucked back into the Fingers of God. Returning to his body, Jericho collapsed beside Judas.

It was while Talos fought Tanthalas that Delmenon summoned a great Dragon, which removed the Sacred Mark upon both Talos' and Tanthalas' bodies; and too removing their bond. Talos slew Tanthalas there in the snow. Kerik then attempted to undo the damage that the Spirit of Water had caused, refreezing the icecaps. But it was revealed that the Spirit of Ice had inhabited him after leaving Ze. The Spirit began to freeze all water in the world, attempting to plunge it into a second Ice Age. In despiration, Kerik fell on his own sword, killing himself and forcing the spirit back into the Fingers of God; as Delmenon used all the power he could summon to undo the damage that the Spirit of Ice had caused.

The Great Powers of the Elements then conversed, seeing the damage that some of them had caused, they destroyed the Fingers of God in hopes that a catastrophy like this would never happen again.

IHateMakingNames 08-12-2004 11:42 AM

Why is everyone just one element, while Delmenon has two?

Lastly, does one need a/the spirit in them to be able to use magic?

slightly aboveaverage man 08-12-2004 11:48 AM

No, Ze killed himself after Talos was "killed" by Talos the first time. A spirit cannot inhabit something that's dead. The Spirit left Ze and inhabited Kerik. Kerik tried to use the spirit for good, but it had been corrupted by Ze earlier on. (spirits are very impressionable) It used Kerik to freeze the earth's water. Kerik killed himself to stop the Spirit from killing everyone on earth.

And Delmenon has two elements because Dragonsbane didn't know which one he wanted more, and every element had already been taken.

No one does not need a spirit. Spirits merely make an elemental character Uber.

But all spirits are gone in the new RP, so there is no Uberness. Just basic Element magic.

Anyway, I have to go now. later.

Royalspork 08-12-2004 12:05 PM

wow this rp was better than I thought, It could be a full story.
kerik was me!

can we atleast have the full next rp story? and saam you forgot the epiloge, but IHMN can look that up.

slightly aboveaverage man 08-12-2004 02:31 PM

The Epilogue is more of a set-up for this next RP. It's nothing major, just tieing up the loose ends.

Royalspork 08-12-2004 02:37 PM

wait I thought the next rp is some 100ish years later

Dragonsbane 08-12-2004 05:22 PM

to answer IHMN's question, the barbarians are a people of fire, of change, and all too often...a people of destruction. They are fierce and dangerous.....yet they have deep ties to the Earth, to the land, and they know it better than almost any other race. Delmenon was born with a gift for both, which isn't so uncommon among his tribe......just like some Avariel have Air/Lightning powers.

spellcasting is now necessary to use more than the most rudimentary powers of your element......and there isn't any more city-blasting like in the last RP (I had fun RPing Gwaethir the Hurricane, though :D)

technically, Kerik fell on his own spear........but thats just a nitpicky little point, and falling on a sword sounds cooler.

here's another villain with a big part in the story...

Name: Jaral
Species: half-drow
Gender: male
Element: Shadow
Age: young adult
Weapon(s): Quickstrike, a ninja-to with a blade forged of black steel.....to prevent it from reflecting light that would alert a victim. Shuriken enchanted to magically return to their pouch after being used, also various poisons, smoke bombs, knockout gas, simple explosives, that sort of thing.

Clothing: ninja garb. Black mask (ninja mask), black clothing that allow him to blend into the night, with a black sash that has pouches holding many of the tools of his trade.

Appearance: A master of the shadows, Jaral is an assassin swathed in black, a professional killer unmatched. His skills are even more complete than those of his brethren, allowing him to be as silent and invisible as a shadow in the night. His hair is very pale blonde , and his skin is dark, reflecting his half-drow heritage. His eyes are yellow-red, his gaze terrifying to his victims. He is strong, like his father's people....but with the lithe grace and catlike stealth of his mother's drow kindred.

Bio: as a child, Jaral never wanted to play fair.......when his brothers and their friends would challenge him to games of mock combat, he always preferred the ones that allowed him to lurk in the shadows, taking his brothers by surprise in the rocky gullies and chasms near their home. He disdained fair combat, believing it to be pointless...and after deciding that he didn't fit in with the rest of his family, or his parents Delmenon and Tamona, he ran away from home. He eventually reached the newly-formed Southern Empire.....carving out a place for himself as a hired assassin, a skilled ninja, and becoming one of the most feared members of the most powerful guild in the city.

Royalspork 08-12-2004 05:25 PM

yes I was going to say the spear thing, but he didn't fall in it he stuck it in his chest

suprising your opponant in war isn't evil it's called an ambush, and is used all the time

Dragonsbane 08-12-2004 05:43 PM

I know about the spear, it's just an expression....

he's a cold, ruthless assassin, of course he's evil!

Bombshell 08-12-2004 05:50 PM

I think we should start a new discussion thread now.

Dragonsbane 08-12-2004 06:04 PM

right-o! One Shield of Lies RP pre-sign up Discussion Thread coming riiiiiiiiight up!
