Quickie RP Signup
Yes, i've done it, I've come up with an idea to make an RP that, in terms of time, should last about as long as most good times, all great times, and most likely, your first time. This is a fairly casual quickie (no more than 1 or 2 weeks if you so wish) with about 6 openings.
El Cuento: In the far Southeast Atlantic, there's a volcanic island that has in its past, been rocked by enormous eruptions. The last such eruption happened approximately 30 years ago, and as a culmination of years of stress, severely fractured the bedrock of the island's Northwestern face, the site of the mountain itself. An impossibly huge section of the mountain and Island was almost fully separated and dumped into the sea, but fell to rest after only a few inches descent. Had this chunk of land fallen into the sea, it would have sent an immense tidal wave racing for the east coast of the Americas, most directly effecting the US eastern Seaboard. Since that time, geological sensors and satellite thermal imaging have tracked that volcano's every grumble and hiccup, providing the best possible early warning. Since that time, no traces of trouble have been found, but a previously undetected hotspot, an upwelling of magma from the earth's mantle, is about to change things in a span of time too short for technology to do its work in full. You folks aren't going to be bold geologists and physicists sent suicidally in an incredibly advanced magma-submersible to avert the disaster, no, you will be vacationers in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. If you've got a question as to just what that place is, well, go to google and find out. With that said, the simple signup is: Name: Age: Sex: Appearance: Equipment (any crap you happen to have on you): Bio: Now, I have space for 6 people max. That is, 6 people posting; You may have 2 characters, one preferrably being a family member or significant other of the other, but no more than that. I'll put mine up in a bit. |
I'll join. I think I'll enjoy being a tourist for once.
|
most excellent!
oh, and btw, I think it'd be cool if your first (or only) character could be your real world self, just for kicks... |
Hmmm, bored 15-year-old getting a bad case of sunburn on some tropical island? Works for me.
|
Or 20-year old army medic, WPWT? Okay, I'm in.

Name: John Rogers (not my real name, but resembles it) Age: 16 Sex: Male Appearance: Lanky, pale, brown hair and eyes, glasses, has a wiry and paranoid look to him. Wears plain t-shirts and jeans. Equipment: Wallet, glasses case, and anything that's a better weapon than the previous, preferably a shovel or hatchet. Bio: His dad is a narcist, his sister's a bigot, his brother has a superiority complex, and his mother is in denial. He has a mental condition that makes him antisocial. Will attack anyone who makes a Harry Potter joke about him. His nickname is Bones (he's about 6 foot and 120 lbs) |
Hm... I don't suppose you have room for a fat 17 year old shut in who has no life what-so-ever...
(I don't like myself much...) |
I don't see how a hotspot is such a bad thing...you do know that Hawaii and Japan are all hotspots. And all a hotspot is, is magma along a plate that is moving, causing it to create islands in a row. If you can explain it deeper to me on what we'll be doing and the danger of it all, I'll be more then glad to join...

MC, Muktar, Dante, Lazy, glad to have you along. Crimson, you too, but I'll answer your question first: you know your geology, and that's good, and you're exactly right as to what a hotspot is. Now, I mentioned that the island was rocked by an eruption that almost knocked a piece of the landmass off into the sea, causing a cataclysmic tsunami. That just barely didn't happen the last time, but this time, as a hotspot (as you correctly identified as moving bodies of magma in the earth's crust) is about to move under the volcano and cause it to erupt again, this time surely sending the side of the mountain plummeting into the ocean, we're going to be caught at unawares and panic will surely ensue.
-The kicker to all of this is that at the time the eruption happens, you'll all be vacationing or working on the barrier Islands of North Carolina, in a town I'll specify later. To specify as to the problem, you're in the direct path of a 300 foot wave that will wash away everything 20 miles inland. You just don't know it yet. |
Oooh ok, I hope I didn't come off too rude. I guess I just didn't understand, but thank you for taking time to explain it to me, but ok. I guess I'm in then.
Name: Arlene Rinslet Age: 18 Appearance: Chestnut colored skin, deep brown locks of hair that gleam bronze, and golden brown eyes with green flects. Equipment: Back pack, lap top, cloths, journal, anything having to do with wash up needs, cliff climbing needs, such as rope and etc., along with a seismicwave counter, a few pairs of gloves and some glass tubes. Such on so forth. (I know there would probably be more, but can't think of it at the moment. Please bare with me.) Bio: Her whole life she has always been good in sience, (that is such a lie in real life, lol) building up for her future job. Already colleges are willing to acept her even though she is just finishing up her last day of high school, but now with a rather high company of scientists willing to take her in early, of course she wouldn't turn them down. Living a simply life and working four days a week at the building, the other three at home on her lap top. |
