Tales of Phantasia
first off, GREAT GAME
second off, which ones were released in the US? Were any of them? will I find Tales of Destiny/Phantasia for PSX in the local rare game dealer? could I order it online with a company that doesn't sell it becaues it 'fell out of a truck'? |
Tales of Phantasia never came out to the US because it was supposedly too wild for American audiences. Tales of Destiny...I believe I've heard has come out in the US, though I don't know where you could find it, though checking a local Gamestop or EB games could never hurt.

I love Tales of Destiny. (and the other "Tales" games)
Tales of Phantasia was never released in america, but you can get a translated version on an emulator Tales of Destiny (the BEST of the bunch) is a PS game, it's hard to find. Tales of Destiny 2 is alright, and slightly easier to find. Tales of Symphonia, I know nothing about. |
i have only played tales of symphonia and it is THE BEST game i have ever played.. EVER and ive been around since NES and if these other versions are good then i must look into them
|
Hmm ... Tales of Destiny is rare, eh? Better hang on to that copy of yours, Celes.

*sigh*
What luck. I have a very immature friend who basically gave me this as a trade, and I swear he thinks it's a fair deal. "You want Tales of Destiny?" "Yeah." "Ok, gimme your Xbox." "...no." "Well, then I can't help you." *sigh* Fortunately I have Tales of Phantasia for my SNES. I just want Tales of Destiny since it's a great game... and my friend is a dick, so it looks like I wont get it.. |
Tales of Phantasia came out for the SNES, PSX, and GBA and got passed over for US release all three times. We also missed out on Tales of Destiny 2 (Which is a PS2 game, the ToD2 we got was originally Tales of Eternia) and we'll have to wait and see if they'll be nice and bring over Tales of Rebirth.
Symphonia is quite good thus far, I'm a good few hours into the game and I'm enjoying it. I'm a bit disappointed in that I thought the battles were going to resemble Star Ocean (Free-roaming 3D), but it's a very minor gripe. The system they have works just fine, just not quite what I was expecting. Mirai, you can probably get a copy of ToD for under or around $50 on ebay no problem (I see one listed right this second with less than an hour to go with a $49.99 buy it now!). I bought mine thru work (Gamestop) at $25 used, check out the stores in your location and see if anyone has it. Hell, I just scored Ogre Battle Ltd. Edition, Vagrant Story, Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo, Saga Frontier and Persona (All for PSX) for $90 today at one of the stores I used to work at... you can get rare stuff cheap if you know where and how to look. EBGames is usually within $5 in either direction on those types of games, so check them out too. |

Yeah. It'll be really nice someday in the distant future if the rom-hackers and translators can start working on PSX games. I can only imagine what a nightmare that must be, taking into account how long some of the SNES games have been in the works. DQ6 *still* isn't completely done!

I fortunately have a copy of ToP for SNES, but I was hoping for a PSX version with the cutscenes. Damn you sweeden! (weebl and bob quote)
