A boomerang, are you insane? Let me put it this way, If you throw a weapon at some one, do you really want it comming back at you? I think not. This is why boomerangs are a plaything, War boomerangs are used as a weapon, but those don't come back. You really don't want them too.
|
With wind, I can make it come back even if it hits a guy. And why wouldn't you want it to come back? It worked pretty well in Lunar 2.
|
If it's dangerous enough to be used as a thrown weapon, it's going to be dangerous enough to kill your ass on the return. That's why.
|
Oh that? Cmon, he can just slow it down and grab it safely on the return. If IHMN can be 2/3rds whatever, you can't be mistaken for a girl, then a Wind Elemental can safely grab a boomerang.
|
Wizard did it argument is acceptable, so how big of a boomerang are we talking?
|
Uhmm...boomerang sized? I dunno, medium?
|
nothing bigger than 5 pounds, actually anything heavier than 1 pound is almost silly, if you expect it to be thrown any long distance.
|
Actually, a girl in Inuyasha uses an abnormally large boomerang. She has a special strap attached to the bottom so that when it comes back, she grabs the strap instead of the boomerang itself.
|
So does this mean you're going to join Raiden?
|
Inuyasha doesn't count. It also has a monk with a miniature black hole in his hand. We don't want one of those either (assuming we're trying to avoid god modding, that is).
|
I take it by IHMN's list, one of two things:
I didn't make the cut. or IHMN hates me for some obscure reason. |
Or he didn't see/ forgot about your sign up sheet. He does that more than you might think.
|
HOLY CRAPFUCK!
Computr dead. Will be back soon...ish. |
I don't know which mythos you are using as the basis for your story, therefore I simply stated my race as "elf" I know a bit about your standard D&D elf races, and would have been more specific if I knew that was what was going on here. I assumed it was a fantasy setting due to all the other characters, and so an elf seemed logical.
As far as me being "wrong" in some capacity, I'm sorry if I don't fit whatever mold you consider to be an acceptable person. So on that note, despite most likely engendering the enmity of this elitist group of chums, I must withdraw my character application. I ams what I ams and thats alls I can be. peace out yo. |
Zoamelgustar- There isn't too much wrong with your character. SS was just saying with:
Quote:
If you still feel like you want to pull out, I'm sorry it didn't work out. |

Name: Gar (Garfield Thelonius Remington III) Race: Human, though he doesn't look that way. Age: 26 Height: 7'1" Weight: 320 lbs. Class: Frenzied Berserker Physical description: A huge hulk of a man, Gar is usually swathed in heavy animal skins, being that they're the only thing large enough for him to wear. While appearing to be the epitome of an unwashed barbarian, upon closer inspection, one might notice that his clothes and equipment are of high quality, and that his bearing and grooming are quite impeccable. That is, if one isn't deterred by the huge blade he carries on his back, which is more akin to a sharpened surfboard than any form of weapon known to man. Bio: Garfield Thelonius Remington III was born to aristocracy. He should have become a nose-in-the-air snob. Instead, when he was delivered, his mother took one look at him, screamed, and fainted. Gar had been born looking like a half-ogre, despite his immaculate pedigree, and as a result he was abandoned in the wilderness for the wolves to eat. But Fate had different plans for him, and he was picked up by the Crimson Wolverine Berserker Lodge, a wandering company of berserker warriors, who sensed something special about him. However, it was soon clear that the bloodline had been passed on - where his peers were crude and boorish, Gar was restrained, refined even, at times. Of course, this didn't stop him from being able to go into a screaming blood frenzy when neighbouring lodges, fierce animals, errant adventurers and other miscreants crossed their paths. One day, however, Gar came across the midwife who had delivered him, and she recognized him by his unusual looks and the birthmark of a crown on his neck. She told him who he was, but said that she no longer remembered where the Remingtons could be found. Gar decided to make a break with the Crimson Wolverine Lodge, and while they were sad to see him go, they gave him the battleblade they had found during the course of their travels. Gar now travels the world looking for his original family. Along the way, he has developed many of the trappings of a gentleman, including proper elocution, manners, and knowledge of the customs and ways of the civilized world. Still, he finds much joy in smashing in the heads of arrogants who look down on him. Name: Virgil Race: Human Age: 24 Height: 6'2" Weight: 170 lbs Class: White Mage Physical description: A youngish-looking man in black and yellow robes, Virgil is actually a wandering adept of a hospitaler order, specializing in curative and defensive magics. He carries a staff, but it is more for supporting himself than anything else. Bio: Virgil was raised by a hospitaler order, as mentioned earlier. This order is unique in that it provides its recruits with the knowledge they need to survive in the world, then turns them loose and tells them to "come back when you've learned something". Virgil was just released a couple of weeks ago, and he's still trying to find his way int he world... Name: Talan Race: Human Age: 27 Height: 6'p" Weight: 160 lbs Class: Mage-thief Physical description: Short-haired with an earring in his right ear and a bandana on his head, Talan looks more like a rogue than a mage. He dresses casually, wearing a light jacket over a simple shirt and pants ensemble. Bio: Talan grew up in the back alleys of a city, and he learned to steal and hide as a way to survive on the mean streets. Unlike many of his peers, he manage to thrive in adversity, and earned a quiet reputation as the "Prince of Thieves" in the city. He even managed to hook up with a girl called from the city's mage guild, and he learned some simple magic from her, which he immediately put to use in his larcenous exploits. One day, however, she suddenly disappeared, and just as immediately, the law decided to finish him off once and for all. He barely escaped the crackdown with his life, with only the burning desire to find his missing friend to keep him going. Talan moves from place to place, looking for clues as to where she is, but taking up whatever job offers may cross his path. And of course, a little bit of judicious theft never hurt anyone... did it? |
I'm leaning towards the thief, as long as most of his magic his thief related. We have a berserker, and the white mage would probably make battles turn out "GARTACK" *block* "DAMN".
And my guy isn't really a mage, his wind powers are just to make his boomerangs into spinning death, like Hiro in Lunar 2. Although his boomerangs aren't Inuyasha sized. |
Well...I'm mostly answering questions now...assuming Raiden gets his ass around to posting Thomas, and I get my ass around to posting the first Kal...and FZ gets his ass around to making Dezil for this world...
IHMN- Been two years. No I didn't have it planned. BUT Celes said two years and it sounds right. Memory wise, we remember everything, but the closer we get to that battle the fuzzier it gets, and we can't remember the battle at all. And that super ninja strike force thing was situational! I used it ONCE. ONCE. And they weren't even ninjas....just a bunch of living legends... To Celes- Wow...a lot of people are gonna' hate me after the first chapter, huh? (Mages) |
Great, am I gunna get shafted because I can control wind? Wind Spirit controlling wind does not a mage make, or something like that.
And was Raiden the half angel? And under what circumstances does the thought "Ya know, this post could use a ninja strike force, for story reasons." pop into your head? |
No one is gonna' get shafted.
And Myst was the half-angel. Raiden was the half-demon. And that's for me to know, and you ta' find out sonny! |
I guess from the fact that no one said anything I can join then.
Name: Fredan Grenthis Race: Half Elf (if that's allowed) Height: 6'5" Weight: 150 lbs Class: Illusionist/Warrior Physical Discription: He has straight, shoulder lengh black hair and dark brown eyes. He is pale skined and slightly pointed ears and thin sharp eybrows due to his elven heritage. He always wears dark clothes and carries two simple short swords at his waist. Bio: He has the power to manipulate what people can see, such as making his sword seem twice as big or the objects around the come alive. He also uses his power to change his physical appearance when he has to. He can't create new objects or surroundings. He is trained as a warrior and is an expert with swords, he is not comfortable with other weapons although he still has some skill with them. |
heh heh, I feel very stupid here, I thought you were talking about me personally, not my character. sorry about that. You can say whatever you want about my character, doesn't really bother me. I guess I must have been really tired or something, I completely misconstrued your statement.
I'll fix the character if you like, I'd go with high elf as the race. any other suggestions? |
Well, here's me. Zoal, I'll e-mail you the un-neccesary but probably benificial info about the elves.
Name:Kal Race: high elf Age: Something like 279 Height and weight:6 feet, 90 (elves tend to be really weird around those points, as previously explained) Class: Knight/Swordmaster Physical Description: Well, last RP he was dressed like Link in a way. Not now. Since the last one, he's done a bit of "growing up" He wears pure white, as always, and nothing but. He's grown his hair out a bit, and it seems naturally inclined to spike, as well as a small beard (Amazing for an elf) He wears a tunic, with a jerkin/leather armour piece over it, that lets the sleeves out. His arms are bare down his forearms which have bracers on them (White as usual) Typically (if travelling) he either has a great-coat, or a cloak on. White. Over his back is his large, two-handed, VERY magical sword, around his waist are various pouches. Few know that a lot of them contain thread. He also has his two jagged daggers on his waist. That have gold skulls at the pommels. He also has various outfits for different occasions. These will come into effect later, whenever I feel particularily vain. Bio: The mind is an amazing thing. With some people, they have an amazing resiliency. Kal is one of those people. His real father died when he was young. His mother married who she thought was a good man, but was really a power-hungry maniac. He beat his mother, and forced her to use her magic, and ordered Kal like a slave. When he forced Kal to join the Knight orders, Kal gladly left. He seemed strictly average in his classes. But, oddly enough, Eltharion, the blind swordsman of the Swordmasters chose to take a knight-in-training and squire him. They weren't even the same orders. This worked. Kal grew, and became absolutely lethal with his blade. During the thirteenth crusade, Kal was captured, beaten, branded, and also raped. BUT Eltharion's private charge broke in at the last moment, and Kal had heard of the orc's plans. Following this, Kal practiced fervently. His torso is covered in hideous scars that will always remind him. His best friend died saving him. If it could go wrong, it did. If it's an enemy, he's had to face it. While not as legendary or revered as his mentor, Kal is well known. The fact that he dresses in pure white just like his mentor, and has a knight-emblem similar to Eltharion's helps to distinguish him. Kal is a veteran. He has faced almost everything. And through all the tragedy, he still comes out as happy and carefree as anyone. It is truly amazing. He's saved his mother and gotten his step-father hanged. His mother is an insanely powerful stitch-witch, so Kal himself has some minor thread magic. However, foremost, he's a Swordmaster. He uses the magical sword of his order to do what he believes neccesary to protect the masses, and quite a few "evil entities" have a grudge against him. Largely, Eltharion is more famous and legendary than him, but the killing of Shavira was a large step forward for Kal (Who doesn't give a s*** about the fame anyways.) And let me state it now...Yes. He's god-moddy. Basically, in one straight forward way. Out of the entire group, he will have the greatest martial-prowess and experience. However, on the bad-side, even what he does gets exxagerated. Instead of killing an orc scouting group, the stories will be like him taking down an army. So, people have a horrible tendency to turn towards him and expect him to take down everything. That...and every time he's taken something big down, he has a bad tendency to be confined to his bed for a few months. That too. |
I say the white mage for Dante. We need a healer. That, and I don't like barbarians, and after that you still only have mages to choose from, and the white mage is more useful.
And Raiden was just a normal human with a god moddy demon eye (Which I still say has to go). Also, SS, that has got to be the worse downside to being god moddy ever. People turn to you to kill stuff first, oh goodness no... And your bringing that stitch witch shit back... Ugh... |
Picture this...
"Oh no, there's an army bearing down on us! We're doomed. But wait! We have Kal! Kal, you can take that army, can't you?" "Uh...no I can't. It's a frickin' army.' "Alright. Hey everybody, Kal's gonna' beat the army!" "No I'm not." "Whoooo!" "Screw this. I'm grabbing some anchovies, then I'm hauling my ass out of here." |
You just ruined your own arguement in that post... Kal can just not go. He can ignore it, maybe by getting some anchoives then hauling his ass out of there.
Edit - Also, this is past the page limit. |
ok, character 2.0, warhammer style as it were...
name: Gilead Lothain Race: High Elf age: 112 heigt: 5' 11'' weight: 145 (I know you made a big fuss about elves being light, but given your own source material there is no justification for making them THAT light! GW elves are pretty burly, especially the fightin' kind, so give me a break will ya?) class: reaver (basically a scout skilled in horse back tactics and traversing difficult terrain, an elven guerilla warrior basically) Physical description: Slender and muscular, his hair is the color of dark ash. He wears a stern look across his long face at most times. He wears light chain armor when in the field, and loose fitting, neutral colored clothes when not. His horse, Aerendir, is a dappled grey elven steed, a majestic beast with a soul of fire. Bio: Carrying the torch that his forefathers boar for so many generations, Gilead walks the path of the reaver. He is a shadow menace for the dark enemies of his people, and spends many long months away from the comforts of civilization. He is quite talkative when given the chance, a side effectof having to endure so many nights of silence. he appears to be angry at most times, but the face he wears is simply his natural countenance, rarely does he smile for no reason, but when he does the difference in his appearance is staggering. He is an expert marksman, outstripping the skill of many who are centuries his senior, and is quite skilled with an elven longsword. His faithful mount Aerendir is never far from him, and the two act as one in battle. |
See, now I'm ready to kick you out.
Mostly because you just copied Gilead from Gilead's Blood. And this is not a GW RP. I based a bit of the Elves off of what they wrote in Warhammer Armies: High Elves. You're going off and assuming far too much. |
hey, SS, good job reviving this, and I wish you the best of luck. Actually, if you want to know how I planned for it to end, I'll PM you that, although you don't have to use it obviously. I may join too, but right now I don't have enough time to.
