Not all movies dominate as games lots of movie games suck.

Zone of the Enders 2 should be made into a movie. Lots of movie games suck because they cut out 90% of the game making it suck. But Z.O.E. 2 can be beaten in about two hours so they wouldn't cut out much. (not sure about Z.O.E. 1). It wouold make an awesome Giant Robot fighting movie like Mechwarrior would without cutting out 60% of the game like a MechWarrior Movie would. Also if Mechwarror was made into a Movie then how would you choose which Mech to use in each scene. Sorry if it seems like I'm raggin on Mechwarrior but I was just thinking of the reasons it wouldn't work. Thats the problem with games with too much customization they could never be transplanted into a movie well. Mecwarrior, Armored Core, Star Wars: KOTOR, Morrowind etc etc.

Pokemon Must be destroyed... dot com.

They need a Dead or Alive Porno....reasons are obvious.

Grim Fandango should have been made in to a movie. But not some disney happy happy crap. A god damn thriller if something.

well...street fighter wasnt that bad too anyways. but it did suk a bit.

edit: naruto. it would kinda work i guess. for his kage bunshin they could use the effect they did with the smiths from the matrix or sumthin.

Usually it's me that says that kind of stuff about Grim Fandango. Osterbaum and I are so bonding.

1.What books, video games, TV series that haven't been movie-fied should be?

I'd like to see a good Watchmen movie, but it'd have to be like 12 hours long. Books I've always thought would work are the original five Richard Bachman novels (and as you know, that was the pseudonym of Stephen King). They are pretty dark, and the best of them are easily on par with things like Fahrenheit 451, with more action though. I'm thinking especially of Running Man

Okay, some of them *have* been made into movies, but they're not really true to the books. By which I mean, they share titles and that's it.

2. In what ways would it work ? or not?

Watchmen would work... if it was a high-budget TV series rather than a movie, with one hour or so time for each issue. That would rock. I think Terry Gilliam even had plans along those lines in the Eighties.

As for Running Man... [SPOILER]in the end, the protagonist flies a plane into a skyscraper, thus freeing the general public from the main TV station whose only purpose was to keep them stupid and happy. Show me one studio that will touch this idea even with a ten foot pole.

3. What shouldn't have been movie-fied (of books, video games, or tv series), and why?

Dreamcatcher for the ending
Lord of the Rings for the cheap jokes and the hollywoodification (I'm not even trolling here :D)
Way I hear it, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen; I've neither read the comic nor seen the movie yet, but I heard things. Horrible things. Things that would drive you mad.

There was a movie entitled "Dead or Alive" made in Japan. Never came overseas, though. And from what I saw, it didn't resemble the video game much. But, the Japanese are known for taking video game titles and plastering them to movies completely unrelated to the game. Parasite Eve, for example...

Isn't Running Man already a movie? With Arnold Schwarzenegger?

BMHadoken 07-27-2004 02:07 PM

It is, but it was so very very horribly astray from the source material.

Hitchikers Guide is getting made, I think.

Making Zelda into a movie is something I've always pondered, but it doesn't really make sense. It would have to stick to the storyline (not of a particular game, but of the series), and that would cause Link to go through multiple dungeons, solving many puzzles, and the viewer would get bored quickly, not being able to actually solve the puzzles. The only dialogue would happen between dungeons, and that would just be between Link and a Goron, Zora, Kokiri, or Hyrulian, trying to find the next dungeon. Sure, the boss fight scenes would be cool, but the rest would probably blow, as there would be a definite lack of plot. Zelda would not transfer well between game and movie.

Edit: And if they decided to add a different plot, not many people would be happy, including me.

I thought the same thing about From Hell, but look what happened there. :\ Watchmen is supposedly getting made and coming out next year, though.

I would really love a high-budget cable TV miniseries done for some of Terry Pratchett's Night Watch books, but only if the cast was UK-only, because the last thing it'd need would be some Angelina Jolie Lite knockoff like Jolene Blalock prancing around in a blonde wig as Angua.
