Ammo anyone?

Recently, while playing 007: Agent Under Fire, I realized that they have got a serious problem with underequipping Bond. I mean, I know it's Bond, but... come on! 9 bullets to start a mission?

"Alright 007, this mission is very important to the safety of England, nay, the WORLD! So, here's a pistol with only 9 bullets... we had to cut down after spending all of our money on that spy car you just blew up."

So what other games have a serious problem with not equipping your characters well? (it could be something as far off as in FFX having to pay for your equipment on the airship when they KNOW you are the only ones left to save the world. Wouldn't you think they would GIVE you stuff if it's that iomportant?)

some d&d games are like that, they dont have any stores so you have to find all your weapons in the dungeons.

I've always thought about this.

This is actually a valid game lament. Many games nowadays use initial-equipment boosts as an incentive to buy. I often hear this in interviews-- "no, we're not going to start you off with a dagger and rag clothes and make you end up with crystal armor and blizzard 5, you start right off the bat with cool powers that slowly adapt."

Companies seem to be steering away from the impossible inferiority->godliness method nowadays, to the point where there IS no game where the above example happens, and they're just making you think there is ;)

Anyway, games that underequip you...hmm...well the harvest moon games, even though they're godly. It takes a while to gain a good foot hold.

In resident evil 2 when you beat all the side stories and get to play as tofu. I mean you're a freaking piece of tofu with a knife up against zombies! lol

I would say Ninja Gaiden for the Xbox is pretty bad providing for you when you don't conserve your potions or ammo. Especially on your first time, when you use potions very often because you don't have the good experience you need in that game. This is especially annoying when you go up against a tough boss with only two potions and 1/4 of your health.

Gungrave! I mean, you just have two pistols with unlimited ammo, and a coffin that warehouses all of your power-ups so whenever to get enough successive hits, you can unleash a payload of virtally any monterous proportion on the baddies. Yeah, I can just feel for the under-equipped baddies. Until I shoot their heads off.

Oh, wait, you mean under-equipped heroes? How about every freakin' Megaman game?

Dr. Light: "Sorry, Megaman, but I need to take those cool Robot Master powers from you."
Megaman: "What is Dr. Light strikes again!?"
Dr. Light: "Oh, he won't. You're Megaman, and you put him behind bars."
Megaman: "Yeah, I've been doing that for seven times now..."

Or Einhänder.

Einhänder Weapon Designer(EWD): "Okay, pilot, we've designed this super-cool system that you can equip any guns that were made by us."
Pilot: "Cool, so what're you gonna give me?"
EWD: "Ah, see, the thing is...we don't have any cool weapons for you. They were all stlen by Earth."
Pilot: "Why don't you just make some more?"
EWD: "Uhhhh...funding is short...yeah."
Pilot: "Well if you guys would stp working on those two prototypes and invest your fundings in the three crafts that actually fly, since the war is going to be over before those two get the chance to be tested..."

Nobody mentioned Metal Gear Solid? The game where they make you go and destroy a whole bunch of terorrists with nothing but your binos and a pack of cigs?

And believe me, On-Site Procurement IRL is patent bullcrap. You are far more likely to procure a bullet in the head than a weapon when you try to barehandedly take on an armed guard with an assault rifle, even if the guards are rank conscripts with unloaded weapons, let alone those genome supersoldiers who are always on alert.

I think they underequip you to give off major hints there's an unlimited ammo cheat.
