I've heard of this... pretty weird.

As the guys of some German site commented on the fact that he's apparently kept alive by, quote, "a liquid running from a hole in his palate", unquote:

"That's either divine or the worst cold anyone can have."

I call shenanigans. Uh-uh. If it was true, he would have been thoroughly inspected by the doctors for the hole in the palate, and monitored for a longer time. Maybe set up a live feed coming from the guys cave.

Yah, I kinda feel the same way Sakae... except it's from the BBC, which is usually a very respectable news source. So I don't really know what to believe.

The way I see it is that if this was true, it wouldn't be just the BBC reporting it. I would think this would be extraordinary news for most fields of human science/medicine. So, I refuse to believe until I see this man reported in other respectable publications.

He might have some abnormality that allows him to last an extreme time wtihout water, but I can't imagine decades. I figure that the good ol' scientists will find something not-so-earth shatterting about him. I believe he lasted the study wtihout water, but not decades, hes probably mutated in some beneficial way, but to the extent he just needs less water, not none.

Yeah, I heard about this kind of thing before. There is a group of monks living somewhere in the Himilayas (sp?) that claim to have been living off nothing but meditation for the past forty years.
Of course there was also the incident about ten years ago when a group of people claimed that could photosynthesize and were found dead on a field.
I don't know if either one is true, i just heard them from a teacher once. But I don't think I'll quit eating anytime soon anyhow.

Hmm...I smell something, what could it be? *sniff-sniff* Oh yeah, it's BULL-CRAP! Sure there's nothing to prove this guy wrong, but also there's nothing to prove him right. Anybody can make up a story and find some way to make themselves look like it's true. Although in my opinion, this is another story that isn't important, and is of no use to anyone whatsoever. So I really don't know why they're worrying about it.
