Cyber Wars Ch.3- bring on the n00bs
Ok, I'm back from vacation and ready to start this puppy up. Here's an updated character list as well as background info.
A team of special forces all specializing in one or another field were gathered together to destroy Mastermind, an AI gone bad who had evolved into an uber-virus bent on controlling both the real and cyber world. Because of dense overpopulation, scientist had found a way to create a cyber version of the real world where people could live by "plugging themselves" into elthernet ports via usbs in their necks. Once plugged in, their bodies are transported to the cyber world, which is an exact replica of the real world. The team, comprised of various people of different talents and views (plus one rogue virus) have had two missions, one a success, and one...eh...less of a success. Anywho, we last left off with our team being transported to the Hospital for Jade (that's me) to receive medical attention for her various gunshot wounds and for Monk to be treated for his "turning". Apparently Monk and Wolf are buddies from before and Monk had been enslaved by Mastermind, however Wolf saved him. During the mission, Monk reverted and shot Jade. Wolf is trying to make some sense about what's going on with help from the copy of Coyote that Jade had in her PDA. The real Coyote is watching everything from afar with his clones in a mansion, and Andy is trying to make sure everyone gets treatment. Jade (batgirl)- Hacker Monk (MC43)- Hand to hand combat expert Wolf (Wolf)- Weapons expert Andy (Andy)- Green Beret Coyote (JADGuy)- rogue virus Helen (Cruelty)- Scientist Rhanna (Neverwhere)- Sniper (this is by no means the same thing as Wolf) Roy (Batman)- Detective Daren (Dante)- Medic Kog (FFF)- Ninja Those are all I have right now. Rules: 1- NO GOD MODDING. I cannot stress this enough. If you do, you're gone. 2- Stick to your character. If you're a medic, then be a medic, not a fighter. Everyone can fight, but not everyone is a super shot, just take a look at my bullet riddled charcter to get an idea. 3- If there is a dissagreement or problem, contact me. I'm very contactable: pm aim: psycho828 email: batgirl_39@hotmail.com Don't start spamming in the forum; it takes up space and is bloody annoying. 4- If you aren't sure about something, then feel free to ask. Don't be afraid, most of us don't bite that hards. With that out of the way, my character is still in the Hospital, but she'll be waking up soon, so post away. |
A clone was drinking milk from the carton when Coyote entered the kitchen.
"Hey Coyote Demille." The original said to the beret wearing clone. "What's the movie of the week?" "I am an artist. I need to conceptualize my art." "In other words you've got writers block." The clone hung his head. "Well we're having guests soon can you get your crew to whip something up for them?" "Not another Action movie." "Do you want me to hand it over to Sarge?" Coyote said grabbing pouring a skotch on the rocks. "Good point." "That's my boy." |
Andy looked down at Jade as the nanomachines were injected into her blood. Monk was in another room, awaiting the same treatment. Andy looked at the various plugholes and sockets in Jade's body, then ran his hands over his own skin, without the holes and sockets, and sighed. "I dont get what this cyber-bullshit is all about. Cyber junkies ought to be shot."
"This was a complete fuckup, all due to the renegade Monk. Why wasnt i informed as to his mental state? You realise" Andy looked at Jade with the eyes of a killer, cold and ruthless, "That that's an instant section 8. He cannot serve any more. I'll have to report it, and he may well be courtmarshalled and serve time in military prison. Not a nice place. If you want me, i'll be in my office." Andy turned around, and walked out. He walked past his team, debriefing in the supply room. He went in, and began to take his gear off. "Who'd have thought?" Said Warren, one of Andy's specialist team, "That we'd find Wolf here? it sure is nice to see the old bastard, even though he's a bit of a junkie.", Acknowledged by a "Here Here". Much of the same type of conversation kept up until they finally exited the room, and began to walk down the hall, reminiscing of old times and experiences, laughing and carrying on. They all decided to go back to Andy's office, for a steak and a bit of a relax. |
The hours he had spent awake were taking a toll on his body. He couldn't help the insomnia. It's hard to sleep with a dull pain in the back of your head. You might reach back hoping to pull out a piece of glass, but the glass is inside. Inside your head where you can't get to it.
The glare from the computer terminal hurt his eyes, half open. His body wanted to sleep, but his mind was restless. His room was completely dark. No light anywhere save that from the terminal. Gabriel checked and double checked that the connection was safe. It was. Top military encoding. They built it so that it couldn't be cracked. Anything man made can be destroyed by another man. He was aware of this fact more and more these days. We appreciate the donation you have made to the senator's campaign. He wishes to send you his warmest regards and heartfelt thanks. Your campaign button is in the usual spot. The senator had needed someone taken care of. Gabriel never asked questions. Not when you needed the money to stay alive, to fund your life's goal. If you asked questions, you lost contracts. He never asked questions. And that's why the senator had come to him. His payment would be waiting for him in a safety deposit box. Gabriel Bishop. The Ghost and the Darkness. No past on record, mental or otherwise. A spook. Agent. Mercenary. Assassin. Whatever got him closer to the truth. On a secure network sometimes you can find all the information you could ever want. He hadn't found it yet. He searches for Codeword: Mastermind still came up empty. But he had a few contacts that had given him new leads. Apparently there was a Special Forces unit that was connected in one way or another with the AI. If he could find this unit, maybe he could get some answers. Maybe ... |
Rhanna Iesha took a deep breath. Assassination; he didnt like the sound of that. More, removing a corrupted official from duty. Anyways, it wasnt his fault he was ordered to shoot the man, it was a direct order from his CO. A deep bellow of thunder shook him from his thoughts. 'Thinking, not something Im good at. Still, this poor bastard has to die. Now, 1000m with 5mph N-NE wind..' He beings to adjust the sights on his rifle with a skilled touch. He looks over at Jason, and smiles.
"Good night for a murder, wouldnt you say?" "Murder? Its not murder if its in a time of war man." "True, but we are not at war." He smiles quickly, "neither is this necessary. You know as well as I do that this could have been resolved peacefully, not that Im complaining or anything." "Shut up Rhanna, just shoot the damn man." "Ok" The sight preforms its dance with the target, following his every move. One shot, one kill. One man, one target. He leads the target just a air, must compensate for the fact he is nearly 1000m away, and slowly beings to squeeze the trigger. He takes a deep breath, lets it out halfway, and squeezes the trigger quickly. The gun jerks back and up, but its quickly brought down again. Quickly using the scope as temporary binoculars he scans the room again. A fine mist of red and a gigantic splotch on the far wall are all that remain. Satisfied, Rhanna and Jason pack up their gear. "Rhanna, doesnt it seem a bit awkward to shoot someone from the roof of a hospital?" "What? No way man, a job is a job. Now lets just get the fuck out of here before we are caught." They go back to the rooftop doorway and start down the stairs, careful to not draw attention to their hasty retreat down the cold metal stairs. |
Great.
Daren had been supposed to link up with a man called Andy, the man who was most heavily involved in shutting down the Mastermind, but finding Andy had proved a lot more difficult than he had thought. Daren couldn't help but wonder if this was another wild goose chase, like the ones the previous four or five red herrings ahd led him on. This was getting nowhere, and so was he. With an exasperated sigh, Daren stopped and tried to remember what the informant had told him. "Find Andy, and he'll square you away." Yeah, but first I have to find him, right? Thankfully, the guards to the complex had been told of his arrival, but they couldn't leave their posts to show him the way, leaving Daren to find the enigmatic Andy himself. But after fifteen minutes of walking and asking, he hadn't come any closer. Either Andy was gone, or had recently come back and nobody knew exactly where he was. Finally, on a whim, he turned down a corridor and and approached a man leading his team behind him. "Have you seen a guy called Andy? I've been running around like a headless chicken trying to fi-" "You're talking to him." was the cool reply. Great. |
Glam grumbled and scratched at the back of his neck. The cyber world implant had only gone in about two weeks ago, and the two weeks of heavy cyber world training left an annoying sting in his neck. He grumbled, angry at his CO for forcing him to take these implants, but an order was an order, and since mastermind was one of the greatest threats humanity had ever seen, he was willing to sacrifice a bit of himself for the greater good.
He walked into the hospital's main entrance and looked around for a receptionist, quickly finding one. He walked up and asked, "Is there a, err," He looked back down at his card with the important names on it. He had become somewhat forgetful since the cyber implant went in, and if they had messed him up by implanting it someone would pay. He finally found the names of the people he was looking for, and asked, "Is there a Mr. Andy at the hospital?" The receptionist made some pages, but no one responded, so he went to the next name, "Is there a Miss Jade here?" After some explaining and some proof of credentials, the receptionist revealed that Jade was still unconscious and recovering, but her prognosis looked good. Glam got the location of her room and wrote it down, thanked the receptionist, then started walking through the hospital, trying to find the right place. |
Monk opened his eyes once more. He was no longer in the ship, he was now in a hospital bed. He sat up, "Ship? When was I in a ship? I just remember the bunker, and then... nothing... He cracked the bones in his neck once again and tried to sit up, but found himself weak, especially his arm. He looked down on it and saw it wrapped up in a bandage. "Sh... shot? What the heck happened to me?" He rubbed the back of his neck, feeling the slot for the cyber world connection, the key to the other side. "What happned to me?" He reached into his pocket and typed a message to his friend.
"Wolf," He said everything he was typing, "I am lying in soe sort of strange hospital bed. Do you have any idea why I'm here? I feel like a truck or something hit me..." He could feel his body getting weak again. Well... I guess it's time for... a... nap... His body fell limp back onto the bed, but he had managed to hit the enter key, sending the message to Wolf. |
Jade awoke with a gasp. She bolted upright and her eyes darted around before realizeing where she was. She lay down slowly, paritally from relief, partially from the swelling pain in her head. She felt the nanos working on her still injured leg, but her ribs had been healed and were now tightly bandaged. She found her chart at the end of her bed and found that she was going to make a complete recovery. Fiddling around in her pockets for a second she realized something: "Where's my PDA?" Starting to panic, she was going to get up when a knock at the door stopped her.

Wolf's PDAP beeped. He picked it up. It was a text message from Monk...at least, he hoped so. There's no telling if his memory is intact or not.... Wolf looked at the message. It seemed to show Monk was back to normal...for now, only he didn't know what happened in the bunker. Wolf typed a reply...
"Monk, I don't know how to explain this, but you regressed back to when you were under Mastermind's control while we were in the bunker. I managed to stop 'you', by which I mean the evil force controlling you, but some bad shit happened during that time. Jade was wounded, by 'you'. However, I don't hold you responsible, and you shouldn't either. You had no control over what happened. Get some rest. I, in the meantime, have a Coyote to hunt." He hit 'send'. Well, I hope he gets the message, and doesn't lose control. Suddenly Jade's PDA beeped, the search program had returned. "I found the clone." the program said, holding a chibi version of Coyote by the neck "I would've brought him in sooner, but he didn't want to go quietly." "Good work." Wolf said. "Don't let him go for any reason." Wolf sprinted towards Jade's hospital room I hope she's awake, becaue I don't have a fucking clue how to interrogate a virus.. He knocked on the door "Jade? Are you awake? It's Wolf. I have your PDA, and on it is something I think you'll find interesting." After a slight pause, Jade welcomed him in. "Sorry if I woke you, but I may have yet found a way to locate our virus friend. I have one of his clones contained on your PDA, but I have no clue how to interrogate it." Wolf handed her the PDA. "See what you can do, if you're up to it." |
