Telemarketers
We all hate telemarketers, right? Well, I was just remembering this one time my dad recieved a call from a telemarketer a few years ago, and my dad told him he wasn't interested several times.
Now that sounds like every other telemarketer call, but this one wouldn't shut up when my dad said he wasn't interested... so my dad hung up. The telemarketer calls back and we don't answer so he leaves a message on our answering machine. It's been a few years so I don't remember exactly, but it was something around the lines of, "You coward! I could have saved you a ton of money! Just pick up the phone!!" That is the ONLY time I have ever experienced, or heard of a telemarketer doing that. Does anyone else have any interesting telemarketing experiences? Or are our telemarketers just crazy? |
I had only one when I was 7 and that one went as far as cussing to sell his product.

both of them sound pretty unprofessional....
I remember that my mom kept getting calls from this window company....they always pronounced our last name wrong, and they called every few days. Eventually she told them that my dad was a "Native American enthusiast", and that we lived in a tepee....so no, we didn't have any windows, thanks!:D lying to telemarketers can be amusing.... |
We can always tell when it's a telemarketer that calls. They usually ask for someone but pronounce my last name wrong. We just say they aren't here and they never call back. We've had a few though that did get mouthy.

Whenever I think about Telemarketers, I think of whatever show I saw (I think it was Seinfeld) Where a Telemarketer called and (Thinking Jerry) answered and the caller tried to sell him his item, and then he replyed "Sorry, I'm not interested, but I have an item that I could sell to you" "Um.. no thanks, I don't like to buy stuff over the phone." "Well now you know how I feel!" And hangs up. I thought that was pretty funny, but I haven't tried that... yet.

a few tricks to tell if a Telemarketer is calling you:
They never use their last names, always refer to themselves by their first name only! (the only other people who do this are little kids) They always try to be WAY too friendly for a stranger... If you ask them for their last name ("<insert their first name> what?" works well), they say they're from whichever company makes the product they're trying to sell you. This is the big giveaway, when they admit to being from an organization. At this point, you can tell them you aren't interested and hang up the phone. Just hang up the phone, don't try to be friendly or polite, or they'll take advantage of you. You know what the only form of life lower than a telemarketer is? A Televangelist. |
I had a telemarketer attack today. The sad part was she was form a credit card company, and since English was not her first language she stumbled through her introduction.
Suffice to say, I thought she was calling about my credit card that I already have. I thought there was a problem. So I gave her a bunch of information I shouldn't have before I realized she wasn't from my bank. Suffice to say she wouldn't take no for an answer. And that's when my roomate told me that Telemarketers don't have the ability to manually hang up on people. You have to hang up on them. |
One of my friends is a former telemarketer. So, when he gets calld by telemarketers, he does reverse-psychology on them. Starts asking them about their benefits and drawbacks, stuff like that. And when he gets called by his former company, he just complete disassembles their attempts to sell stuff.

or not pick up in first place. Nice lil thing my dads set up on my phone... if it's "unknown number" or unknown name.. it politly says. We're sorry we are not accepted blocked name's and numbers at this time, fuck off.

Telemarketers can be fun.....When they say your surname incorectly, Just say "Nope, none of them here. Only <Say your surname>'s here." then hang up.
Other than that, go for the classic "Piss off!" Copying them can also lead to some funny results. Other than Telemarketers, junkmail is annoying. I got offered a plantinum card, which is better than my parents XD |
