First game ever
What was the very first video game you played? I remember mine being Super Mario Bros. 3.
|
I beleive that was mine as well. That or Zelda. Its really hard to remember since I was so little when I started.
|
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 for the NES
Best. Game. Ever. |
My first video game was Dig Dug... It's still my favorite game that involves explosions and digging...
|
Asteroids or Donkey Kong not sure which.
|
Super Mario Bros. Followed closely by Final Fantasy, The Legend of Zelda, and Battle of Olympus.
All of them excellent games which ought to be played by everybody! |
Mine was good ol' Super Mario Brothers.
|
This thread has been done. And I know that's a cliche thing to say, and I usually avoid saying it, but this time I feel compelled to because it's not only been done... it's been done at least once or twice in the past month or so.
That said: my first game, I think, was Super Mario Bros for the NES. Or Link's Adventure. or one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle games. Anyways, one of them! |
Slight variation of another thread already on the board but no matter.
My first game was some Atari game I can't remember really well. But the first game I can remember playing was a REALLY old NES game where you're in space and you're kinda flying around on grids. I didn't know what I was doing but I was having fun at the age oif 2 or something. |
The first game I played? Commander Keen! He rocked!
|
Donkey Kong on the Commadore 64!
|
I think it was Super Mario Brothers 1, for the NES, but I do have distant memories of a game... It had a big sea urchin-ish thing. It mighta been Zelda.
|
something like pong or space invaders on my brothers Commodore 64
first game that was mine was Mario Bros. 1/Duck hunt on that faithful Xmas morning soo long ago =P |
Some bottom-shooter on the Atari 2600 back when the 2600 was shiny and new. How mesmerized we used to be by a few blocky shapes!
|
DUCK HUNT!!!!!! :D That was the coolest game ever! Nothing can beat it!
|
Ocean City defender, then Keystone Kapers, then California Games. All for the Atari!
WOOT! |
Pitfall for Atari. WOOT!
|
My first game was Bad Dudes for the NES, or Contra, also NES, both were made doable by the wonder that is the Konami code.

I dunno, I could swear it's been done recently, but it's probably like Kenryoku said, where there's been a couple recently that are extremely similar (First Game you Beat, like you mentioned, What Got You Into Gaming, etc.). *shrugs* Doesn't really bother me too much or I wouldn't've answered the question. :P
|
I don't know specifically what the first game was, but I know it was for Atari 2600, years before the NES came out. I remember we had at least Pacman, Missile Command, Asteroids, Warlords and Pitfall. Likely one of those.
|
duck hunt. w00t!
oh yeah, i'm new, whats up? |
ALSO DUCK HUNT!
oh yeah, i'm not new, also what is up |
Donkey kong for the atari, but i didnt know what I was doing, when i gained more coincioussness y remember Contra being one of my first

Wasn't this identical thread created a couple weeks ago?
At any rate, my first game was Super Mario Bros. 3 as well. |

mine was either Pokemon red or FF6, any memory below the age of 10 is too hazy for me to know for sure.
|
Super Mario World, it came with the SNES me and my brother got for Christmas. Co-op was intense, for back in the day anyway.
|
The very first Carmen Sandiego game, which I played on an ancient IBM PS/2 clone (64kb of RAM might be giving it a bit too much credit). It was that, or some other equally craptastic educational game.
The first console games I played were Rad Racer and SMB. |
hmm, well, it was probably some 2600 game, most likely E.T. *shudder*, but the first I remember was either mario or duck hunt, cant remember which was first, since they had that double game cartridge.
|
LEGENDARY WINGS! for the Nes.
if you've never heard of it, download the rom. it's so worth your time. |
SMB1/Duck Hunt (dual cartridge) got me hooked on video games when I was 3. That was quickly followed by Maniac Mansion, SMB2...and Wolfenstien 3D. Then I started playing so many games it all blurred.
|
I'm not exactly sure if I got the order straight, so it was one of two things (either of which I was about 3 years old):
1.I got the SMB/Duck Hunt NES for Christmas. I couldn't play SMB at first, because I had to look at the controller (hey, I said I was three), so I played Duck Hunt 2. If this was first, it was only slightly before the Duck Hunt thing. I remember playing Combat(that's the one with the tanks right?) on Atari. |
I believe mine was lander for commodore 64? I am not sure I was pretty young. We had a counting game with bert and ernie and some sort of spaceship for the 2600 with its own special controller also. I know for sure my first NES game (that i owned and played) was Ducktales
|
Wolfenstine for the PC. Yes, ive been shooting nazis sence i was five, but i dont own any M games. Ironic, no?
|
I don't think that's irony.
|
When you say video game does that include arcade games or are we strictly talking console systems?
The first thing I ever touched was the old sit down version of Space Invaders in an Arbys the day I saw Empire Strikes Back at the movies. I think I was 6... After that, I'm pretty sure the first console game I played was Football on the Atari 2600. |
Brand: I'd say it generally includes any arcade, console, or computer games. Most conversations on these forums do unless noted otherwise.
|
Old Atari BS...
