I was just bored so I made a thread about one of my favorite strategy games. Sooo... does anyone else here play it regerularly

Not anymore. I was tired of a 1 and however-many-hundred-losses record. I wasn't very good, and my teammates always bailed on me.

Before my comp crashed I couldnt get off it I swear if you were in the custom maps section I was there

Play single player every now and then. My net connection at home has a horrible upload rate so I can't play online.

For those of you who can't play Warcraft 3 online at home because you're on dialup, I would say avoid the melee games. Stick to the custom games, you'll find them equally challenging and satisfying.

I play Warcraft 3 online frequently, though not melees. I find the custom maps far more satisfying, mostly TDs and DOTA. I used to pay mauls, but I got sick of everyone just changing Wintermaul's towers and calling it a new maul. Or just changing the terrain. No one bothers to come up with their own creeps, but they call it a whole new maul. I did recently mod the Zwuckel TD and release it as Zwuckel 1.3: Eagle TD (after my B.net name EagleFalconn) because there was some stuff in there that pissed me off but other than that I loved it. Its based off the Pizza version, which I found wonderfully difficult but a little rough around the edges.

I have a good buddy who used to play WC3 just fine on dial-up.

Anyways, I haven't played in a long while but I'm thinking of replaying the single player some time.

I use to play it untill b.net began banning me from melee for no reason.. and then my cd got a virus on it... and i got an error like eveyr time i clicked on merc camp or something.... and it just got annoying as hell.. and the new's just screwed everything up....

Ya the mual maps were annoying... AS HELL... btw did zoater td every keep going? or was 2.0 far as it made it? I used to love TD's and DOTA and Dota rip off's lol. Even thhough Dota is a rip of AOE. or what ever those older ones were.

Uh, Nosferatu, its actually impossible for a CD to "get a virus" as in for its code to become infected by a virus. Thats because most CDs, especially CDs that games come on, are not re-writable media. You can only read off them. From the problems you're having, I would sugest trying a reinstall and perhaps getting some anti-virus and spyware software. If you don't have antivirus software, you can get a free online scan compliments of Trendmicro at http://housecall.trendmicro.com/hous...start_corp.asp however please keep in mind that an online scan is in no way a replacement for good antivirus software on your computer. To get rid of spyware, I sugest Spybot Search & Destroy. This excellent software can be found at http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html

Yeah, I much prefer the custom games like the Magic The Gathering TD, or the really cool Nintendo TD. I saw a really great Air TD that shot nothing but air units that had to go in circles and reach the opposing side of the map right over enemy towers. It was really well made.

I actually don't play DoTA. I haven't tried it yet because I like TDs so much more. One game I miss is Castle Defense, with all of the LotR heroes....ahh, sweet sweet Legolas, with his bowcrits.

True fuggin story -
I play a round of Nintendo TD, and there's this really lame movie right before it. I wait a second then hit escape out of frustration. it skips the movie and starts the game for me, so I start building towers. I lose the game, and then I move out and enter another Nintendo TD game. Guess who's hosting.

I nearly shat myself. I asked him what he was up to and he said "If we win this game you're all in my clan." I double-shat myself. It started up the next game and I hit escape to skip the stupid movie.

IT. BOOTED. ME. OUT.

I could have cried if I played WCIII any more than I do now.

Anyway. I like WCIII, but I prefer custom games. It cuts out the monotony of "Make Altar, barracks, farm, mass swarm footmen and hero." which is the only way to win

I play custom games as well. I switch off from playing custom games and actual games, but custom games tend to be more fun, because I'm better at them and I can win them.

DotA sucked after Frozen Throne came out, so I stopped playing that. ToB is a good replacement, and is much, much better then the current DotA. Before FT DotA was the best though.

As for TDs, I'm not a big fan of team ones. I like winning, but TD is full of idiots who have no idea what they are doing. I prefer the solo TDs, like Cube Defense and Island TD. My favorite is Line Tower Wars, where you get an income and send the units to try and break through your enemies defense while making sure none go through yours. But it's gotten boring now because I've figured out how to win almost every time.

Parasite was fun for a while, but got boring quickly. If I see them, I play Weakest Link or Micro Arena (The one where you make your own units).


Mirai, you could always stalk him with /whois or put him on your friends list to get into his games and try to get in the clan again.
