Best way to get high?
Pretty self-explanitory. What's your preferred method of obtaining that extra height on your jumps in platform games?

Game Genie (Super Mario series) :D

I like wall-jumping with Samus in the early metroid games.

Seriously, I beat Super Metroid in around forty minutes thanks to the wall-jump. To hell with freezing the rippers in Brinstar, I'll just jump to the exit! Ah, memories. My only regret is that I couldn't be playing the game right now. Stupid forum. Coming in second place would definitely be Ladd's bionic arm (if you can't guess the game, I shall be your murderer). I guess a distant third would be JC's speed aug. Nothing says flying like jumping from the ground to a fence, to a fire escape and ending on the roof of the building. Then jumping off and dying. |
Anything involving a rope tied to a horizontal bar works best for the extra boost in sheer height.

I voted for Double Jump because after using it so much in SotN, I didn't want to go back to even Mario or Metroid type juping (although I relented and still play those games of course).
But mainly the reason I voted for SotN is not the simple double jump. Oh no. What about the OTHER jump, the one where Alucard could fly straight up into the air (I think you just needed the 'Jump Boots' and the Double Jump ability). Its also featured in Circle of the Moon, Harmony and Aria of Sorrow by pushing the L button. THAT is my favorite jump for those types of things. You could also do it in Super Metroid..but you had to charge Samus with the super run first. It speeds up the game and makes exploring actually fun because you can be quick, efficient and go multiple floors in a castle simply by pushing L on your GBA. That gets the vote for me. But on the double jump defence as well, I love it simply because I could do a double jump and dodge enemy projectiles/attacks and then hit them on my way down. I became quite efficient at that in SotN and it became my primary means of attack. Its also how I use Marth in Smash Bros. -_- |
Teleports, followed by ninja ropes (Yes, I still love Worms)
|
Downside to Super Metroid's charging dash: You take damage the more you move.

Wall-Jump all the way. If you can wall jump repeatedly, might as well call yourself L337.

Is that so?
