I saw that Micheal Moore Thread and was unhappy that it was locked out before I could chime in.

So Allow me to say this one thing...

Some one I forget who said Rush Limbaugh speaks the truth and is honest or something to that effect....

I'd like to read some of Rush's new thoughts on the treament of drug users in America.

What are these people? Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, and all those super-conservatives and Micheal Moore, Al Franken and all those super-liberals? They are all extremists. You know what extremists are. You all know these other extremists: Joe McCarthy, Jerry Falwell, Osama bin Laden. You know these extremist groups: KKK, the Nazis, Al-Qaeda.

Rush is just another extremist trying to convert the world to his point of view. He should just be ignored.

Back on subject... Rush and Moore are extremists. The KKK and the Nazis are also extremists. Extremists are just giant bags of hot air. They think the way to get people to believe them is to say that if you don't you are liberal (Rush), or conservative (Moore), or an evil lover of blacks and jews (KKK) or an evil lover of anything not aryan in origin (Nazis).

I'm not saying that Rush and Moore are Nazis, I'm saying their tactics are similar. They want you to question your beliefs, which opens you up to new ways of thinking. They twist the truth to suit their point-of-view. They don't care what they have to do, as long as you believe them.

BTW, I only mentioned extremists as an example of people that don't get a lot of attention. Hence why Rush should just be shrugged off like the rest of them.

And calling someone an extremist when that's what they are is NOT a flame. It's the truth.

Well, it's important to point out that, even if you're going to lump far-left liberals and far-right conservatives under the title of extremist, they're a very different brand of extremist than Nazis or KKK members. Rush and Moore, as long as we're sticking with those two examples, probably aren't going to commit mass murder of people who don't agree with their viewpoint. Yes, they are very hardcore about their political views and push them as powerfully as they can, but they don't kill people over it.

Zeth: As for your post, I both agree and disagree. I think it's a good idea to make these threads for open criticism (and rebuttal) of people others on the forums might consider 'gurus' or whatever. It allows us to hear other viewpoints. But if you just open a thread on a person and laugh and call names with nothing to back it up, that can be very pointless.

uh huh.... have you ever listened to Rush? You seem to think that when he calls something "liberal" its like a KKK member calling someone a "nigger". However, i've never heard a KKK member explain why he things that being a "nigger" is a bad thing. I HAVE heard Rush explain why he dislikes liberal policies. If you take the time to listen (which i doubt you have) he'll explain to you clearly and concisely why he does not like Liberal policies.

i suppose you could call Rush an "extremist" if you really wanted to, and you sure as hell can disagree with him. But to call even Moore an extremist to the extent that his tactics are the same as Al-Qaeda and the KKK is a load of horse manure. To be extreme in a point of view is NOT to be unreasoned in that point of view.

furthermore, you say that all people that you label "extremists" should just be ignored. however, millions of people every day listen to rush, and millions of people have view Moore's films. There are millions of people who agree with either of them. To say "meh, they're just extremists" is silly.

Both Moore and Rush have made arguments. Refute the arguments. attacking the person is one of the chief logical fallacies.

However, that was the entire point of this thread: attack a person, not an ideal. No one said "you know Rush said X yand Z. i think he's wrong for these reasons:" IT was "hey, lets all laugh at Rush". Kind of like the "hey, lets all bash Moore" thread. BOTH thread starters got negative reputation from me because Ad Hominem attacks are NOT valid arguments.

**EDIT** Kefka: yeah, that’s why i didn't give the Ann Coulter thread negative ratings. Ann Coulter uses ad-hominem attacks and the thread started as a valid critic of her methods. Btu that critique carries over to this discussion. Ann randomly insulting people, and forum members insulting people is the same pile of illogical stink.

Its true that most of the people who dislike Rush, Moore & some other extremists haven't really sat down and listened to them. Their language is aimed at their target audiences speicifcally, those on the outside aren't likely to enjoy their rhetoric, or even entertain listening to it.

But... Don't tell me that Rush, is nothing but truth and honesty. I listened to a bit of him on his return from his "hiatus", and after getting through the preliminaries where he talked about what happened to him in rehab & how he feels, he began to rant about Kennedy. Basically, what I "learned" is that Kennedy is a Democrat because he hates himself, and that liberals are bad, but Rush failed to get into any reasons.

That isn't truth, its just baseless ranting.

I don't have a full set of facts about Rush. My understanding is that he ranted a lot about people addicted to drugs and called them weak. Then apparently it was found that he's addicted to more than one prescription.

I also heard that he said he wasn't going to defend it. So I wouldn't consider him hypocritical or anything; he must think himself weak too.

(Yeh, sorry I'm repeating anything, am inaccurate, or going off topic.)
