What were great SNES games?
topic.
I would say the Donkey Kong Country series and Final Fantasy series that were on there. |
I'll just mention Super Metroid, MegaMan X, and Kirby Superstar right now and start thinking of more.
|
Breath of Fire (the first one, not the second one)
Donkey Kong Country Madden Football - probably the funnest football game ever created Mortal Kombat various Super Mario titles... Zelda: Link to the Past |
Let's see....
Chrono Trigger Super Mario RPG Paladin's Quest Tetris Attack Killer Instinct Earthworm Jim Super Mario Kart Earthbound I might put up others later. |
Star Fox. That game was so hard, to this day I have only beaten it once. On the easy track. (Of course, I might have done better by now but my mother forced me to give away my Super Nintendo with all my games to my 9 year old neighbor, who can't possibly have any appreciation for the art he's partaking.)

Mega Man X.
Some simple, pure fun. |
Zelda, Mega Man X, Killer Instinct, The Super Mario Bros. games, Donkey Kong Country, Sim City, Sim City 2000 and Mario Paint.

Well, Megaman X...of course...
Battletoads Double Dragon, Contra, Chrono trigger, Final Fantasy, F Zero, HArvest Moon, Lufia I and II (mostly 2), Metroid, Megaman 7, Ninja Gaiden Trilogy, R Type, Primal Rage, Secret of Mana/Evermore, Samurai Showdown, Super Mario RPG, Breath of Fire, Earthbound, Ogre Battle, Street Fighter.... oh and Zelda. Star fox also, since that was one of the first 3d games ever. FUCK that game was hard. EDIT: with an emulator... Sieken Dentsetsu 3, Dragon ball Z Hyper Dimension, Gundam Wing Endless Duel, Fire Emblem. |
I think it's safe to say that the following games will wind up on everyone's list:
Chrono Trigger Secret of Mana Final Fantasy series Legend of Zelda 3 Super Metroid Super Mario World ...and so on. But what about those fairly obscure games that weren't owned by everyone and his brother? Those sleeper games that, today, you might see in the $5.00 bin at Game Crazy and say out loud "Holy Shit! I loved that game!" I was the only kid I knew who owned a copy of Super Smash TV. My friends and I spent so much time playing that game, and we only beat it once. That game was incredibly fun. I recently saw it on eBay listed as "Super Smash TV for SNES! ULTRA-RARE!!111" with a starting bid of $60.00........ |
Desert Strike, that game was rad. hmm, i think everyone else already said all the cool games. the SNES is definately my favorite game platform. lots of good pre-teenaged memories there.
