OOC: yes, assumption is dangerous :)
hmmm... now i regret hinting it, cuz I really don't know how to go about disabling it >.<

BIC:
Myrra raised a slim eyebrow. Beautiful face? Is that supposed to be flattering? She turned her full attention to the defeated Cotan standing in front of her.
"I-impossible!" the barbarian stuttered, "You must've had help!" he accused. Myrra sighed and rolled her eyes.
"I competed fair and square, dear," she said in a mock admonishing voice, "you should be glad I didn't kill you when I could have. Now hand over the shinies you've promised us, and I *may* let you and your tribe... or whatever you call yourselves... live."
Cotan, still perhaps in slight shock, nodded his head. Two burly men lumbered forward reluctantly, cringing under the penetrating gaze of the dark mage's gaze, carrying between them a heavy chest. The darkness still hasn't left her eyes. No. It hasn't finished. Yet.

OOC: I've got writer's block (yet again) so uhm... lemme think on the amulet thingy.

Arhra 08-30-2004 07:17 AM

OOC: For Cotan's enchantment I was just going to make up a 'fountain of might' or something similar. Just a little side-quest thing for later on. You could say there's a way to attune to the amulet perhaps?

Mercury begins to paw through the treasure as they speak, keeping his ears open for what Cotan has to say. He pulls out a sapphire stone set in a fine filgree cage of silver wires and looks at it. Smiling slightly he opens his bag of holding and puts it in, watching out for any sleight of hand from Will. Mercury continues sorting through the treasure, keeping an eye out for anytihng that looks interesting.

OOC: magic can do many things....maybe there are spells to detect thoughts?;)

IC: Aeryn picked a wand out of the pile of treasure, placing it in his own bag of holding, then scooping in several valuable gems, a rod capped by an immense emerald that shone with enchantment, and a few rings and other, more mundane, magic items.

After scooping into his bag a few jewels he began sifting threw the treasure at first their seemed to be nothing of intreast to him, but near the bottom of the pile he found a Sickle inceribed with strange runes he quickly put it on his holster and covered it with his cloak before the others noticed (he hoped).

Myrra closed her fierce golden eyes and concentrated. There was a certain hum in the treasure exposed to the group. Reaching in, she shifted precious gems and amulets roughly to one side before her finger settled on a thick rod. She yanked it out, twirling it in one hand, and opened her eyes with satisfaction. She held the rune-covered quarterstaff and ran a finger down the finely engraved black wood.
"I've been looking for you," she whispered, a glint in her eyes. Then she was conscious of furious whisperings from Cotan, who was angrily talking with one of the barbarian who handed them the treasures.
"You weren't supposed to give them that!" He was saying in an obviously loud fashion.
"What? Faithless?" Myrra raised a fiery eyebrow, indicating the quarterstaff she held in her hand.

OOC: let's just say that the quarterstaff is something important to them?

Arhra 08-31-2004 05:51 AM

Mercury looks up from the treasure pile and gives Cotan a flat stare whle flicking his tail in impatience, "Quit stalling, the treasure is ours and you still have to answer my question." His turns his gaze on Myrra and gives her a look that clearly says he wants to know about the secret of ths quarterstaff after they're out of earshot of the barbarians. He turns his attnetion back to the treasure pile and places some more gems and figurines into his bag of holding, all the while keeping his ears open.

OOC: We should get back on track. We've got a phoenix to pluck!

Dragonsbane 08-31-2004 01:47 PM

"He's right....and dragons, much like wizards, are dangerous when kept waiting..." Aeryn's emerald-green eyes flared menacingly green, "Now, tell us..or you won't like what happens next. We beat your challenges, and now it's time for you to fulfill your part of the deal."

Rhiya Ravenwing 08-31-2004 06:30 PM

"Duly agreed," she turned her dangerously black eyes and trained them on Cotan's every move. She studied the amulet on his neck, and a smile curled her lips.

OOC: well, I'M not gonna be the that's gonna have Cotan answer >.< I gots writer's block again after posting in the castle doom rp.... >.<

Arhra 09-01-2004 07:34 AM

OOC: Well I'm out of ideas for the amulet. An old enemy perhaps? I'll leave it to someone else. I'll just go and do the fountain of might thingy. Ah, mysterious magical fountains, where would fantasy settings be without you?

Cotan sighs and looks resigned, "I was the mightiest warrior of my tribe and yet I still felt unchallenged. I adventured for greater power and I found it. Deeper in the mountains there lies an ancient magical fountain that grants great vtality upon those who drink from it."

Mercury's eyes glitter, "And where is this fountain?"

Cotan looks a bit uncomfortable, "I cannot truly say for it seems to change its posistion. I was told of it by an old hemrit who told me how to find it. Seek the twin fangs that pierce the sky. From the valley of the north wind may they be found. Find their sight reflected in the shadowed mirror and fill the pattern with the sky's tears. Then, with the light of noon the path will open. That is all I can tell you of it."

Mercury looks thoughtful while he waits for Cotan to tell of how he came by the amulet.

Dragonsbane 09-01-2004 02:02 PM

Aeryn's eyes narrowed slightly as he added up the clues.....quickly figuring out some of them, but deciding to wait until Cotan was finished speaking before he talked with his companions about his ideas.
