OOC: Myrra is probably only part-human, and Aeryn is a half-drow.....technically a form of half-elf. Half-elves get a bonus to Spot and Listen (in other words, keen eyesight and hearing), so he could still see you.

Mages have better eyesight than Fighters, at least!:p

Secretskull......PLEASE spellcheck your posts! You forget quotation marks, commas, periods......if you talked like that in real life, you would sound like you belonged in a mental institution. For the love of God and Chaos, use some punctuation WHERE IT'S SUPPOSED TO GO!!!

.....thanks, I just lost my cool for a second there.

IC: the wizard sighed, rolling his eyes, "Do you really want to know? Or do you just intend to attack us? If so, do it now....and don't waste time bandying words you don't mean."

PhoenixFlame 09-03-2004 03:37 PM

((Since we're in dialouge... And yeah, but your on the surface, remember? ;) ))

Za'rel gave the half-drow mage a blank look, and said, "Had I wanted your blood, you would know it." Then paused for a second, and added, "I am the last of the Blood Eagle Clan. We have defended the spring for generations, from outsiders like you. I would suggest you turn back now."

Sensing the tension, Za'rel struggled to resist the urge to keep her hands on of the gleaming hilts of her swords, "Too many to fight..." she thought, feeling, (but not looking) nervous.

((If there is a fight, and you win, you can probably coerce her to join you, honor thing and all.))

Arhra 09-03-2004 07:44 PM

The quicksilver dragon looks at her, smelling her nervousness. He decides to satisfy his own honour at the same time while guaranteeing that they find the spring and says, "We outnumber you four to one last of the Blood Eagle Clan. You will gain nothing but the complete destruction of your clan." Mercury pauses for a moment, seeing that his barb had struck before continuing, "We have gained this knowledge as payment for our victory. I will make you an offer however, fight me and if I win you must show us the way ot the spring but if you lose we will allow you to leave in peace."

PhoenixFlame 09-03-2004 07:52 PM

((Half-nicking from CBT, bear with me.))

Za'rel was almost taken aback by the Dragon's proposal. It was so clanlike, so... But, dragons are notorious for their theifish, dishonorable qualities! However. This one is different.

She had recieved a Batchall from this dragon, seeking a trial of possession for the exact location of the well. As was code, she must accept.

"You and I both know a Clan cannot survive without the lesser Castes. I will do my duty until the end."
"Thus I accept your trial of possession. Any weapons, this location, till yeild." Za'rel stated, with a Zellbrigen gleam in her eye.
Mercury nodded.
"Well bargained. and done."
Za'rel drew her swords, and took a defensive stance.

((Hmm... Dragon. Scales too thick for the normal weapon, magical attuneness will mitigate etheral weapon damage. Well, It'll be interesting for sure.))

Rhiya Ravenwing 09-04-2004 03:21 AM

Myrra sighed noisily. She didn't expect her note to go down that badly. Ah well, if the stranger insists on trying to kill Mercury, she won't interfere. At least, not yet.

Arhra 09-04-2004 05:13 AM

Mercury shifts his stance too and regards his opponent. He spreads out his wings to look more imposing and unleashes the dragonfear, attempting to demoralise Za'rel before the battle had even truely begun. He also is ready to twist his wings in front of him as a shield for with his innate magic he would be able to deflect spels cast at him if he was ready for it. Raising his head, he opens his jaws and inhales, electricity crackling off his jaws. The dragon prepares to exhale a bolt of lightning.

PhoenixFlame 09-04-2004 06:45 AM

Za'rel is unphased by Mercury's aura of fear. Preparing for her own attack, she crosses her blades in front of her, and says, "Deamons of the spirit realm, Lend me your fangs! Etheral Blades!" The Reaver's swords suddenly crackled with purple arcs of lightning, and emitted a loud noise akin to screeching metal. Suddenly, these effects stopped, and the only visible change was that Za'rel's swords were now 50% transparent.

Thinking Mercury would have a hard time aiming his breath at close range, Za'rel charges at him with a swift dash, swords poised.

Rhiya Ravenwing 09-04-2004 07:20 AM

Myrra ignored Za'rel's impatient dash at Mercury, turning her back on the fight. She twitched her left hand, bringing a massive root out of the earth. The unfortunate tree groaned painfully, bending slightly from the uprooting. The huge, snake-like root writhed and then sank a little. Satisfied, Myrra walked to it and abruptly sat on it, watching the ensuing fight with low humour.

Arhra 09-04-2004 07:26 AM

Mercury breaths forth the bolt of lightning, Za'rel feeling all her hair stand on end as it crackles over her shoulder. Some distance behind her it hits a small boulder which explodes with a concussive boom, spraying out shards of rock. Mercury still has tricks up his sleeve though. He gives a screeching cry and casts a gloryscale spell. His silvery scales begin to glow with a brilliant radiance. Within seconds they flare to such a degree that he is difficult to look upon, his brilliance making eyes water. Expecting Za'rel to use some sort of spell on herself he readies his magic to shunt the spell onto himself even as he moves forwards slowly, intending to let his radiant form give him an advantage in melee.

PhoenixFlame 09-04-2004 08:50 AM

Feeling the near-miss of the lightning breath, Za'rel didnt let the minor shock deter her from the all-important first attack. Thinking it would be best to use the bulk of her skills quickly, to get maximum effect, Za'rel initiates the second of her bladespell enchantments, "Blame your fate." she whispers, "Harrowing Affliction!" The Reaver's blades suddenly take a blood red hue, and she slams into Mercury a mere split second before his scales burst into a brilliant mass of light, making a deadly thrust at his midsection.

((Harrowing affliction is a spirt based spellblade, likes to do lots of negative status effects. More of an ability than an actual spell, so I'm going to assume I can do it eversoslightly quicker than you can cast.))

Rhiya Ravenwing 09-05-2004 04:56 AM

OOC: I shall now bump this thread up with a bit of slighted humour.

BIC:
"Now this is fun," Myrra murmured to nobody in particular.
"What is?" a small, squeaky voice made the dark mage sigh. Myrra turned a crown of flames to the little winged eyeball that had suddenly appeared next to her.
"Do you have to disturb me at this moment, Tiral? I am currently enjoying the undecided fate of a comrade. Shoo," she made a small movement with her right hand. The eyeball, Tiral, blinked once, then looked sneaky.
"I was just checking up. Master wonders what you were up to, using your scar so carefully," the eyeball said, "I mean, by now you would've massacred a city with it! What's wrong? Got competition?" Myrra sighed again. Damnit, He has to do that, doesn't he?

Arhra 09-05-2004 06:12 AM

Mercury twists to the side with a surprising suppleness but the the blades just glance off his side, his silvery scales turning the blow. Still, even through his natural resistance to magic he can feel its touch weaken him slightly. He hadn't expected this. But quickly running through his options he decides that the combination of his gloryscale spell and the natural toughness of his hide it wasn't too great a threat. Catlike, he swipes at Za'rel with his right claw, aiming for the torso.

Dragonsbane 09-07-2004 10:43 AM

Aeryn smirked, watching the fight.....he hadn't commanded a tree root like Myrra, finding it more convenient to sit cross-legged in midair, floating easily. He knew this was a bit too important for him to cheat.....tempting as it was to do so. He saw that the female human was managing to hurt his friend somewheat, and used a quick spell to establish a telepathic link, "Mercury....remember that you aren't just a dragon, you're also a Blue Mage. Try using some of her own spells against her!"

Rhiya Ravenwing 09-07-2004 06:23 PM

"Buzz off eyeball, you're distracting my leisure," Myrra said hotly. The eyeball faked a leaky tear before looking haughty.
"Fine! But I'd be more use if I stayed. I can see better than you," the feathers of the eyeball ruffled somewhat.
"Well of course you can see better. You are a frigging flying eyeball!" Myrra replied acidly. Clearly, though, she knew what Tiral meant. His ability to forsee the future would come in handy when she meets trouble. Damn, he's right... as usual... And probably foresaw his joining...

Dragonsbane 09-08-2004 09:48 AM

Aeryn heard Myrra say something, turned to look, saw the eyeball, and blinked in surprise, "What in the Nine Hells is that thing, Rage?" he shifted in the air so that he was facing her.

PhoenixFlame 09-08-2004 05:39 PM

((Sorry! I'm not dead, I just lost power for 5 days, nothing major.))
((Hrm. I'm going to forgo my rules so my battle taunts will sound right. Those are important you know.))

Za'rel was slightly disappointed her attack had not connected fully, but had done some damage to her opponent nonetheless. Pulling back from Mercury slightly, she flinched as the gloryscale spell took effect. "Aren't we clever..." she muttered audibly, not quite seeing Mercury's claw sweeping out of the glint.

Her ridiculously-fast warrior reflexes were no match for shuch a luckily placed swipe, and she barely got her left sword halfway into a defensive guard before being slammed horizontally backward about 4 feet. Luckily, her armor blocked most of the claw's slash, but the blunt damage still hurt. Za'rel cringed for a second, then quickly kick-flipped back to her feet. "Good. My turn." Aiming her sword at Mercury from her now-out-of-melee range, Za'rel grinned slightly, "Time to use my little trick." She thought, and then began the spell. Sheathing her right sword, Za'rel continued aiming the left at Mercury. Moving her right hand, as if tapping a pane of glass, she moved her fingers, drawing on the etheral energies around all life. Then, she thrust her right hand at the dragon, and yelled, "Evisceration of life!" Launching a deadly spirit-bolt at the Dragon.

((Mhmm. All reavers train as shaman for a time. This is the once-a-day, ranged bolt magic. Represents the epitome of her magical training.))

Rhiya Ravenwing 09-08-2004 10:43 PM

"Oh, that little annoying tripe?" Myrra waved a hand, almost knocking Tiral from the air.
"Oi!" the eyeball snorted indignantly, before whizzing over to Aeryn.
"Ehh... another black mage. Myrra!" Tiral rounded on Myrra, "Have you not told me something?"
"Am I supposed to?" the black mage replied viciously. Tiral watched Aeryn slyly, out of the corner of his eye. To answer Aeryn's question, she turned and ignored further protests from the small creature.
"That is a Foreseer. Unfortunately, he has foreseen his joining with us. Once you get one latched onto your journeys, not even the most powerful spell with faze the bloody creature. They have the knack of attuning to your spells and being immune to whatever you cast. I'll show you." Myrra flung her left hand out in a powerful swing, catching the fluttering eyeball right in the pupil. Lightning crackled and suddenly the critter was gone in a flash and a squeal.
"Wait, before you make another comment," she added. Yep, slowly, surely, a small wisp of smoke gathered from the air and... POP! Tiral reappeared, Squealing angrily.
"YOU KNOW I HATE IT WHEN YOU DO THAT!" He thundered in a shrill voice. Myrra's hand slapped down and pinned the fluttering eyeball to the tree.
"Shutup."

Arhra 09-09-2004 05:58 AM

OOC: Well you shouldn't think this too cheap, as we both knew it was coming and its probably how you were planning to lose. He was expecting a spell anyway.

Mercury gives a wolf-like grin that is, quite literally, blinding. He gives a cry of, "Is that the best you can do?" and sweeps a wing in front of it. The wing seems to glint strangely, suddenly seeming even more reflective than normal, as the spell strikes it. To Za'rel's surprise there is a silver flash when it strikes and the spirit-bolt bounces off the quicksilver dragon. Even worse, Mercury had carefully angled his wing to reflect it right back at her. Mercury replies, "I have tricks of my own." to Za'rel's half vocalised comment.

Dragonsbane 09-09-2004 09:43 AM

OOC: this battle is starting to look like something out of DBZ....I keep expecting the dragon to grow blonde, spiky hair and go "super saiyan"!:p

IC: "Interesting....is it your familiar? You seem to have met it before." the wizard smirked, hopping over onto the treebranch.

PhoenixFlame 09-09-2004 02:14 PM

((Luckily enough, the only 2 classes (in the system I use) that have armor vs Ether magic are... (Drum roll) Reavers and Shaman! Besides, had I been undefended, It'd have killed me. Its a killing spell anyway.))

Za'rel was shocked. "Reflect my spell? Can my spells even be reflected?" she thought, for an instant, before the bolt impacted her chest. Luckily, Clan Reavers weave their own wards agaisnt their spells before going to battle, but still significantly weaker than a ward agaisnt normal magic would be.

However, these were delicate wards, and this was a powerful bolt. Za'rel was knocked off her feet, and, again, launched backwards a few feet, swords flung in all directions. Luckily, her armor-ward had kept the bolt from killing her, but that did not make it hurt any less. "Saraga Ethbal! Use your own skills!" Za'rel shouted, trying to get up, but collapsed halfway into an attempt to lift herself.

Dragonsbane 09-09-2004 02:34 PM

Aeryn returned his attention to the fight, laughing at Mercury's trick, but stopped when he saw that the girl had collapsed, "Mercury...I think she's down, you've won." he stood up, pulling one of his more powerful healing potions from his belt, and going over to her...

Rhiya Ravenwing 09-09-2004 09:35 PM

"I'm not her familiar!" Tiral was saying hotly, but Myrra and Aeryn ignored him. Myrra arched an eyebrow as the female collapsed. A small smile curled her lips. That's what you get for challenging a dragon she thought, highly amused. She did not bother getting up to see if the girl was alright, though. Serves her right.

Arhra 09-10-2004 07:58 AM

Mercury ignores the bickering between Myrra and her eyeball familiar thing. Instead he allows his gloryscale spell to fade away looks at Za'rel who is still struggling to climb to her feet. Considering what to do for a moment, he says to her, "You have been defeated in a trial of possession and I claim you as my bondsman." He moves closer, shouldering Aeryn aside slightly, and extends a silvery claw to her, to help her climb to her feet.

Dragonsbane 09-10-2004 10:59 AM

OOC: Arha, I finally remembered where I've seen your sig before. It's a Shadow Dragon, isn't it?

IC: Aeryn glared up at his larger comrade, "Watch who you're shoving, dragon! Being this large seems to have inflated your ego a bit." he smirked at Za'rel, "In any case...we now have a minion to carry items, move things, and generally assist our endeavors. All in all, a fine bit of work." he put the potion back, seeing that she apparently didn't need it, and returned to Myrra's treebranch...sitting back down on it where he had before.

PhoenixFlame 09-10-2004 02:18 PM

((Human? in the race slot would suggest something, wouldnt it? Mmyes.))

Za'rel shakes off her daze, ignores Aeryn, shoves Mercury's claw out of the way, methodically reaches for her swords, and proceeds to use them to stand. Afterwards licking the blood clean from the blades, and sheathing them. "Curse you inferior beings!" she mutters angrily, and then calms down. "So be it Dragon." Glaring at Aeryn, adds, "He does, you have yet to earn my respect, much less my service." accentuating the statement by spitting a mouthful of blood at the ground in front of him. "Now. Proceed." she adds, nodding to Mercury.

((Yeah. Eugenics went on in fantasy settings too. my favorite blend, the 1/4 dwarf/elf, 1/2 human breed. Cant tell them from normal humans, advantages cancel out, but they gain some neat things.))

secretskull 09-10-2004 02:37 PM

"Whatch who your calling inferior." Said Will who had been whatching from the side. "Because your around two black mages, a dragon and me so be carfull not to upset us or you'l most likely find your self dead in more way's than you can count." He said with a grin fingering his sickle and short sword.

Dragonsbane 09-10-2004 06:59 PM

IC: Aeryn laughed at her, "Jalil, if I wanted a packmule I'm sure I could find one that doesn't talk quite so much....and my kleptomanic compatriot has a point; learn your place! Now, will I have to turn you into a toad, or can you shut up on your own?" he said, giving her a pleasant, yet undeniably menacing, smile.

OOC: damn arrogant mages!:p

by the way....magical eugenics wasn't always that successful....I mean, look at owlbears!

PhoenixFlame 09-10-2004 07:08 PM

((Practical Perfection, one horrific mistake at a time. :p))

Za'rel grinned at the Thief, "Indeed. I will keep that in mind *Me*" she said, in a completely serious tone, however the statement dripping with sarcasm. Turning to the mage, she thought, "Drow. Typical. A little out of place for a male, especially on the surface." Looking him over, her thoughts drifted even more, "Half-breed. Inferior race. Lacking essential physical capabilities and social status." However, that fool of a thief was in a roundabout way, somewhat correct. Deciding to swallow her pride, she simply replied, "Aff." Looking up at the dragon, Za'rel spoke, while slowly turning, "Follow." and then walked down the path, toward to spring.

((Arrogance Versus Pride! Fight! *bell sounds*))'
Off-topic: I'm suffering acute addiction to Tales of Symphonia right now, must resist urge to yell out names of attacks. Must... Resist... Argh! Must also resist visualising RP as anime.

Edit: Unfortunately, the guy you described is also the most foolish character, so... That'd be Will. >.<

In response to Aeryn's comment, oocly, Dang. Thats a real good way to get killed really fast. Best be lucky she's on your side.

Dragonsbane 09-10-2004 07:26 PM

OOC: Aeryn is mostly just a cynical, EVIL, bastard who knows when he has an advantage...in this case, his allies, and spells and abilities of his own. :p

soon, they'll FINALLY get the perfect result of all the eugenics...and then get horrifically devoured by it. Still, a perfect (perfectly ironic) ending to all their hard work ;)

IC: Aeryn also looked her over, wondering what in the Nine Hells his dragon ally was thinking, and how long her "honor" was going to hold. He smirked, seeing the look on her face...including the all-too-familiar moment of prideful condecension mingled with relief, a look he had seen all too often on the faces of full-blooded drow. They were relieved to see that their enemy was of an "inferior" race...and they underestimated him, at the same time looking down on him for the same reason. Most of the drow who had assumed that were dead now...

idiotic bastards... he thought, his smirk broadening a bit at some of his memories, "Lead on, fair wench!" he said mockingly, in a sarcastic parody of courtly manners,

[edit] OOC2: (Offtopic) Anime-style Aeryn? *snickers* I keep picturing him being chased by hordes of fangirls, now. I didn't specify incredible good looks, but at least ONE male, humanoid, character in every anime has them!

Mercury already has the post of "cute animal"

Now we just need some buxom women in low-cut outfits....

Arhra 09-11-2004 12:42 AM

OOC: Yep its a shadow dragon. Actually, out of the two of them, Mercury seems more likely to have crazy fangirls. As you just said, he's the cute one. :P We really need to start a new topic very soon. Anyone had ideas for a new title yet. Inferno has disappeared after all.

Mercury is growing weary of Aeryn's ... of Aeryn. Just to show his opinion of some of his comments he knocks Aeryn off balance a little with a wing as he begins to move and starts following his new bondsman. He thinks, with a tint of humour, that he should really teach some of his companions to treat his property better. The thought amuses him though he knows that bondsmen aren't truly property. Speaking particularily to Aeryn and Will he says, "Would you all stop your incessant bickering? Its starting to get on my nerves." and he speeds up slightly

Mercury is quite eager to discover that spring. Free power is hard to resist.
That makes him think of something and he asks Za'rel a question, "Have you drunk from the spring yourself?'

Rhiya Ravenwing 09-11-2004 01:14 AM

OOC: o.O"
NO you will NOT put Myrra in a scantily clad costume!

BIC:
Oh jeeze, Myrra thought impatiently. They start of wishing to ressurect my deceased one and now they're gone power hungry. Bah, might as well go on a power hungry craze. Won't hurt to keep my reputation, she decided and leapt lightly off the uprooted... root, and squashing Tiral underfoot by "accident", ( where she means "accidentally grabbing Tiral's wings and throwing him down and then stepping on him with both feet). She ignored the impudent eyeball's painful squeals and trailed on behind the others. Bah, let them think I have no honor. They don't know what honor is.

PhoenixFlame 09-11-2004 05:25 AM

Za'rel was mentally angered at Aeryn in the highest degree, but could not show it. One with a good eye may have even caught a hint of steam coming out of her ears. "Impudent wretch." she thought. Mercury pulled up beside her as they came to a fork in the road. Za'rel pointed right, and they proceeded farther. Looking at the dragon, Za'rel whispered, "The Drow, I think I will have to kill him."
Mercury laughed, "Just to relieve tension?"
"Something like that."
The warrior continued, "Sakhan, I cannot simply go around adressing you as "Dragon." Your designation would be appreciated."
"Mercury."
The reaver nods, "They call me many things, you may as well."

Rhiya Ravenwing 09-11-2004 06:19 AM

"I'll call you Hairball," A sudden voice sounded in the woman's left ear. Za'rel's eyes widened slightly. Tiral chuckled devilishly.
"Wondering how the hell I can sneak up on the likes of you?" Tiral snickered. A sudden movement destroyed whatever Tiral was about to add when Za'rel killed the flying eyeball.
Myrra chuckled as Tiral materialised again and began screaming shrilly at the female. Almost intelligible words floated to the dark mage's ears.
".... MORON!... HOW MUCH IT.... HURTS!... COULD'VE.... DAMNIT!.... STUPID CREATURE!!!"

PhoenixFlame 09-11-2004 08:00 AM

((Mmm. Humor.))

Za'rel grinned slightly at the eyeball. "Intriuging."
The eyeball looked at her warily, "What, Whats Intriuging?!"
"You. You reappear when destroyed. I may have use for you." Za'rel looks at Myrra, and asks, "Do you mind?"
Myrra chuckles, "No, not at all, Damnable pesky creature."
Za'rel grins at the eyeball, "Very well, Training combat, Defend yourself!"
The eyeball looks at her incrediulously, "You cannot be serious..."
Fa-SHING! A slight metallic glint, and a steely sound heralds the eyeball's next fate. Reappearing over Za'rel's shoulder, he screams, "NO! Nonononono, Stop! st..." Za'rel spins, slicing the eyeball open with a reverse-grip swipe from her off-hand sword, eyes fixed on the creature.
*Poof* Tiral appears a few feet away on the ground, "Ayiee! Get it away! get it away!"
Laughing now, Za'rel casually throws her right hand sword, pinning the eyeball to the ground by it's right wing. "Excellent. You need to work on your evasiveness however." she says dryly, recovering the sword.

Arhra 09-11-2004 08:11 AM

I've gone and started the new thread. It'll still use the title of "Inferno's arrival to the 8bit theatre world" seeing how we haven't come up with a new name yet.
