Nintendo....#Wha?
Now this is a funny picture.
http://mediaviewer.ign.com/ignMediaP...F442633p1.html Looks like it was made by a political cartoonist. Wonder if it was just by some guy from IGN or what. But in any event, the skinny is Nintendo has performed, consistantly mind you, to sell the most hardware and software combined since its 99 price drop 2 months ago (not counting the GBA and its games, but just the 'big three'). Wonder if the sales will continue through Christmas. With all the deals and ways to get Nintendo Products this year (and the recent unveiling that the GBA is the #1 most wanted item for Kid shoopers at a few store polls), I think it might continue. ;) |

I already see the best games so far this Holiday Season have been for GBA personally but I see GC getting some good ones soon. I really am not interested in any PS2 ones coming up....except a few. And they're also coming to GC.... |
From November 24-27th (I believe those were the dates), the Gamecube outsold Xbox and PS2 for the first time in a long time. As you know, those few days are a huge time, since that's right when everyone is out doing holiday shopping. It'll be interesting to see if Nintendo keeps this up through the Christmas season. The $99 dollar price drop helped a lot.

The new low price gave nintendo a nice bost up from last place back into competition with the others, but it is not suddenly dominating the market with the others looking for scraps like the comic shows.

It will, price is always the edge in the christmas season....why you ask?
"mommy mommy i want video games for christams"-10 year old child *clueless mother thinking too self*"oh dear jesus those things cost an arm and a leg"*drives to wal-mart*....wow, this one is cheap...and look at all the cute game covers on the games it has*buys* That happens a lot people, nintendo wasnt just crapping on themselves when they decided to keep their games cheap and kid geared |

And another thing they have said against time and time again has been marketing to the 'child market'. They continue to state that there games are for everyone to play and enjoy. Don't make me go into a big thing like I did in the Animation thread... |
Well, it's up against a system near the end of its life-cycle, and a system that has only had, and this is a generous estimate, maybe half a dozen games that are generally regarded as being "good." Not really a suprise. The real suprise was that the PS2 managed to stay on top for so long, despite its limited hardware.
P.S. Don't ask me what the other four after Halo and Knights of the Old Republic are. Like I said, it was a generous estimate. |
D.I. LOVES him some Microsoft.
iBrow: Actually, from what I understand, Nintendo wasn't really in last place. Well, depending on how you look at it... In the UK/Europe, Xbox is absolutely dominating GCN, throwing it in a FAR last. In Japan, it's the opposite, with Xbox in a HUGE back position (it was beaten in sales, one month, by the Playstation 1!). In America, it's been basically a tied race between the Xbox and GCN, with the two grappling back and forth for 2nd place. |
