Matrix TNG Chapter 4: The Hunt
After everyone had split off into groups of two the detectors flared to life. They indicated that pieces where to be found in 5 places. One piece was indicated to be within the Merovingian estate. Another was with the Persephone and the third was in the hands of the Trainman. The last two pieces would require a lot more work and more than two people. These pieces resided in the domains of The Twins and the Entity respectively. While his crew was working out who would get what, some groups had simply left calling one place or another, Captain and Niobe went to meet the Ghost Gang. They had a crew of fakes in toe. The fakes where self governing programs, which looked like the crew, that could fight and interact basically but close examination for more than a few minutes would reveal the desception. With everything in place Captain stepped onto the roof where he was to meet the gang with his entourage close behind.
ooc: You all get 10 points and a single level in any skill where you already have points. (You can't use these points to buy a skill you don't have yet than take the extra level in that skill.) The fighting is going to pick up now so you get an extra level in any skill you have used to date as mentioned above. |
ooc: Today I will spend! I'll spend 10 points on my acceleration, making it go to Lv. 4 if I presume right. If I checked right I have 5 points left over.
The detector in Bass' hands beeped off. "Hmm...hey Insaniac, how's about we visit a certain Frenchman in his estate? He could use the company." He cocked the hammer in his gun and smirked. |
ooc: Can we take the skill jump in a skill that we have a level in, but have yet to use as such? If so, I'll jump to Cloaking level 2, allowing me to actually become invisible (for 3 minutes, only while motionless), as well as being hidden from Matrix searches (as I am now).
Otherwise I'll take the skill jump in TK. I got 2 skill points at the end of the second Chapter, 1 at the end of the first, and now 10, which brings me up to a pool of 13, two away from another skill jump. ic: Adept looked around. "Ah, I think that I recognise this area. The Merovingian's estate should be just over there, not so? Before we continue, we should discuss our tactics..." |
OOC: Yeah thats fine. Just as long as you had points in it prior to this chapter.
|
OOC: I'll put my bonus level toward Healing (thus Level 2) and hang on to my points for now.
IC: Insaniac nodded, holding his dagger in his off hand while holding his readied Ingalis. "Sounds like fun, although I would have enjoyed paying the twins a visit." |
ooc: I will upgrade my Endurance skill to level 2, and use my ten points to cross invest in the human skill Healing level 1.
Feeling a little wierd he continued to think for a moment. He noticed that his minor scrapes he had recieved as a human on his rush to get to Zion were gone, is this just becuase I am in the matrix he wondered. Then a good plan came to him.. it would be perfect. Alpha looked at the human. "Well I actualy already have a plan. Though it will require some background information on your part. What do you know about an extinct program named 'Alpha'?" Alpha asked with the most unconcering look ever. "I just need to know if you ever met this program before his demise or if I have to start from the begining about him?" Edit: I almost forgot to tell people about my skills.. |
Adept looked sideways at "Mr. Anderson," and thought for a moment before answering. "I knew him, a little. Our paths crossed a number of times, since we often had similar goals. I was there when he was... made 'extinct', to use your word. On the other hand, the Matrix is an often unpredictable place; if Alpha survived, it wouldn't be the first time that someone has had a miraculous escape in the Matrix." Adept tried unsuccessfully to read "Mr. Anderson's" expression. "Why do you ask?"
|
Alpha tried to keep from smiling though a small smirk may have made it through. "You see my 'friend, (mumbling) though I us the word lightly (end mumbling), he was searching for a program in his latest mision. He was to kill this program, though just when he had the perfect chance.. he double guessed himself. He let the program live... and never letting the other program know why he kept fighting for the programs life letting none know of his fight, save his master. " Alpha started to trail off realizing this he cuaght himself quickly. " Anywho.. I think since Alpha died to save this program.. if we could catch it.. we could trade it for the piece of the code. What cha think?" Holding his breathe Alpha was trying to judge the charector of this being. " I should warn thee though. Alpha did die for this program. I saw him die for this program... so its up to you if we should betray what Alpha did for it."
|
Adept looked sharply at "Mr. Anderson", then looked away again just as quickly. Surely, if this were indeed Alpha, somehow returned, he would not suggest betraying this program... Unless it was some sort of test, but then why would Alpha test him? There were far more quetsions here than answers. The only thing to do was to to answer honestly: "I don't think that we should betray anyone. It may leave us at a tactical disadvantage, but it wouldn't be right."
|
Alpha let off a sigh of relief. "You honor the memory of Alpha.. he was a good program .. he saved my life more then once.." Smirking a little He cracked his neck. "Shall we go and.. say invite our selves into the party?" He pointed with his face to the french man's doors. Many programs and sleeping humans were entering in full party outfits. "I am sure.. we can make some sorta trouble here." With that Alpha head for the doors.
