pokemon channel

good lord in heaven why..

For those of you that dont know, there is a new pokemon game coming out that isnt an rpg((i dont have to say anymore, the non-rpg ones are nothing but money grabs we all know that)).....the game just looks like hey you pikachu with better graphics.......and graphics are all it has going for it.

Pokemon had potential(slap me if you want) and i like all the rpg games they've done thus far, but before you hurridly hit the back button let me explain to those of you that didnt play it past the ending. That all the pokemon games actually do involve a GREAT deal of stradegy. It is equivalent to taking the move list of a final fantasy character((whichever game i dont care)) and FORCING you to only pick four of those moves. On top of his your final fantasy character has a weakness to some elements and a great strength against others. You cant tell me that , that has no potential for funny situations and very tweeked characters.

So WHHHYYY do they do this....and perpetuate this "pokemon is a cutesey game with flowers......and bees like honey" stereotype that this cock fighting on crack game series really doesnt deserve.

I am looking into Pokemon Colluseum because three of my friends and I have the game and we could battle each other on the GC. Sounds cool to me. I'm ready to beat people to a pulp with my Legends and Ninetails. Ha!

...as for this other game, it sounded like a money maker when I first looked into it so I haven't since. So...yeah.

Meh... I can't say I'm looking forward to it, but I can't say I hate its very existence.

Purin 12-03-2003 10:17 PM

meh, I'm not gonna get this game, so I don't really care

and about your comment on how pokemon is a great game, i agree. I had a few problems with it, but overall, it was a really cool idea, and I often find myself imagining "what if I was in that world? What if I was a pokemon master?"

KefkaTaran 12-03-2003 10:23 PM

What kind of game is it? Not that I'm honestly all that interested in anything Pokemon as of late, but nonetheless.

As it was described to me, you basically pay $40 to watch your Pokemon watch TV.

Mog 12-03-2003 11:34 PM

thats what it is, your job as the main character is to sit down and watch an "experimental pokemon show or something" and pikachu stands by the tv as you watch the tv on your tv and pikachu acts all cute, and for excitement you water your garden

I got the first one. LOVED it. I was TOTALLY addicted. Got stadium, was slightly distraught by the lack of actual contact in the game...
My bro got yellow version. near-complete rip-off.
Got the second one, which was a lot like the first one.
Got the next stadium....which was a lot like the first one...
crystal came out, we all knew better than to get that.
end. what has happened since? They really killed the dream for me, and after forcing myself to watch a couple (meaning 2) of their pokemon show, I almost started to dislike pokemon, but have since tried to stay neutral.

I have Pokemon Red and Stadium. They're both good, but I never ventured past these for one reason: too many Pokemon! Now I understand that having lots of different characters is a good thing. I personally love Suikoden 2, and that game has 108 characters. But here's the thing: eventually it gets out of hand. It wasn't even fun to try and capture all 151 in the first game, cause you usually only use 6-12 of them all the time and the rest just sit there. Now their up to what, 3000 of them? Why should I waste my time catching them all? I don't even get anything for doing it. I was expecting some secret level or something once I caught them all, but no, I wasted days of my life getting little animals for nothing.

Recently, I saw a chart with the newer Pkemon on them. Are the creators running out of ideas? Blob with arms, blob with antennae, large bird, large bird with colors, and so on. Once they start running out of Pokemon, you know there's something wrong.

i actually do have crystal and love it more than red and blue, its more balanced, yes they were running out of ideas but a few of the new ones are very nice, tyranitaur and umbreon to name a few
