Inuyasha: The Movie

Yes. Apparently, it recently came out in the States. Not in theatres, but in DVD form. I picked up a copy.

Hell...yes.

It's basically an extended episode (not like that's a bad thing). The jist of the movie (without giving away many spoilers) is that when Inuyasha's father was still alive, he ruled the East lands as the most powerful demon there. Well, 200 years before the movie takes place, the Mongol army had invaded Japan. Of course, this attracted large armies of Demons from the continent (The rest of Asia) to invade Japan also to take the souls of the soldiers that died in the wars. The demons from the continent were lead by Hyoga, a great Moth Demon with power that rivaled Inuyasha's father. The two great demons battled it out, and Inuyasha's dad managed to win by sealing Hyoga's power inside one of his fangs. Now, 200 years later, Hyoga's only son has risen and is trying to release his father's power and take it for himself. But to do that, he needs Inuyasha's sword...

The music was great, and the animation was top-notch, at least in my opinion. The lighting was a little too bright at times, flooding out some of the pictures. And they kind of overdid some things. But it was still the kind of quality I expected from the Inuyasha series.

So, if you like Inuyasha, you'll love it. If you don't really know what Inuyasha is, you'll have no clue what's going on. Luckily, the DVD has a special feature that has a bunch of show clips in order to show you what has happened in the series so far. Good stuff.

There's more than one movie. First is the one you mentioned, or Inu Yasha the Movie.
There's one involving a demonness in a mirror, which gives us more Kagura and Kanna. It's called Castle Beyond the Looking Glass.
There's one in which Sesshomaru wants another sword, as well. It came out in Japan in December, if memory serves me. I do not know its title.

They're on episode, uh, probably near 200 by now... Someone will probably correct me, though.

Actually, visit Lush: the Inu Yasha Shrine for a lot of accurate information.

167 TV episodes, 4 TV specials, and 4 Movies. That is all that I know of.

I heard the 3rd one is the best, forget the title though

Question. If Inuyasha's sword is made from a fang filled with another demon's power in addition to his father's power, shouldn't it be able to defeat a sword only made from his father's fang? (Tetsuiga vs Tenseiga)

But the Tenseiga has the power to save 100 people in one swing and chooses to serve Sesshomaru. Even if the Tetsusaiga is more powerful offensively, Inu Yasha can't technically kill his brother.

Of course, what do I know... I'm not as familiar with the show as some. Also, Rumiko doesn't seem to typically care much for being extremely sesnible within her plots.

The swordsmith that forged the two swords said that the father left the two swords to the two brothers, so they could not kill one another. It doesn't say that either of them were chosen to the best of my knowledge.

Actually they were chosen. The Tetsuiga was made to kill demons, no doubt about that, but it can't be USED by a demon, hence, the HALF-demon Inuyasha is the only brother that can truly use it. Sessy once used it by putting a human arm in his missing arm slot, but it burns him if he touches it with his demon hand.

Also, I think Sessy's sword was one of those final lesson things. "Here's a sword that heals people, try to go on a killing streak with that, bitch."

In the first Totosai Episoad, Totosai himself say's that inuyash's father had left him specific Instruction's that the younger brother get the Tetsagia, and the older get Tensagai (spelling bad...)

Also, recall when Inu Yasha attempted to kill Sesshomaru. The Tenseiga, according to the dialogue following their spat, supposedly chose to save its master, whether he cared for it or not.
