Good Horror Movies

I'm currently on a huge horror movie kick, and I'd like to know what you all would conisder as a good horror movie. I'm going to go on a horrible, money wasting DVD binge here soon, so give me some good movies to buy,

I've got one I watched recently. It's a British one called 28 Days Later.

Mr. Wind-Up Bird 09-13-2004 08:28 PM

That was a good one. Adding to the list.

Archbio 09-13-2004 08:28 PM

I'd second that. But don't watch the alternative ending after the original one.

Did you see all the movies in the list or are you asking? (I'll think of some good movie and edit it into my post)

Edit:

-Exorcist I
-Exorcist III
-Scanners
-The Thing
-From Hell
-The Re-Animator (how could I forget that?! Herbert West improving on Herbert West!)
-Street Trash (sort of)

Average list:
-Ginger Snaps series

Mr. Wind-Up Bird 09-13-2004 08:29 PM

I've seen most of them. I just don't own a lot of them.

Added the following:
Tom Savini remake of Night of the Living Dead
The rest of the Alien series
phantasm 1 and 2
poltergiest
chainsaw massacre part 2
The Exorcist
Psycho (the first one, stupid)
An American Werewolf in London
Cannibal Holocaust
Eraserhead

Maybe any of the Resident Evil movies? I think the second one is out now, at least where I live.

Mr. Wind-Up Bird 09-13-2004 08:46 PM

Yeah, about those....

I sat though hellraiser 3-5, bloodsucking freaks, and return of the living dead 2 and they were much much better then both resident evil movies.

If i really need to see Milla Jovovich I'll watch The Fifth Element.

But this thread isn't about Milla Jovovich or how bad the resident evil movies are. It's about good horror movies!

BlackMageGirl! 09-13-2004 08:49 PM

Ah, sorry about that. How about The Others or Darkness Falls?

Mr. Wind-Up Bird 09-13-2004 08:52 PM

The others was good as was the sixth sense.

Both added to the ever growing list of doom.

Oefina 09-13-2004 08:52 PM

I like resident evil. But anyway, I thought Jeepers Creepers was a really creepy movie. 6th sence didn't really phase me though. Hm.
