Cthulhu? Where are you?

I think I thought this was something else or something... anyway... it still holds true that you can put whatever you want about any CoC games you played here.

Actually, I ran a Call of Cthulhu game on these boards a pretty long time back that was fairly popular and fun. Good game overall, and I've been contemplating running another game of it sometime. Just haven't gotten around to doing it yet.

Yes. That was cool. Especially when the Zombie snuck up on Frankie (my character) and bit him in the shoulder, and then just about everyone who saw it freaked out, but Frankie didn't lose any sanity at all.

Celes's character: Ahhh! He's being eaten! By a ZOMBIE! *faint*
Frankie: Oh my... I do seem to have a zombie gnawing on my shoulder. Perhaps shooting it in the face would be an amicable solution. Dear chaps, could someone lend me a hand in dispatching this foul beast?

Don't forget the blood room. That was funny, espescially when the rest of the group came up to the house to see IHMN covered in blood and everyone (including me) freaking out.

And FZ, if you are making a new one, do it. I had a lot of fun in the first one, even if I did have some bad luck the first mission.

Erm.. What is CoC?

I can't believe the rolls you got that made you stay sane during that... It was hilarious though.

And the Blood Room was good. That was a hard one to not freak out at...

If I did another one, I would make it Modern Day this time, and sort of leave off with where the first one ended... I've been idlely tinkering with it on some days, but I recently got a new computer, and I've been having trouble getting all my data from Comp 1 onto Comp 2, so any RPs I've been working on in secret have been put off for now.

And Call of Cthulhu is an RPG, where the "Heroes" are usually average people that learn about the "Cthulhu Mythos", the world hidden within ours full of monsters. For the most part, it's a very dark game, because the "Heroes" die. A lot. And serious deaths, like in the first game where IHMN opened up the attic for the team, and a monster promptly devoured his heart and threw his corpse back at the team. Ironically enough, it was his zombie that attacked Frankie, and IHMN was rooting for his zombie at that point...

But overall, if you can get together the right group of people, it's a good game. It ended last time when the team entered the house of a Necromancer trying to get immortality, and he scared them all off by making one of the rooms ooze blood. A lot of blood... After that the posting got a bit confused, and it just sort of faded out before they re-organized and headed back to finish the job.

Think DnD, only you have more of a modern setting, so you get things like guns. Now, the things you're fighting are rather unstoppable if you aren't prepared and go after them right away, so you have to investigate on it before you go after. Even then, you still can't go charging with guns blazing, because you'll still get something sucked out of you by a hideous demon. This means you must use your brain about 96% of the time (that was a guessed number). Overall, a very good game for the people who like thinking.

Also, a waring for anyone who wants to start playing, think up multiple character concepts, because your original isn't going to last for very long.

Hmmm...didn't Sosa make twinks for that? I don't remember what they were, I vaguely remember something about an illiterate strong guy.

Myst 09-14-2004 08:14 PM

Yes, please start a CoC campaign. I beg of you.

AndyBloodredMage 09-14-2004 08:16 PM

Airbag: The twinks were funny in how ineffective they were. The best way to not lose any sanity was to create a character that was blind, deaf, and stayed at home in a rocking chair. That way if a demon ever attack him, he would never notice and thus never lose sanity.
