Controlling your shag
Hey guys. I'm from Canada, and as some of you may know it gets so cold up here in the frozen north that many of us strapping young Canadian males grow a shag in the winter to fend off the frost bite. haha anyways, I find that they are 100% uncontrollable and often look like a giant ball of fuzzy looking mess that people make fun of, or if you wear a hat, you can make it look sort of like an airplane. Anyways I was just wondering for all you shaggers out there, how do you control that mop??? any tips

I tend to wear a hat. But I don't live in Canada. And I can't stand my hair being longer than 1 inch.
Edit: the hat I wear is the hat my avatar wears, except mine doesn't have one side pinned up any more. |
i wear my russian hat

Gel... lots and lots of Gel.
use it for a few years and your hair will slowly but surely take it's gelled form naturally. (YES! I finally got rid of that parted haircut! [1988-2001) |
i used to have my hair long (shoulder lenght) way back in middle school i realized, however, that i looked incredibly dumb, and started keeping it short. ive stuck by that ever since.
and in the winter i wear my black fidora, as it matches my black trenchcoat. perfect equipment for a windy Chicago winter. |
My hair has been known to eat people when its gets big enough and I forget to wash it. Short answer: I don't. Trying to control my hair is like trying to tame a savage beast who is more than capable of hurting me. Water can subdue it for a period of time, but nothing short of a half a canister of palmade can keep it in line.

When my hair wasn't long enough to be held down by it's own weight, I'd use mousse, gel, spray, or a combination. Now that it's long, it just lays down by itself.

I have a parted hairdo myself, but I either spike it up or gel it forward and part my bangs from the middle to the sides.
On-topic: my advice for the shag is to shave your head and wear a beanie. Your head mill stay warm, and the hair won't be a problem at all. |
