what does it take
chess requirers creativity and practicing. after a point you can't just go to tourniments and play, I know that cause I tried. I went to the LPO and had wining positions on 4 out of 5 games, out of those four I got a one win and a tie, the game that I had a losing position in I won. so you can't just pick up and play

but I'm lazy
then you will be doomed to get you butt kicked

there is a chess team at my middle school, but I don't want to be labeled as a dork
middle school and late elementry school are the best times to start chess. all chess player are very talkative, so playing and talking with budds is a great way to get into chess. for one, you should want to get better to be able to beat them, and two, you should want to own random strangers.

or you can get hand outs from the person in charge, practice like hell at home and only got to tourneys.

how to go to tourneys

go to the chess site for your state and get registered then check at the tourney part of the site. then you go.

scolastic tourneys and tourneys with out pay out are from 8-20 dollers

some tourneys give the winners payouts from 20 to in the hundreds
more entree fee = more pay out

what if I'm older
by the books go to barnes n noble and if you really like that get private lessons
