Mozilla is made by the same company as Firefox, but the difference is that Firefox doesn't have all the unnecessary bells and whistles. Firefox is a pure browser, thats it. But you can download plugins for it that can do everything from remove images from web page displays (one of my favorites) to install a Tetris clone. Also, you say you got rid of the files Mr. Viewtiful. I would strongly recommend wiping all previous system restore points and making a new one if you have system restore enabled.
Also, my standard list of sugestions (some of which you've already done): 1) Download Spybot Search & Destroy: www.safer-networking.org 2) Download Ad-Aware: www.lavasoft.com 3) Zone Alarm: www.zonelabs.com (Zonelabs.org is a fake site) 4) Firefox: www.mozilla.org/firefox 5) A decent anti-virus package, such as Norton or McAfee (these are the only two I have experience with and so I can't really recommend any others). 6) Stop using Outlook. www.mozilla.org/thunderbird (incase you can't tell, I'm a big fan of their software) Really, with this combination of 6 things you should be able to do just about anything without having a problem. |
To add...
Mozilla is the open-source offshoot of Netscape's browser, components of which have since returned to Netscape's proprietary software. Firefox, as just mentioned, is the browser-only software that has come out of Open Source Software development. Mozilla is essentially a package - browser, e-mail client, newsgroup access, IRC chat access (unless Chatzilla is separate from Mozilla), and possibly a few more things I've never paid attention to. Firefox is the browser element only, streamlined and, obiously, much smaller on your system. |
