He's an elf, isn't bishounen kinda basic?

Dragonsbane 10-03-2004 02:52 PM

No, no it isn't....but that's a widely held misconception.

still, it would explain why all the half-elves have human fathers...

Fine, I got rid of the androgynously part since it seems to annoy you so.

Also, incase you don't know, lungs can get more oxygen from water then gills can. It's just that lungs have no way of getting rid of the water. So the gills on Posidian's necks could just be some openings and vein type things that take the water out of the lungs.

Or they can stay as gills, it really doesn't matter.

We really don't need to get into the physics of it. The gills are a physical representation of the fact that you can breathe under water.

If you have to know; the gills work like this:

Posidian's have two esophogi, which wrap around each other like a twizler.
The Gills act very similarly to a Jet engine, bringing a constant and steady stream of water through them, and plucking the oxygen out. The oxygen then is routed to the esophigus which brings a steady stream of air to the Lungs. Posidian Lungs work independantly from each other, so while the right lung brings a long and steady stream of oxygen into it, the other slowly pumps a steady stream of carbon dioxide out of the second esophigus, causing what looks like a fine mist in the water around them when they swim.

The second esophigus and independant lungs also provide Posidians with a great gift for song, allowing them to go longer than most other spieces. As a result, Posidian music can result in half-hour long songs.

Wow.

This is deep man.

*sighs* Look, Supersaiyan, maybe you haven't gotten this yet, but the two of you (Solnac and yourself) aren't the only ranger types here! I said it earlier: My character spent about 30 years on his own in the forest. He chose to live in the forest. He didn't have any kind of home to go to if things got tough. He lived out in the forest 24/7/365. He knows how to survive in the forest, not to mention keep hidden.

Darth SS 10-03-2004 06:26 PM

Alec is just saying, let him do the scouting.

Not because you won't stay hidden, but because the last few times you've seen Orcs you've flipped out and charged straight in. Alec has a healthy sense of self-preservation, so he'll run and come back with the group.

That, and I don't think he made hunting orcs in forests a life-style, nor can he ask trees and plants to budge slightly to cover him. He may be good, yes, but Alec and Sarin are likely better because of their affinity to nature.

Cloud Strife 10-03-2004 06:28 PM

Point taken, SS. Thanks for the explination.

I was just kidding about the bishounen stuff, really. Besides, it would be funny if Kiiri was rescued by that point, seems to develop a crush on him, and ends up making Hakar very jealous.

Hilarity can then ensue

Hakar also has an advantage, Mind element is highly versatile...he could cloud the minds of nearby orcs into not noticing him, a bit like Obi-Wan Kenobi.

SAAM, excellent description of the Posidion breathing system. I'm guessing that was all your idea?

IHateMakingNames 10-03-2004 07:47 PM

Fine, I put the androgynously back in.

Also, for scouting/foresty stuff, I'd go with the Earth elemental before the Mind. Sure, he can cloud minds, but that's about it for actual stealth. Earth people can abuse the earth and plants nearby to keep them hidden, to prevent them from making noise, and hiding tracks. Even if you clouded minds, they might notice some tracks or traces of scouting.

Edit - Also, for future refence, Osiris is going to laugh and mock HoP's guy often. In a pirate world, you don't live to be old.
