Earthquakes...
So apparently there was an earthquake here in the part of Finland where I live, yesterday. I say apparently, cause I didn't notice anything...I was on the computer at the time though...
Anyways...This got me thinking...Have YOU experienced any earthquakes? Are there many earthquakes in the area you live in? How strong are they on the richter scale? |
I live in California. 'nuff said.
|
You live in California Lycanthrope? *wince* I feel for ya. Well, In the US most of the earthquakes happen around the Californian area. They are also pretty severe. Lucky for me though I live in the Midwest so I only have to worry about tornados.
|
Yeah...Lucky you...
I don't really have to worry about anything and this was propably the first earthquake ever to happen here. |
Lucky for me I live in the panhandle of Florida and only have to worry about stuff like Ivan...wait, RUN FOR THE HILLS!!

Let's remember that the discussion forum is a good place for serious discussions and not topics like this, which could easily go in 'general'.

I live in SE Washington state, so nothing happens here except windstorms. We've had days off from school because of a Windstorm once. And it was only a windstorm. No rain, no lightning, no hail, no apocolyptic type stuff, just wind. Albeit Hurricane force winds, but still...
Oh, that's right. We actually had an earthquake here once. I however, slept through it. It was a 3.0 on the richter scale. That's right, an earthquake in SE Washington. What's the world coming to? You live in California, Lycanthrope? Ouch. |
Its funny though, because in my life, there have only been five serious earthquakes that I can remember, and only one that caused any sort of permanent damage on a large scale This is peanuts compared to what hurricanes do back east.

Cloud, that earthquake was a 5.9. It was february 18, 2001. You were right that it was in SE washington, it's epicenter was some 30 miles off of Olympia. We felt it all the way up in Seattle, where I was at the time. Had it not been located 10 miles underground, there would be a very different Olympia today.

I remember that one Shiney, but i'm talking about an Earthquake that happened here in Walla Walla (yes, Walla Walla actually exists) that happened at about 11:55 pm. It was a 3.0 on the ricther scale. Oh, and Olympia is on the SW side of Washington.
