Whatchu Readin' NPFers?
*Other possible names: The NPF Reading Thread, Book Club - Housewives + NPF, Reading Corner*
So, today I was strolling by my local Waldenbooks, and inside I spotted "The Dark Tower", which as any knower of books knows, is the last book in the series of seven of the Dark Tower series by Stephen King. So I bought it, but haven't yet begun the reading (too late, plus its a school night), so I logged on and bgan to wonder what my fellow forumers have been/currently are reading. Other than The Dark Tower, I usually end my day by reading a few chapters in one of my many Dave Barry books (currently Dave Barry Slept Here). |
Well, I like to read Fiction novels most of the time. I love all of Tad Williams especially the Otherland Series. Recently thought I'm reading a non-fiction book on quantum physics called "Schrodinger's Kittens and the search for reality."
And I love Dave Barry!! I like to read his book "Big Trouble" over and over again. I also have 'Dave Barry's guide to guys' and the gift guide one. |
I was reading the Guardian Cycle by Julia Gray - fantastic stuff, that woman knows how to tell a grand, epic story while still keeping a somewhat innocent, childlike tone to it.
|
I would usually read anything that I can find interesting, usually series of sorts that aren't too long to read in one book alone...sort of like the Little House or the Final Friends series. But as of now I am currently reading nothing.

Unfortuantely, because of school I haven't been able to do much leisure reading. I just finished a book for my comparative literature class called "Pedagogy of the Oppressed" which was horrible. The last book I read was my all time favorite book (read of course for the umpteenth time) "The Power of One" by Bryce Courtenoy. It's a bit of a long read, but I highly recommend it.

I'm reading the Aenid for school. It's cool.
I need to read the last two books of the Dark Tower series...they're so wonderful... |
"The Gates of Thorbardin"
A Dragonlance book by Parkinson. It's awfully well written |
I'm reading American Gods because my friend is making me read it. My favorite quote so far, roughly paraphrased: "It's like one of those good news bad news jokes. Good news, you're getting out of jail early. Bad news, your wife is dead."
|
I'm reading textbooks. All textbooks.
Oh and The Number of the Beast. Still haven't finished that one. It's an oldy but a goody. I like the casual sexual innuendo in that novel. |
American Gods is a GREAT book. You should all read it.
So is Number of the Beast, and every Heinlein book ever written. |
