464: When you gotta do somethin' wrong, you gotta do it right!

Good old fighter never fails his mission to help the enemy defeat his friends.

But I thought the enemy was defeated, and then he hit his friends.

Man, the Light Warriors have had major setbacks before, but nothing as graphic as this!

Can't wait for the After-Action Report in the next comic. Looks as thoughthe LW are going to go into their fight w. Kary at a bit of a disadvantage...assuming they survive that long.

Once again,

Thankfully, it appears that they can't be fatally wounded, because they haven't slipped into an inner monologue, and BM is still alive enough to verbally abuse fighter.

And would it be safe to hope that the current newspost indicates the lack of hurricane related troubles?

Oh right, I'd nearly forgotten the rule that states: Self-narration = Severe injuries.

I think it's extraordinarily fun when people in panicked, desperate situations crack chippy sarcastic jokes. It smells like Scary-go-round. :)
Although the lack of facial expressions isn't as good as stiff facial expressions. . .

The big question is: What are the monsters going to do now? *chews nails*

Oh, and I worry about White Mage. She's not used to getting slaughtered, is she?

If you'll look closely, she does not seem to be in the main "slaughter-indicating" panel. My guess is that she didn't get trashed like the rest, and can thus revive them.

EDIT: Never mind, she's there. White robes + blood spatters = hard to see.

Slackbot 09-30-2004 07:10 AM

Yeah, I wasn't sure that was White Mage, but the hem of her robe is pretty distinctive. I had to look closely to see where the rest of her was.

As long as WM is alive, they can pull themselves back up, one life or healing spell at a time. She can't be used to getting clobbered like that, though. I can't wait to see what her reaction is. I'm hoping for a Holydoken once she's done caring for the wounded like her oaths require. Black Mage, on the other hand, might just be hoping this is his ticket back to Hell.

Y'know, if this were FF2 (The 2 on the Origins CD, not SNES 2) this would be a good thing, provided they escaped. You gain max HP by losing HP in battle. Same with max magic. You gain skills by using said skills. This would change Red Mage's philosophy entirely, wouldn't it? He'd be the first to leap into battle with spells and weapons. And getting nearly killed, as with this comic, would make them stronger than ever - after a nap, of course.

Actually, you gain nothing in terms of stats unless you WIN the battle.

Running isn't gonna get you anything in FF2j.

Slackbot 09-30-2004 08:22 AM

Correction: by "escaped" I meant "got out of it alive," not "cut and run." They don't look like they're in much condition to run from a battle right now. Or fight one for that matter.

Katzedecimal 09-30-2004 08:43 AM

Yeah she's there - it took me a few minutes to spot all of her, too. She blends in with all the blood

Actually I rather like that White Mage is among them this time -- now she gets a taste of what Black Mage lives with *all the time* :D Much as I enjoy their 3-stooges antics, it'd be nice to see her hammersmash somebody else for a change :p
