Nuklear Power World

I just got back from pre-ordering SuperPower 2 and had a great idea. The game itself comes with an SDK for easy modding and I was thinking of making an entire planet based on the forumers here. If you don't know what the game's about, go check out a preview.

The game is a quasi-turn based strategy game where you take control of one of 192 countries and basically go wild. Outlaw a political party, make marijuana legal, send troops to other countries, do countless things with the CIA such as assassinations, or try to take over the world/make world peace, whatever you want.

What I want to do is make an entirely new world based on ideas from the forumers. If you want me to add your country, post in here with these specifications:

1.) Name of your country
2.) The basic shape (size will be determined on how many posts you have)
3.) City names (please don't make too many) and capital
4.) Military troop and unit names (what do you want your armed forces to be composed of?) This includes missle names, APCs, tanks, infantry, helicopters, ships, etc... If you don't want to take all the time to name everything, you can skip a unit and I will use the game's default unit.
5.) Relations with other countries. This would be your relationship with the other forumers participating. So all you need to say is a forumers name and how much you will like/dislike their country in-game. Anyone you don't name will be considered nuetral towards you. Anyone you name and is not participating will not be included.
6.) Are you landlocked or an island?
7.) What kind of government are you?

*Mods will be given their own continent*

Now, once I get all of this info and I create the world (might take a while since the game is released on the 6th and it may be a long process) we'll have to decide how to play this. There are three ways I can think of:

1.) I start the game and let the computer control every country and see what happens.
2.) Everyone buys the game and plays via the internet.
3.) Have the computer control everything, report back to you what happens, then have whoever's turn it's on make a decision as to what he wants to do?

Thanks to all who participate. I hope I get a lot of responses, but the more responses I get, the longer it will take. Don't expect to start playing for a long while.

1.) The Principality of Banangladesh
2.) shape isn't really important, but something with a coastal area would be nice.
3.) Capital: Bananglanon; Major industrial center: Seven Gates; Other major cities: Port Liin, Daikkin
4.) Military vehicals follow a simple Mk.# system of designation
5.) If Lockowzjoo, Ih8tsupidpeople, or KefkaTaran are playing then I'm allied with them.
6.) Coastline
7.) Socialist Democracy

There is no way I can resist playing this, I don't think I could get the game however but here's my nation.

1.) Mortavia
2.) Some sort of island or island chain. Not too worried about shape.
3.) Capitol-Antarius, Oglomar, Hactus, The Gate (major harbor)
4.) Can we rename units later? I don't have anything in mind at the moment.
5.) My nation is for the most part isolationist, I'll allow alliances and hatreds to develop as the game goes.
6.) Island
7.) Monarchy, but I don't use currency, we trade and barter.

GatoFiero 09-30-2004 10:54 PM

Since I'm not familiar with the rules in the game, I'll use Civilization 3 rules and you can probably translate them into your game.

1.) Strana Mechty
2.) Shaped like a crooked slice of pie.
3.) Wolf City, Coyote City, Ghost Bear City, etc... However, the capital must be named Kerensky City.
4.) Well Battlemechs and Elementals of course. Everything else can be default. Battlemechs are basically tanks with no terrain modifiers for movement. 'Mechs should also have the amphibious assault ability. Elementals are infantry with higher armor, damage. Elementals should also have the paratrooper ability and amphibious assault ability.
5.) Gotta wait till more countries are signed up before I can make decisions on this one. I don’t want to start listing forum members because I’ve made it a policy to not make lists of forum members which I like or dislike. In general though, Strana Mechty is a scientific and militaristic society. We hate anyone who’s fundamentalist religious or peace loving hippy.
6.) Semi isolated mountainous region on a continent.
7.) I’ll use the BT Clan system of government.

Edit - Oh yea, change airplanes to aerofighters and helicopters to VTOLs

Sign me up! I'll post up my country-type stuff later. This is gonna be fun...MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Great turnout so far! Keep'em coming :)

GatoFiero-When you say elementals, what exactly are you refering the name to? Tanks, infantry?

DruidoftheDead-This all won't start happening until the game's released and I get my new computer (precisely 2 weeks), so don't worry about rushing.

And if any moderators are planning on participating, try thinking up some names for your continent. (If any of you want islands, that's okay, I'll just classify you as part of the continent)

[Edit] Two more things. Sorry for not mentioning it earlier, but I am automatically starting you all as nuclear-capable/strategic weapon capable. That also refers to chemical weapons. So if you could amend the part in your posts about naming weapons with what you want nukes to be called, that would be great. If you don't want to be nuclear armed, just post again with your request.

Also, if you are unable to get the game, I can assign the computer to your nation.

Elementals are classified as Heavy Infantry.

More Information: Elemental

A giant peanut-shaped floating slab of rock covered in buildings and stuff. Surprisingly enough, it has its own ecosystem...

Capital: Ketheres Elyion
Other cities: Deheleshen, Arjuf, Chiaroscuro, Gethamane...

4.) Military troop and unit names
Tipharean society is divided into two major strata - the channellers and the non-channellers. The ability to channel is essentially the ability to use magical energy. This is different from spellcasting in that the mana is used to augment the channeller's physical and mental actions, rather than creating a whole new effect.

Non-channeller troops

Obviously channellers are more powerful than non-channellers, but the Tiphareans have capitalized on their large numbers of non-channellers by developing armor and weapons for them so they can effectively fight and survive beside channeller troops.

Ashigaru are the light infantry, basically men in a magitech power suit carrying a spear that shoots lightning. One step up is the gunzosha, a more heavily equipped ashigaru with a distinctly different set of power armor. Intended for closer-ranged skirmishes, they use fire lances with multiple attack modes. These are usually mounted in sky chariots, small, high-speed magitech skycraft mounting a crew-served weapon.

Channeller troops

Within the channellers, there are two subclasses, the Terrestrials and the Celestials. Terrestrials are the weaker, more common strain of channellers, who are nevertheless powerful compared to regular humans.

Fast attack includes the Air and Fire Dragon Aspects, channellers wearing power suits optimized for aerial assaults and high-speed land assaults respectively. Earth Dragon Aspects are combat support and are used in an engineering role. Water Dragon Aspects are infiltration/assassin units. Wood Dragon Aspects are anti-mage units, capable of throwing up a magic-dampening field around themselves and attacking the flows of magic powering defensive effects.

Heavy support troops begin at the warstrider level, gigantic suits of magitech armor anywhere from 12 to 22 yards tall. They mount very heavy weaponry and provide unparallelled protection via forcefields and magic plating, yet are so suffused with magical power and built so well that the wearer functions as though still operating on a human scale. Usually only Celestials wear these, and only the elite Solars among the Celestials use the deadly flightstriders, essentially one-man armies. Another kind of heavy support is the Thousand-Forged Dragon, lumbering colossi designed to breach city defenses and bring down magical shields.

All warstriders and Dragon Aspects operate from fast-moving skyships, heavily-armed flying transports designed to release warstrider and Dragon Aspect combat groups rapidly and without warning into strategic locations. They also carry magical artillery, serving in the fire-support role.

Strategic weapons include the Five-Metal Shrike class of flying craft. These carry the Godspear, essentially a gigantic magic-powered cannon with the yield of most nukes. However, building them is tremendously expensive, and they need five Solars to operate, so they are not used lightly.

5.) Relations with other countries.
Favored: batgirl, BlackMageGirl!, CheshireThief, CelesJessa, GatoFiero, QueenQeeko, Thaumaturge. Will be added to as needed. Consider this list to be merely temporary...

If possible, could I have a rivalry/alliance with Gato/Thaum?

Quote:

6.) Are you landlocked or an island?
Floating island nation, if not permissible, ground it somewhere.

Quote:

7.) What kind of government are you?
Benevolent dictatorship, aka "mercy with an iron hand".

Edited to reflect a major shift in my nation's cconcept.
