Insanity Quest Chapter 4: Healings and Pheonixes
OOC: Reposting last post.
Will also heared the creature moving he slowly imperceptibly moved his arms downward ready to either draw his short sword and sickle or backstab whatever it was he looked up and saw that Aeryn was right under the noise. He got ready to spring and help him if something happened, (not because he liked him it was mostly that without him, Rage would kill him before Mercury came back). |
OOC: aren't you still a frog?
BIC: Myrra's left hand twitched slightly. Oh, for the nine levels of Hell, can there be no place of peace among the dying?! her golden eyes flared open, flashing a deep anger. Fully awake even at the slightest pin drop, her gaze shot upwards, studying the rustling of the trees. Pah! Can it get any worse than a firebreather? she stood, gathering her cloak about her. OOC: can anybody guess what it is? Clue: it's not a dragon. BIC: "Shutup already!" OOC: sorry. |
OOC: Hmm, it breathes fire and isn't a dragon eh? I'll have to take a quick rummage through my bestiary. Perhaps a Balro.... No - copyright issues there. I have it. On a side note, Will used a Maiden's Kiss so he's no longer a frog.
From the trees flames suddenly erupt. Shapes streak past but the foe can only clearly be seen when one of them leaps through the flames, the firelight shining off its golden-red scales that turns to black at the edges. Its long sinous body twists and its thin legs scramble as it drools liquid flame, preparing to unleash another blast of fire. Its eyes glow a bright blue. The creatures were salamanders, elemental creatures that were essentially living flame solidified into a solid form and contained within a thin, tough coat of scales. Mercury gives a roar and leaps at that one as another half-dozen or so circle giving weird raspy cries. He slashes at it with one claw and though it attempts to coil its body out of harm's way, the dragon connects. He rakes a long gash in its side but then flame gushes out of the wound and catches him full in the face. Mercury screeches in pain and rears backwards, his silvery scales a ruddy red as they reflect the fires around him. The other salamanders rush to the attack. OOC: Yep, they bleed fire. We should really try to cut down on the god-modding this time. |
Aeryn leapt to his feet, hissing a spell, "BLIZZAGA!!!"
Bolts of ice erupted from his fingers, connecting solidly with one of the salamanders, making it shriek in agony as it was overwhelmed by the cold...leaving it an icy statue. The hollow shell of now-frozen scales was all that remained of it. The half-drow Black Wizard grinned as he twirled his staff, "Lets teach these pests a lesson, shall we?" |
((Powers back, I'm back, and yeah. Great. Salamanders.))
Za'rel heard the rustling noise while looking quietly up at the trees. "Possible danger, No... unlikely. Forests generally do not contain magical creatures." she calculated to herself, instincively reaching for the sword she had kept with her. There was a rustle, some stuggle that sounded like the dragon from a distance off, and then Aeryn hissing some spell. Of course, none of that actually got Za'rel's attention like the massive Snowflake-shaped magic blast that actually occured. The reaver instantly was on her feet, sword drawn, eyes scanning for the next target. Then, a lance of pain shot through her right side. "Damnation!" She growled, thinking to herself, "A blood eagle warrior cannot show weakness to inferior beings merely because she is critically injured!" Za'rel felt the hot air around her, and dimly recognized the foes that assailed them. "Hmm... fire spirits." She thought, knowing nothing she had could seriously harm them without doing the same to herself. One lept at her wounded right lumbar region, attempting to bite through the healing flesh and into the warrior's insides. Once launched however, it was unable to get out of the way of the shortsword that had suddenly blocked it's view. Za'rel was pleased, watching the salamander impale itself upon her weapon's barbed tip. She was less pleased when the creature's blood erupted into caustic flame. Her now unarmored wrist was suddenly set aflame by the creature's blood. Za'rel let go of her sword, watching the creature writhe in agony as it desperately attempting to remove the barbed mithril shaft. Za'rel tried to shake the blood off her hand, but it kept burning, and stuck like glue. She yelled in pain, clutching her right hand with her left, while kicking her sword even farther into the creature with her left foot's boot. ((Uh... how big are they. Uh oh. I assume bigger.)) |
IC: Aeryn spun around as he heard Za'rel cry out. He saw the critically wounded salamander at her feet, and her burning hand. He grabbed her wrist, ignoring the blazing flames, and chanted a spell of cold....a low-level damaging spell of cold, actually.
The burning feeling was replaced by freezing, but at least it put the fire out....and most of the damage from the fire was cancelled out by the ice, and vice versa. Aeryn was examining the damage, when he suddenly felt red-hot claws rake across his back, tearing through his robes and into his flesh. |
Will seeing the carnage before him decided that fighting them from close quarters would not be a good idea. So he took one of his dagger and hurled at the head of a salamander. Unluckily it didn't quite work (the salamander was alive) but it wasn't worthless because it hit the salamanders leg seriosly hampering it's movement. After that Will quickly ran at it and took his dagger before it melted but as he did so the salamander crushed him against a wall.
|
OOC: Wall? We're in a FOREST! Just change it to a tree, and that will be fine...
|
Za'rel cringed at the unbeleivable total pain she was in, but at least the mage had put her arm out. "Thank you." she hissed, then saw Aeryn get hit from behind by a Salamander.
"Now it is time to put my suffering to use." the reaver thought, inwardly smiling at her being a reaver. Reaching over Aeryn's back, Za'rel used her good left arm to grab one of the Salamander's claws, doing her best to ignore the burning sensation it caused. "Sevientor Disthine Molenko!" (Transmission of agony) she hissed, in an hellish rasp. The reaver suddenly felt much better, completely devoid of any uncomfort. However, one might not say the same for the salamander, which was quickly overcome by the overwhelming jolt of bitter agony. It quickly and soundly lost conciousness. |
Aeryn gritted his teeth. His robes had been sliced up pretty badly, and he had some deep slashes across his back, but he thought that his thick cloak might have helped to absorb some of the blow.
"Thanks, Za." he grinned, turning to fire off another (smaller) ray of ice, this one striking a salamander on its leg...freezing that limb, as well as its tail and part of its other leg. It collapsed to the ground, letting out a howl that sounded like crackling flames. |
