X-Box=Non-backward compatible?!
That's right. Microsoft has yet to decide whether they should make the X Box 2 compatible with the X Box 1 games. What...the...hell. Not only will they lose both customers and money, but it's just stupid! I mean, even PS2 is backwards compatible.
Most people I know are waiting to buy an X Box 2 so that they can play both X Box 1 games and X Box 2 games. That way, they won't need two consoles to play their games. *Link has been eliminated due to rules of forums. See, I'm a relatively good person.* |
What do you mean, "even PS2 is backwards compatible"? It's the ONLY console that's backwards compatible! Has it even crossed your mind that they may not be making it backwards compatible for a reason? Like, the XBox 2 might use a different chipset that's imcompatible with old games? They aren't just doing it to annoy customers, dumb-ass.

Also, they seem to be looking into and developing hardware that makes use of different chips/processor, and it would be difficult if not flat out impossible for them to make the machine compatible with the current format of software. Sony was able to do so because the Playstation 2's co-processor is in fact the Playstation One cpu. |

Yes, I heard that, too. But I think that if you make a completely different console, give it a new name. Don't call it "X Box 2" if it won't be compatible with all X Box games. Plus, a lot of people have bought the X Box simply for games like Halo, Fable, and Morrowind, along with others. By not making the new X Box compatible with these games, they will likely lose customers from the people who love their old games and either don't want or can't have two consoles. And I'm sorry for ticking you off, Dark Black. If I'd known you would get that upset about it, I would have re-worded it. |
Huh? No, I just get angry at just about *everything*.
Oh, and I don't think it's called XBox2. That's just the working title. |
Xbox 2 is a working title. And how would they not be able to have 2 counsols, is it the price, they already have one of the counsols so it would cost the same amount of money to get a secound anyways. and if they dont already have the first one then they dont play the games so it really dosnt matter. Who really cares, exept a small bad of xbox fanboys (aka xgeeks), if you can play them on a new system. You buy a new system to play the new games on it, not to play the old games

PS2 is the only system that's backwards compatible? Someone's forgotten their Gameboy again...
|
good point, the game boy is.
But if they go to mini disks (whitch hold alot more data) then they definetly cant do it |
The main reason that the Xbox 2 is not backwards compatible is that they have gone with a different company for their graphics chipset. They had Nvidia in the first Xbox and now have decided to go with ATI for Xbox 2. Now without going to a whole legal dispute with Nvidia they have decided to not make the next Xbox compatible with the older games that were made with the Nvidia chipset. They would have to emulate the old chipset on the new ATI chipset to get it working, but if they do that then they are breaking infringement laws and can get the pants sued off them. Plus I think Uncle Bill has enough companies and countries on his back as it is.
