Check this out and spread the word!
Hello, everyone! I'm a long-time reader, first-time forumer.
Anyway, you gotta see this: Go to www.google.com, type in "miserable failure" (No quotes) and press "I'm feeling lucky." Now, what do you get? :D |
HAHAHAHAHA! That's amazing! It's hilarious, but amazing at the same time. I like the guy, but that's just too nuts. HAHA! It's not even found anywhere in the text.
Someone who put up that site must have selected that as a searchable topic linking to the site when they paid Google. |
bob, you think someone put up the website www.whitehouse.gov and did that on purpose? no.
http://www.amon-hen.com/index.cgi/Po...erable_Failure ah, exploiting googles link system for a political prank. funny though, this goes up there with the french one on www.albinoblacksheep.com |

That's amazing. Does Google not want to fix it, or they can't, or... I don't understand. Isn't what the people who made this 'Google bombing (or whatever they refer it to) illegal? |
Wow, anti-Bush humour. How very droll.
Never heard that before. |
That is goddamn funniest thing I have ever seen.
|
No, it's not illegal. Duh, free speech, dude. It's their opinion, and they're free to it. And one can't really say it's slanderous, either.

Two points - the internet is not an American institution, so the Bill of Rights granting free speech does not extend to it. Instead 'net sites and services are mostly privately owned. In cases like web forums where people claim they have the freedom to say whatever, they don't - they are privately owned, and thusly you are at the mercy of its admins. Google bombing isn't free speech like an essay critizing Bush's admisitration is, it's more of an exploitation of the system provided by a private company. |
