Cyber Wars ch. 20- Into the Breach
Jade woke up an hour earlier than she was supposed to. She just had too much on her mind to sleep. After showering and going over the flight plans for the millionth time and picked out her arsinal: Twin Browning BDA 380s, a Vikhr SR-3, an Uzi, a Colt mod. 635, a katana, and a few EMP grenades. She then contacted Monk. "I'll meet you in the hanger."

After waking up and getting dressed in his typical all-black garb, Wolf strapped on the nanoarmor vest, and then set about strapping on every piece of weaponry that he had placed out the night before. At the last moment, he changed his mind about the Omni-Falcons, and, deciding to at least keep that technology a little more secret, switched them for his Colt .45s. Most of the guns were placed in various hip and shoulder holsters, or slung across his back, except for the Golden Magnum which was in an ankle holster. After he was done getting all his weapons adjustied and packing extra ammo for the guns, he threw on a leather jacket he had from the last time he had been in Germany about 3 years ago. The jacket had changed over time though, instead of it bearing the Austrialian special forces logo, it now had a Cyber Force Team Alpha patch stitched onto it.
At least this way I won't get shot at by our allies if things get heated, he thought as he stared at the shoulder patch. Checking to make sure everything was in place and that the guns weren't hindering any of his movements, he donned his shades and headed out the door. As he headed towards the hangar, Kaitlin walked up alongside him. "Ready to go?" he asked her "Of course," she replied. She was attired not to dissimilarly from Wolf. She was also clad entirely in black, mostly in ninja gear. She was also wearing a trenchcoat that mostly obscured the weapons she was carrying, but Wolf could see she was taking along Twin Glocks, a Desert Eagle, twin TMP-75s, a KBP-360, the EMP grenades, a large assortment of throwing stars and knives, and Wolf's old Katana. The two entered the hangar, and saw that behind Jade there was not 1, but 4 identical Phantom transports on the tarmac. "Looks like Knight had his tech boys work overtime. At least this solves the stealth transportation problem." Wolf said to nobody in particular as he walked over to the rightmost transport, the one he recognized as the original by the fact that it had a couple blast marks on it from the escape at Rikers. He looked over to Jade "I'll take this one and throw the Trans-Am on it so I don't have to rent a car in Germany." he grabbed his PDAP. "Beowulf, bring the car up to the hangar and park it in Phantom1." "You got it." Seconds later the black Trans-Am rolled up the ramp into the jet. Wolf looked around the hangar one last time. "Well," he said to Jade, "Time's a wasting, so we're going to head out. Goodbye and good luck." He headed to the jet. Kaitlin tossed Jade a somewhat formal salute. "Good luck in France," she said to her as she boarded Phantom1 as well. A few seconds later the jet cloaked and took off for Germany. |
Jade was already ahead of the game when she had called up Monk. He was sitting on the groud, a burned out candle smoking in front of him, dressed in his training white robe, red bandana still around his head. He found that the training robe helped him meditate, get more focused on the day ahead. The night before, he planned to meditate for an hour or two, then get actual sleep.
He found when he opened his eyes Jade's voice resounding through his room. It didn't feel like it, but he had meditated the entire night away, no sleep at all. He guessed there was still a lot on his mind. But no time to worry about that now, he had a job to do. The difference between him and the rest of the crew was astounding. Each member was going into battle, prepared to fight a war on their hands, grenades and guns and knifes that could make an entire army seem ill-equipped for a battle. Monk took off the white robe and replaced it for his black dragon pants, and the old purple sleeveless judo top he would always wear. It seem to get a little darker, matching with the black pants, but as usual, he wore no shoes. Better to have the earth under your feet, that, and he was also naked when it came to weapons. Not even a pistol as his side, not that he needed one. He was proud of himself for finding the hanger in less than an hour. In fact, it only took a minute to find Jade standing in front of three jets, all warmed up and ready to move. He approached her and smiled, weak, but it was still there. "I'm ready when you are..." |
"Ok let's go." They boarded the plane and it took off for France. Jade was a bundle of nerves. Her hands were shaking the whole time as she checked her weapons and nanoarmor. What have I gotten myself into? She just stared at the floor after she had finished her check, not looking up even in the slightest.

Wolf rechecked all of his weaponry as Phantom1 made its way across the Atlantic Ocean. Mostly it was out of boredom, but it was also because he was on the verge of an anxiety attack.
Goddamn you Mr. Murphy, I know you and your law are lurkng around here somewhere... he thought as he finished checking the action on his KI-42. At least you're not fucking up my plane or my weaponry. Next to him in the pilot's seat, Kaitlin spoke up. "So, where are we going once we reach Germany?" she asked Wolf. Wolf put the rifle back over his shoulder before answering. "Well, the UN was kind enough to give us back clearance to land at Rammestien AFB, so that's where we'll land the Phantom. Then we immediately take the autobahn to Berlin, and to a military base called Fort Stiener, where the meeting between the Russian President and the German Chancellor is taking place. I need to see the place and what it's like before I can figure out a defense plan though. Whatever the plan is, I'll have to think it up quick; we technically have the least amount of time to stop any attack by Mastermind since Berlin is about 7 hours ahead of Chicago." "Of course. How much longer should it take us to get there?" "Well, we're about halfway there...I'd say about an hour to an hour and a half." Wolf said as he checked the GPS coordinates. "Only a matter of time now..." The jet flew on, bent on a course that could lead towards humanity's salvation...or destruction. |
Angel snored, then rolled out of the bed, hitting the ground loudly. He swore, then got onto his knees to see the clock.
"Shit!" He grabbed a glass of ice water and threw it on Devin's face. "Look alive, we got half an hour until we need to be in place. And I get first dibs on the shower!" |
Standing there with cold water dripping from his face, Devin wondered if Angel would be really be worth the 28-cent hollowpoint that he'd dispose of him with.
Nah. He's a competent soldier, and I need someone I can trust. Still, he couldn't help the sudden murderous impulse that crossed his mind as he reached for a towel and found it gone. |
Angel sang while he was in the shower. Devin seemed to visibly have his nerves ground on. When Angel switched to Faint by Linkin Park, Devin covered his head with a pillow.
Angel finally got out of the shower, freshly shaven, looking almost presentable in his suit. But he wasn't wearing a tie, and the top three buttons were undone. "Bond's got nothing on me. And, sorry, but I used up all the hot water I think." He then proceeded to check over his guns. |
The Phantom finally touched down in Paris, France. After some asking around, Jade and Monk found the consulate where the UN representative was being kept. "Excusez-moi Monsieur. Nous sommes de le Cyber Force et nous sommes ici pour vous protegez. Restez avec nous Ã* tout temps s'il vous plait." The man nodded and stayed close and Jade led them into a protective room. "He should be safe here for now."
OOC: Translation for French: "Excuse me sir. We are with the Cyber Force and we're here to protect you. Stay with us at all times please." |
The doors to the Oval Office swung wide open, and Angel and Devin stepped into. Angel was abscently twirling a pistol, and said, "Good Morning Mr. President."
The President stood up sharply and his guns levelled their guns at the pair, but Angel didn't slow down his introduction. "Me and my currently ill-tempered friend here are from the Cyber Force, and we're currently here to protect you from almost certain and quite painful death." There was an odd silence. Angel noted that one person was staring at Devin instead of him, but shrugged it off. "Therefore, I'd strongly appreciate it if you had your guards fan out farther, and if you would kindly remove yourself from a localized but heavily fortified spot in the room. These First Order guys take less than a second to move a couple miles." The President's mouth twitched. Then he yelled, "What kind of joke is this!? The so called Cyber Force sends two fashion challenged punks who think guns make them look big to save us? I demand better protection, and I demand you give me information about where your commanding officer is!" Angel gave him the finger instead. There was a stunned silence. Angel heard Devin snicker. "This is the best you're gonna' get sir, so cool your jets and follow our instructions, and you might survive this." |
