New Music Season

So, I won't lie. Basically I didn't purchase ANY new CDs over the summer. But lately my CD-purchasing has been nuts. New titles that I've picked up include but are not limited to:

Green Day - "American Idiot"
The Used - "In Love and Death"
The Faint - "Wet From Birth"
The Slackers - "International War Criminal EP"
The Spill Canvas - "Sunsets and Car Crashes"
Sum 41 - "Chuck" (pre-ordered, releasing next week)
Straylight Run - s/t (pre-ordered, releasing next week)

So has anyone else been overwhelmed with new music lately? What titles? Anything you recommend me checking out?

Brian Wilson - SMiLE

Futureheads - Futureheads

Arcade Fire - Funeral

Les Savy Fav - Inches

Ted Leo and the Pharmacists - Shake the Sheets (later on this month)

I don't know if you'll like any of that. but yeah they came out lately and they're great and stuff

Well, I recommend you check out the new Tom Waits and Nick Cave CDs (Real Gone and Abattoir Blues / The Lyre Of Orpheus, respectively), but chances are it's not exactly your style of music. Still, they're great. As are the CDs by John Frusciante, which by the way are being released in monthly succession.

I've also been getting into Sisters of Mercy and The Cure lately...

I recomend you check out the following:

Hurriganes - Roadrunner
Night Wish - Wishmaster(+all their other albums)

No new releases by Eläkeläiset, eh Meister? I myself haven't been byuing that many albums lately...The album I last bought was on the summer and it was The Clash - London Calling. Which I also recomend BTW.

I recently picked up CD's from the following artists:
Jet, The Darkness, Green Day, Maroon 5, Modest Mouse, Foo Fighters, Alchemist Lament, Cake, Slipknot, Rob Zombie, Advocate.

In all honesty... I found the new Green Day CD to be rather unsatisfying, compared to their earlier works. However some excellent CD/Artists are Maroon 5, Cake, Foo Fighters, Jet... all are good choices.

Little Unicorn Boy: We played some Les Savy Fav (I believe) during our first show. I'll need to check out more than them. Your taste in music has impressed me thus far, so I'll be looking into all of those artists.

Meister: I don't know much Tom Waits, but I've been meaning to check out his stuff. As for Nick Cave, despite not owning any of his CDs I'm already a fan of his music style. I wonder if we have any in studio...

Osterbaum: Who doesn't love the Clash? :D

Fighterdoken: I dunno, I think this is by far my fave Green Day CD ever. It's just a huge step up in maturity. A concept album? From Green Day? That's just too cool.

We have that new Cake CD in the studio and I've really been meaning to give it a listen. I'm not a huge Jet fan, although I have their CD.

I think the latest by Eläkeläiset was the one where they actually recorded songs by themselves. You'd think they'd vent their own creativity on Kumikameli albums. WHich is to say I dodn't buy it. Yet.

Moving on to a topic that more than two people get...

... Real Gone is a pretty good choice to start with Tom Waits, I think, along with The Early Years to cover his pre-Swordfishtrombones career. On a sidenote, I think I failed the "moving on"-thing already. Still better: Mule variations since it offers greater variety, and possibly Blood Money.

As for Nick Cave, the guy has gone through so many music styles it's not funny anymore. Anything he does is still great though. And the studio idea sounds intriguing. :D

Nightwish are good too, especially since their CDs are for some reason dirt cheap. Haven't picked up any yet, but maybe I will someday. Same goes for The Clash, of course, except it's more likely I'll get their CDs first.

Nope, finnish. As do Kumikameli.

I've heard live recording where they announce their songs in English though. And in Finnish. And German. Simultaneously.
